Finally got my hands on the famous Van Stapele cookie! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I saw the massive queue wrapping around the corner, but I figured if that many people are willing to wait in the cold, it has to be worth it, right? I think I stood there for about 20 min, but the smell of warm chocolate wafting from the shop kept me going. The shop itself is tiny and super charming, and you can tell they just do one thing and do it perfectly. When I finally got my cookie, it was still warm. It’s this rich, dark chocolate dough with a big chunk of white chocolate melted in the middle. Is it worth the hype? Definitely. Is it worth the wait? If you have the patience, yes! It’s probably the best cookie I’ve ever had—perfectly crispy on the edges and gooey in the center. Pro tip: get a few, because one is definitely not enough once you start eating it!

Van Stapele Koekmakerij is a popular stop. They bake fresh cookies all day from 10:00 AM until they sell out (often before the end of the day), so it’s best to go before 4:00 PM. There’s usually a line, especially on weekends, but it moves pretty quickly. They only sell one type of cookie: dark chocolate dough filled with a soft white chocolate center. The outside is slightly crispy, and the inside is warm and gooey. It’s tasty and nicely balanced, not too sweet. They really make good cookies, but I wouldn’t say it’s something very special or unique. I also think €3 for one cookie is a bit pricey, and I wish they had more flavors to choose from! The cookies are vegetarian and certified kosher and halal (but not vegan). Overall, it’s a simple concept done well.

Staff were lovely, building was like wonkas chocolate factory!! Only 1 type of cookie which was interesting, cookie was very nice but did taste like something I make at home. Fresh and crisp but nothing mind blowing. Would probably go back

The place situated in central Amsterdam sells only one dish - a white and dark chocolate cookie. The place always has a wait time of 10-15 mins and cookies are limited to availability. I would suggest early visit to get your hands on cookie. Each person is limited to 16 cookies but changes based on availability. To be honest they have mastered the cookie to its perfection. It has a gooier white chocolate center with dark choclate casing. The ratio of dark to white chocolate is balanced perfectly due to their perfection over the years. Each cookie costs €3 or a box of 6 for €15. I would suggest try two first and go back to queue if you like the cookies after first bite. But worth one try for sure

We tried the Amsterdam cookies and had a really enjoyable experience. We waited in line for about half an hour, but the line moved fairly smoothly. We ordered a box of cookies, and they were very tasty. The white chocolate was melting and literally oozing out of the cookie, which was amazing. The staff were kind and friendly, and overall we really enjoyed the experience. One thing to note is that the cookies are very sweet, so I would recommend having plenty of water. Other than that, they were delicious and I would definitely recommend trying them.

These cookies were absolutely sensational and totally worth the hype. The wait was honestly worth it, they’re perfectly balanced and not overly sweet at all. Soft, rich, and genuinely some of the best cookies I’ve had. Would 100% go back.

Believe the hype! I know there is often a line, but it moves fast and is 100% worth it. The signature Valrhona dark chocolate cookie with the warm, gooey white chocolate center is life-changing. Getting it fresh out of the oven is an experience I won't forget. It’s not a waffle, but a world-class cookie that melts in your mouth. A sweet perfection that was the tastiest bite of my entire trip!

The cookies were slightly crispy on the outside and had a soft filling. They were pretty good; the chocolate flavor was very rich, but it got too sweet for me towards the end. Basically, the taste was what you'd expect. The staff at the cookie shop were very friendly.
