Best Hot Springs in Costa Rica

"Powered by the Rincón de la Vieja volcanic system, this combined adventure-and-spa facility pairs thermal pools with high-energy activities such as zip-lining, horseback riding, and a giant waterslide. The site features man-made pools filled with volcanic thermal water and offers mud baths and mineral treatments for guests seeking restorative or novelty spa experiences after outdoor adventures." - Ashley Harrell Ashley Harrell Ashley Harrell is a Northern California-based journalist who writes about the sea, wildlife, travel, and more. We had a great time. the cultural demo was very interesting and the speakers were informative. we got to pet an ox named Carmelo. Hot springs were relaxing, especially with fancy cocktails and cocktails from the swim up bar and the nature was beautiful. Lunch was included in our tour and it was delicious. Highly recommend.

We loved our adventure day at Vandara! Loved that each activity gave you a taste of something different without spending an entire day (and small fortune!) on each activity. We also really enjoyed the cultural components and learning more about Costa Rica. Women- wear a comfy swimsuit with ample coverage to start under clothes for horse, zip line, etc. you’ll definitely want a change of clothes, sunscreen, and water as well.

Not really worth it for the price in my opinion. We did the nature pass and it really shouldn’t have been more than $40 per person. The cultural experience was nice and the food was actually pretty decent. The trail was okay. Nothing super exciting or worth seeing there. Just tons of ants so definitely pay attention when they say to bring close toed shoes. The water slide looked out of order and the water was horrific. The springs were just okay. They are in a beautiful setting but the water just didn’t seem super clean and had stuff floating in it. Felt like a waste of money to me. It was also kind of creepy because no one else was there. We went on a Friday in May.

It was four of us in my group. We were joined by quite a few others! We truly enjoyed it all! Our tour guides Christoper & Edward were amazing!!! They had us stop for breakfast first. There, we were able to enjoy good food, and got to know them as well! Everyone was so engaging and patient for those who needed it! It was obvious that everyone enjoyed their jobs!

Loved our day of adventuring at Vandara. We rented a car and drove- felt very safe but rural and steep so we reccomend a high clearance SUV. We’re really happy with the price for how many things you get to do while Vandara! We loved that it gave you a taste of so many different activities versus paying hundreds for each! The thermal pools at the end of a hot day was the perfect oasis. We also loved the cultural components! Highly reccomend! For more check out our travel instagram page: @adventuredayssuitestays

There were four of us in a group and we did all the activities. None of us had been on a zip line before and we all had a blast. I had not been on a horse ever and felt very comfortable once we started, they are very well trained horses and our friend who is a ferrier said the horses were all very well cared for. The lunch was really good food. Thanks to everyone working there for such a great and professional experience.

Vandará offers a plethora of activities, from ziplining and water slides to coffee and sugar cane tastings, thermal springs, waterfalls, and horseback riding. I suggest arriving at 9 am and engaging in all the activities until 4 pm. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. My highlight was the mud bath and the hot springs!

We really loved our day here! This property is so beautiful and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable! The lunch was very good and a large portion of food (there is a vegetarian option)! We spent 6 hours here in total and felt like we really got ours moneys worth! It was perfect to go swimming at the mineral pools after horse back riding and zip lining to cool off! There are lockers with locks for personal belongings and towels are provided. Each pool was a different temperature which was perfect! We also took a dip in the river which was so refreshing! This is a great way to spend the day!
