Go any other Italian restraunt but here, and if you go here by accident please order the pizza or Pisa, cause the pasta is terrible. I got the chicken Alfredo which had little next to no chicken pieces and the sauce and pasta did not taste good. It tasted exactly like what I would receive from frozen foods and for 16 euros is unacceptable. Don’t come here

I don't know how bad this place can be, everything was bad and this was one of the most disappointing experiences I had in Berlin! We ordered a rucola pizza and we got a diffrent taste less pizza like a frozen pizza but with fewer ingredients and more dough and the drink tasted like water!

Google
Vapiano is fine if you’re looking for a quick and easy lunch, but that’s about it. The food is nothing special – a bit boring, to be honest – and for the prices they charge, having to pick everything up yourself takes away from the experience. It works for a convenient bite, but there are definitely more exciting and better-value options in Berlin.

Reasonable price and superb atmosphere! It is the first time I went to a branch of Vapiano. Everything was nicely organised. The taste of the food was also pretty good. The presentation was mouthwatering. I enjoyed their entire system. It was a great experience. If you like pasta/pizza it is a worthy place.

Google
Spaghetti Carbonara: The spaghetti were totally overcooked and unedible - thats why I left most of the food. I couldn’t tell any waiter or waitress as there are none in Vapiono, so no return or reinbursement possible. Also, the sauce had almost no flavor because they use cheap bacon that is not even close to Pancetta or anything alike. So even on a good day, where the noodles are not overcooked, this meal would taste like nothing at all. Buy the pizza or pinsa - don‘t buy noodles here!

Low cost for basic Italian food options. Nothing outstanding, but good value

We were here as a large group. We were forced to order online and that they could not take our order physically, which would have been fine, however, they can only make groups of 8 people but we needed everything on one bill. We ended up ordering individually but when the food came they were unable to tell us which dish was which as some people had modifications - in addition, each order had our name attached so why would they not call out the orders by our name if they don’t know the modifications of the dish? The service was terrible, the food was only okay - someone who doesn’t regularly eat Italian would probably be fine with it.

Google
This was a nice place to eat. You order at a kiosk and get a card. You can add food and drink to your card. Then you play when you leave. Some great Italian classics. Pizza and pasta were plentiful. They had several beers on tap. It's a chain, so you could try different locations, but they offer a similar product at each location.

Yelp
All the negative complaints I've seen so far have been about the Pasta bar, so perhaps avoid the pasta bar. But in my experience the Pizza and Salad is optimal! The people who work in the pizza section are so nice and enthusiastic. Specifically the Black guy! Every-time I've been, I've had an excellent experience. My only hick has been that I like a lot of parmesan cheese on my pizza and you have to go to the salad line for it, and there's been times they didn't have any left. :(

Yelp
We did not realize this was a fast food-type place when we entered, and the ordering/pickup process was not intuitive. We first ordered on the machines, and the first pizza we put in disappeared. It was nowhere on the screen anywhere. So, we ordered again, then the second pizza, and the machine confirmed there were only two pizzas ordered. We ordered a meal special that came with drinks. We had no idea that we were supposed to go to the bar to request the drinks. When the buzzer went off, there were apparently three pizzas. The manager had to remove one, as even though we could not see it on our order, the original vanishing pizza was still there. Once we finally got all of that mess worked out, figured out the multiple stops to get our items and sat to eat, it was very underwhelming. I had a vegan pizza, which is usually not good, but I had heard about how Berlin is the top city for vegans, so I assumed it would be more. Rather, it was the worst vegan pizza that I ever had. The only interesting part was that you had to cut it with scissors. My friends vegetarian (with real cheese) pizza was better, but there was little about the food that would make us want to go back. When we started to see the name all over town, we realized our mistake in going to fast food pizza, but honestly.. even other fast pizza chains are better than this.

Yelp
Lol I don't care what people say. I love Vapiano it's like Healthier than normal fast food and a carb lovers heaven. Their food isn't bad at all, the pasta is surprisingly high quality for a "fast food chain" and they have sizeable portions. If you're in Rush and super hungry and need a decent place to go for lunch or dinner this place is it. They also Offer gluten free options and have zucchini noodles for those who want low carb options. Also just to be clear, this is not a salad place. It's a pasta place.

Yelp
Food was great. We ordered online due to the crowds from the marathon. Online ordering was east and convenient, but the estimated time was an hour+ later, which we understood considering the amount of people wanting to order. Other than that it was great. I will also add that there are more options in store than online. You cannot order a kid's meal online.
google avatar

Yelp
They lost our order completely after they gave us a buzzer and we had prepaid. They only refunded us food not the water we had. We waited 30 minutes and went across the street to the salad place.

