I travelled for business with a colleague. Check in was fine, and receptionist seemed friendly and helpful. We were in rooms 324 and 326. We arrived at about 9-10pm. Room 324 was ok, but room 326 - all I can say is wow. Yes there was a note on the door saying mind the step. But corridors are badly lit and badly in need of a good vacuum. Receptionist should have told us there were four to five open wooden steps directly down into the room. My colleague fell down the stairs, and when I heard the commotion, I went to see if she was ok. Luckily she was, but when she pointed it out to the receptionist the next morning, receptionist smirked. When asked if she found it funny, she corrected herself and apologised. Really not good enough!!! Someone could do a serious injury on a big drop like that into a room.|Rooms are okay at best. Dark, not enough lighting and ridiculously laid out. Heating overnight got too hot, and bed is on a mezzanine with wooden open twisty stairs - highly dangerous as bathroom is downstairs. Also heating controls were downstairs too.|We were working in their Manchester room. At lunch time, we went to order some food at the bar to take back to the room with us. All I can say is the barman who served me obviously had better things to do and resented my approach. Do you have soup? Yeah. Ehm, well what kind? Mushroom. Ok can I order two and have it sent to room? Most unhelpful and unfriendly. I was nearly going to apologise for having the audacity to dare put him out! I paid €12 for a bowl of soup. My colleague asked for bread too. When delivered to the room, the server had a go at me saying that he had a table reserved for seven people. I had no idea what he was talking about! But he was quite aggressive about it. Needless to say no bread came and there was about six spoonfuls of soup per bowl!||I feel some of the staff resent customers - I certainly felt uncomfortable asking for anything and was glad to leave. On the other hand, some of the staff were lovely. |I will refuse to stay there again for my next trip to Verviers.
