Vanidols South Hobart

Excellent! I was looking for a fried fish. I truly couldn't find a better place than this. What a delicious food! + Amazing service.

Sep 2024: food was delicious, staff were very friendly and knew the menu. Restaurant was packed to the brim. Meals were served within a timely manner. Mixed entree was more than expected, but main dish, although absolutely delicious, seemed slightly overpriced for what it was, Pink Ling. Ling is great fried, but not really when served any other way. Would have preferred another fish. Side of veg was quite lacklustre and not required. Definitely returning, and will try different dishes.

Great Asian food! Was recommended by our airbnb host and we decided to give it a try. The duck wraps were wrapped in some sort of roti which were amazing. The signature pork belly dish and rendang curry were great too! Rendang dish was very spicy but we loved it. Prices are high but generous portions for each dish.

Usually love Vanidols and grab a takeaway regularly, however after the terrible service last night I don’t think we’ll be back. Called to order, went to collect and realised when back at my car that the pappadums were missing. Went back and the carry on to go through all the receipts, have a discussion with staff then slowly put some ina bag was ridiculous. Meanwhile the curry is getting cold. The guy comes back and says there was confusion, it wasn’t on the order and charges me $5. No apology or anything! The confusion was on their side not mine. I got home and well the pappadums were under cooked and flavourless. My curry was cold. Anyway lift your customer service and apologise and hurry up!

Do yourself a favour and have a meal at Vanidols. Beautiful meal full of flavour, the best Thai fusion meal in Hobart. Over years have introduced many friends to this amazing restaurant. Staff are polite and very helpful, great service without being overbearing. Meals are always consistent in size and flavour. Love this restaurant.

I came to vanidols in the 1990s in North Hobart. The owner has moved to South Hobart. The food was fantastic then and still is today. I can see why he has lasted for this long period of time. Still great, thanks for looking after us again. We will be back.

Wonderfully fresh, warm spices, just perfect. Seafood basket and green curry was amazing. Don’t skip the duck wrap.
