Best Hot Springs in Costa Rica

"Powered by the Rincón de la Vieja volcanic system, this combined adventure-and-spa facility pairs thermal pools with high-energy activities such as zip-lining, horseback riding, and a giant waterslide. The site features man-made pools filled with volcanic thermal water and offers mud baths and mineral treatments for guests seeking restorative or novelty spa experiences after outdoor adventures." - Ashley Harrell Ashley Harrell Ashley Harrell is a Northern California-based journalist who writes about the sea, wildlife, travel, and more. November 11, 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We went on an excursion that included eight zip lines, a cultural tour, lunch, hot springs, a mud bath, and a tube ride. The staff were amazing and explained everything clearly, making us feel very comfortable. I was assigned a horse, which I initially found challenging, but I learned so much and eventually felt in sync with it. For the zip lines, my only advice is, don’t BREAK or hold back! Just let yourself go and enjoy the ride! It’s absolutely worth it, and the view is breathtaking. The venue also provides lockers, showers, and towels, which was very convenient. As for pricing, it’s worth looking around, our private tour guide booked through the resort beach ended up being more expensive. You can plan your own transportation and pay at the venue if you prefer as well. Overall, it was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend this location.

Absolutely a must do while in Costa Rica! Our tour guide Adrian was fantastic and knew so much about the culture and land we traveled through. Rincon was just as exceptional! Horseback riding was great for our 8 year old, zip lining was epic!, and the water slide was fantastic!

This was the best organized excursion we have done. The zip line staff the waterside horseback riding a delicious lunch and the mud Joe spring were all amazing. Our tour guy Adrian who spoke four languages was just awesome and very accommodating.

Great experience, tranquil, soothing and relaxing. We did mud scrubs and enjoyed the thermal waters. We were also lucky to see some wildlife in the shrubs. Highly recommend this location.

This is an absolute MUST do if you are anywhere in guanacaste area! Staff is great and it's a blast. i wouldn't recommend for young kids unless you are just doing the hot springs that's totally fine but id say kids under 10-12 probably wouldn't do well on the horses/zipline. even the water slide is pretty thrilling. 10/10!!!

We spent the morning at Vandara and left after lunch to take a friend to the airport. The staff were friendly and very welcoming right from our arrival at opening. They were super accommodating and ensured we got to do all the activities despite our time constraint. Those doing the explorer pass should budget 5-6 hours minimum to see everything. Plan for 8 on a busy day or if you’re a large group or want to take your time. The grounds are beautiful and the facility was clean and well maintained. Lockers and a towel were provided. We didn’t bring soap for showers, but it wasn’t necessary since the water isn’t salty like the ocean or full of chlorine like a pool. The hot springs are continually filled with fresh water and are very clean. We first enjoyed our horseback ride which finished at the start of the zip line. They took us to the cultural experience which is educational and comes with samples! Next we changed and went down the 450 metre slide. It was intense at times and I would only recommend it to those who are fairly fit. Young children and older adults should be able to take it slow by sitting upright. Helmets and elbow pads are provided. Finally we went to relax in the thermal pools. There are different temperatures in each as well as volcanic mud stations where you can paint yourself with mud. Outdoor showers are next to the mud or you can rinse off in the river. We walked a few metres in and stood under the waterfall to get all the mud! Finally we dried off and had lunch. A buffet lunch had soup, salad, rice and beans to start and chicken, pork and fried plantains. There was a delicious rice pudding for dessert and also a bar serving cocktails for an extra charge. Thank-you Vandara! We had a great time and truly appreciated your hospitality.

We had a great time. the cultural demo was very interesting and the speakers were informative. we got to pet an ox named Carmelo. Hot springs were relaxing, especially with fancy cocktails and cocktails from the swim up bar and the nature was beautiful. Lunch was included in our tour and it was delicious. Highly recommend.
