This is a beautiful luxury hotel surrounded by scenic architecture! There was some exceptional service at this hotel especially amongst the wait staff. Tomas-awesome waiter. He delivered excellent service, spoke in English and French to me. He was kind, warm, welcoming, and really made the hotel feel like a home away from home! Merci Beaucoup! There was another awesome waitress named Cecile delivered exceptionally fast service and returned my camera which I carelessly left lying on the table. She witnessed me using it. I moved seats to get more comfortable and she returned it so quickly. I could see the urgency in her movements as she sought me out!!!

I booked this hotel with reward points. It was just for a one night stay. I wasn’t really expecting much, however I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is an older building with the reception area on the top floor and the guest rooms on lower floors. The hotel is built into the side of a hill. ||The main floor of the hotel contains the reception area, a very smart looking bar area. The restaurant and some out door seating areas. ||Check in was easy, friendly staff and we were given an upgrade. ||The room was actually reasonably large. Clean, tidy and in very good condition. No marks, scratches etc. Everything you would expect including a coffee machine. ||We had some drinks at the bar and this was a little strange. It was a hot day and we asked for some tap water only to be told no. And that we would have to buy bottled water. The bottle of water cost €11. A large beer was €6.50 and a bottle of wine €22 so it seemed fairly expensive for water. ||Breakfast was €21 per person and a buffet style. With fruit, cereal, hot items, bread etc. Again we thought good value. ||Parking. There are two options. Either outside parking just across the street from the hotel. Or in the basement of the Raddison hotel. We parked at the Raddison. No issues finding a space and I think it was €20 for the one night. ||Great hotel would stay here again.

The hotel is in a nice location in the city center in an old castle and in a new built wing. Nice bar and restaurant on terraces with city rooves view. Restaurant quite good as the breakfast. We faced two important issues:|at arrival around noon a colleague fro moutside europe was denied a room and she had to wait the standard time 3 m even if she agreed to pay an extra. It is impossible that all the rroms were ready at 3 pm and none before. This was just not willing to help who pys your salary.|Again at reception we arrived at 14:50 and they said you have to wait for check in because we are changing shift..... client first again.|Last but most important: room cleaning is not good. I found stiky spot near the phone and were not cleaned in 2 days. Again: bathromm was not cleaned with attention just quick stuff. Some small pieces of paper were never removed in two days.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. It’s located in a beautiful spot and the architecture is very nice. It looks like the hotel is draped over and around a hill, lovely and beautiful. The room was clean and tidy, the staff was friendly and the spa facilities they offer are good. We had a lovely massage and enjoyed the pool and spa. Breakfast was very decent, we also had dinner which was pretty good. Minus point was that when we went to check out and they tried to charge us for a bill that wasn’t ours. They presented us with a brunch bill that was supposedly ours, which was not. Luckily it was rectified very quick but we had read before hand in reviews that stuff like this happens very often at this hotel. I have no idea if it’s sloppyness or if they do this on purpose trying to make some extra cash. But overall we had a nice time here.

OK, I booked this hotel sometime ago on Expedia. When we arrived, all of the suites in our class were booked, and without asking, they upgraded us to a different kind of suite. When we open the door, we were shocked to see that the thing was the size of an apartment, it had two bathrooms and office the living room Bedroom and one of the bathrooms was absolutely huge. Very surprising. The room had about seven or eight windows across the entire back of the hotel and the view was fabulous. The hotel is super nice and the people were nice. On the bottom level of the hotel is a great pool and hot tub area. The water in both pools was absolutely perfect and we basically had the thing to our self the whole time. The hotel is close to lots of things and is really quiet at nice. I think it’s a can’t miss. The only thing that I could add is that it’s almost impossible to get ice in this hotel, to be clear I’m an American and we like ice. I had to ask the bartender for ice each time and while he gave it to me. It was kind of uncomfortable each time. Sorry, I almost forgot to tell you there’s a great private courtyard that you can sit at with small tables and umbrellas. We bought a bottle of wine at a local store and sat and sip wine on the patio and it was fabulous.

We honestly thought this has to be one of the highlights visiting Liege. A very cool and modern hotel, that metropolitan vibe with great outdoor service areas such as a rooftop bar and fumidor for cigar connossieurs. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was tasty. The service had room for improvement but was still enough for us to enjoy ourselves.

Good location. Reasonable cleanliness in the room. Well maintained gym facility. Slow speed internet. My room was next to the street level (window facing the street stairs), a lot of noise till late night, could not sleep till midnight. On checkout I brought this to the attention of hotel staff but very cold response; “we will put in the remarks so that you don’t get this room next time”, not a single word of apology.

I’ve tried both Van Der Valk hotels in Liège as well as the ones in Brussels, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam, and clearly, the Sélys is the worst of all the ones I’ve been to. As for the parking, it’s fairly convenient, but the door leading inside wasn’t working for pedestrians… Not a great start. Regarding the room, it’s a typical VDV-style room. It was less clean than usual. The only issue was trying to get to the pool — it was really hard to find. Still, that was manageable. The worst part was the restaurants. I have never, and I mean never, encountered such unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. The worst was this tall, slim blonde woman… How can someone work in such a place and be that unhelpful? There were about 10 of them, including some of the floor managers, and you seriously wonder what they’re all doing there, given how unresponsive they are. Then the dishes took ages to arrive, and to top it all off, I saw mice in the bread near the terrace. Yes, this VDV has quite a few mice around. Van Der Valk is a brand that never disappoints, but the Sélys clearly needs to be brought back under control. Fortunately, there’s another one in the city center. In short, I’ll never go back there and will instead choose the VDV Congrès, which is far more pleasant.
