Vanilla Leaf Bakery Café

It was really good place especially the patio was so nice. I ordered brewed coffee and a blueberry muffin. The muffin was freshly baked and simple tastes.

Lovely spot and open early if you grabbed the 7am ferry. Check of they've got any specials on and grab a drink to enjoy the wonderful outdoor area.

This is a five star review despite the fact that I am inexplicably blocked from the Facebook page. I'd love an owner to contact me to discuss why that was done :) It is great to have a cafe/bakery like this on Pender Island. The food and pastries are absolutely delicious and beautiful and the service is great, even when we were brand new and unrecognized which isn't always the case on Pender. I actually can't find a photo to add because I eat stuff too fast 🤣

The ham and cheese croissants were delicious and a nice light snack before our adventure. A good boost of caffeine and enjoyed the lemon meringue tart as a sweet treat.

Local coffee place with varieties of bakery goods and drinks ,all home baked and delicious .sure stop by for the coffee when in Pender island .

Excellent service. I was helped by a very tall gentleman - I believe his name was Jason? Or Jansen? Something close to that! He greeted me so warmly that I momentarily forgot what I came in for (not unusual for me these days, but still). He was friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. I asked more questions than I intended, and he answered every one with a smile. It’s not every day you meet staff who manage to be both attentive and genuine without making you feel rushed. All in all, a very pleasant cafe trip. I left with exactly what I needed, plus one extra item he recommended that I’m actually quite pleased with (don’t tell my daughter, she thinks I’m “impulsive”). If you happen to be assisted by the tall “J-something” fellow, consider yourself lucky. Just make a list before you go in, and hold on to it - that smile is very distracting.

Of course I had to visit Vanilla Leaf Bakery Cafe when I was camping in Pender Island. I enjoyed breakfast, coffee and bakery items during my visits. Fresh baked goods and brewed coffee was perfect on stops between and after sightseeing. Recommended

Food was okay. It's not exceptional but our choices on this island is quite limited in terms of cafes. We had sandwiches, drinks, and cookies. Service wasn't the warmest, though I found the younger staff much friendlier. I found the food at copper otter (I think they are by the same owner?) and even the service much better. In terms of creative texture, flavors, and fresh ingredients used it's definitely a place we will go back to.

Had a quick lunch here on the day i arrived at the island... Place was buzzing and i was so hungry i forgot to add picts lol. But we have the chicken and bacon sandwich. Beef pot pie, soup, blueberry scone, and ham and cheese croissant and the clam chowder! All i can say is that, food here is great! Very nice island cafe. The sandwich was packed with quality ingredients. Beef pot pit was hearty and held a lot of filling. The scone was also very good. Full of blueberry flavour. The ham and cheese croissant was excellent. Pastry was nicely done and inside was hearty combo ham and swiss cheese. The soup was one of the best clam chowders ive ever had. Even had bacon in them. Wow! Only thing i would change is that they should offer to grill up and warm The sandwiches or the pot pies. All they offered is a small communal microwave. Lol. But nice island vibe and good coffee. Service was quick and efficient. Staff always ready to help and provide whats needed. Cheers! Happy eating!

Love this bakery/coffee shop on Pender Island! The variety of goods they produce is amazing, for a small place! They make both sweet and savory baked goods...everything from brownies, cookies, and fruit pies, to spanakopita, meat pies and loaves of bread! They also cater to those with food allergies, so gluten free and vegan selections are a plenty! Everything we had was so good and not overly sweet like a lot of bakeries in the U.S. tend to be. The stinky bun/cinnamon roll was to die for! Our friends ordered a bunch of pastries for their wedding on the island that weekend and they were a hit with the guests! The staff there was super friendly and were patient with us when we couldn't decide what to order. Their coffee selection is great and was probably some of the best I've had! Definitely stop here for your cup 'o Joe! Vanilla Leaf, keep it up! You're doing a great thing on Pender Island!

The food was great, especially the ginger sparkle cookies. Unfortunately, the woman at the front counter with the short dark hair and big clear glasses was extremely rude and off-putting.

I love stoping in at Vanilla Leaf for a coffee and a chat. They have consistently great food and coffee as well as a friendly helpful staff. Take a seat in the cafe and enjoy the happy hum of small island life or grab it to go, either way Vanilla Leaf checks all the boxes, fantastic staff, good food that's reasonably priced and you can always count on the fact that it will be delicious every time. I highly recomend stoping in at this iconic Pender island business!

What a lovely cafe! My friend and I stopped here to grab some lunch to bring with us on a hike to the top of Mount Norman. I am soooo glad we stopped here. I bought a brie, bacon and avocado sandwich. It was blooming tasty! The bread was delicious and the fillings were incredibly generous! I found it quite hard to get my mouth around it...there must have been half a wheel of cheese in that one sarnie! So yeah, don't come here if you're on a diet. BUT if you fancy a tasty treat, it is a great place to stop.

The pastries in this bakery are some of the best I've ever had on the West Coast. Pender Island fog is my favourite hot beverage.

Had a fab Chai Latte and cinnamon bun on 2 straight days last week. Good people making great food. The big guy who runs the joint is super nice.

The staff is so sweet and friendly and the coffee is excellent! I'm on Pender with my mother for a few days and we went back multiple times for their pastries and soups! A quaint, rustic little cafe with some of the best food I've had! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a coffee pit stop--100% better than any Starbucks I've ever been to :)
