Cape Town Itinerary: What to Do in 3, 4, or 5 Days (Updated 2025)

"For shopping, dining, and harbor views, I like spending time at the Victoria and Alfred’s Waterfront — it’s an impressive shopping locale on a historic working harbor with charming architecture, lots of restaurants (grab a balcony seat for drinks and atmosphere), and plenty of entertainment." - Matthew Kepnes

The V&A Waterfront in Cape Town is beautiful, lively, and feels very safe to explore. There’s so much to do — from boat rides and museums to street performers and gorgeous harbor views. The food options are fantastic, and the shopping has everything from local crafts to big-name stores. A perfect spot for families, strolling, and soaking in Cape Town’s charm.

Had an amazing solo day at the V&A Waterfront. The atmosphere was vibrant with live music and great energy all around. I even decided to take an hour cruise on my own and it ended up being the best part of the day. Peaceful, beautiful views, and a perfect way to unwind. Whether you’re with people or exploring alone, the Waterfront makes you feel right at home. Definitely worth a visit! 🌊🎶🚤

Must-Visit in Cape Town! The V&A Waterfront is a vibrant blend of culture, cuisine, and coastal charm. With stunning views of Table Mountain, a wide variety of shops, world-class restaurants, and lively street performances, there's something for everyone. Whether you're exploring the Two Oceans Aquarium, taking a harbor cruise, or just enjoying the sunset over the ridge, it’s an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

The waterfront is so beautiful to behold. It has so many shops with a variety of different items to purchase and there is a wide range of eateries to pick from. There various boats of all shapes and sizes on the port. I was able to enjoy a sunset cruise from a boat company that offer them on the waterfront. The hop and off tour company also offer a sunset cruise in one of their packages.

We loved this area as it was always lively and felt very safe. We are at a number of restaurants in the area and they were all good. It’s also the centre for boat, helicopter trips etc. street entertainers as well as all the shops.