Mr. P.

Yelp
I will preface this by saying that I visited Berlin Marathon weekend, so I will excuse them of the long wait time and line out the door because being one of the few pasta places near the Marathon understandably there were lines to get in. With that being said given the line you'd think that they'd have at least one employee to show guests how to use their card system. This definitely added to the wait. My biggest issues was the food. I ordered the pasta bolognese that tasted awful. One of the most oil Bolognese sauces I have ever tasted, additionally the pasta tasted very gummy. Definitely would not re-order that. On top of that the Pizza was even worse. Again way too oily and on top of what was essentially one of those grocery store ready made flat breads. Overall the food was poor and not up to the standard of your run of the mill grocery hot foods section. Lucikly I ate here 2 days before the marathon which gave my body a day to digest and feel queasy.

Yelp
Just ok. Agree with another review...a fancy fast food style w/attractive interior, current mainstream music, a nice bar.My penne pesto pasta (what I ordered) turned into a red sauce pasta because the pesto wasn't available. It was bland. The wine list and cocktail list is good. If your hungry and need something quick or while wAiting to catch the train,it's a good place to duck u Into.

Yelp
One thing I've noticed with Vapiano on my trip to Berlin is that the branches are either excellent or terrible which is a rather big divide in-between the two, to the point I've only been able to hand out either a one or four-star rating to the branches I've visited, sadly this branch is one I'd class as terrible. Vapiano is a rather interesting concept where you get a plastic card, and go to different counters to get your food and pay as you leave. This store is in a good location, close to Starbucks and the Railway Station in Potsdamer Platz, yet it is a rather small store. There is upstairs and downstairs seating, and a slight amount of outside seating as I recall, but the outside seating didn't appear to be the most welcoming mainly down to it being slightly cold, and a woman was sweeping outside who seemed a little rude when I visited. Inside, it feels too cramped, the counters and a limited in terms of seating, most the seating was high stool tables and there was very few normal tables, and those tables was just a small area, you could near enough touch each table from where you were sat, which wasn't nice at all. The inside staff didn't seem too helpful, I was told there wasn't a lift in store, I wasn't made to feel welcomed which also was a shame, mainly down to the overall feel being terrible such as the cramped nature, limited seating and lack of a lift and the awful service from more than one member of staff, I sadly feel this store deserves a single one star rating.

Yelp
This was next to Marriott. I discovered Vapiano many years ago and love the food and concept. When in Germany, I have to stop by Vapiano. With that said, the lines here were excruciatingly slow. Maybe it's because it's such a touristy location. We were in the pasta lines and eventually had to stand in two separate lines. You can't judge how long a line really is because people order multiple dishes and/or let people cut. The guy I got was the inner most pasta line and in training. The food is still delicious and reasonably priced, just the wait is a pain. I got a seafood pasta in lobster sauce (I think it used to be on their menu and they were doing a throwback). Make sure you get a card when you enter because you need it to exit. When we entered, the cashier was not paying attention. If you aren't aware of the concept, you will have trouble checking out.

Yelp
What a great experience! The ordering process was fun and efficient, and the food was delicious and a GREAT value!! I highly recommend!!!

Yelp
I did not like the food here. The cooks especially the males did not seem to take their job seriously and were not cooking our meals properly. You always need to heat the pan first before throwing in your ingredients but nope; they grabbed a fresh pan and immediately threw in the ingredients (absolutely no sizzle). They also have this automatic drop in and out to cook their pastas. Over time that pool of water will be drenched with starch from cooking so much pasta and you can easily taste it which I did. The pasta was not cooked well and it was very sticky (in a bad way). I wished I could have had the option to cook it myself and it might have tasted better but with not such great ingredients, there's not much chance to make it taste good but I would have made the pasta tasted better. Would not come here again to eat.

Yelp
You need to get a card upon entering to charge your meal to. Be prepared for a lot of noise and chaos. You will need to choose the type of food you want and then go in the appropriate line to order. I had a BBQ chicken pizza, and it did not taste much like BBQ. Plentiful food for cheap $$ though.... There is not much patience among cooks and order takers for questions or not "getting it", so be prepared for your order and look what lines to go in. The space is crammed in the order area. I like that they give gummy bears as your "dessert mints" as you pay and leave. I love gummy bears.

Yelp
I hope the food is the best I've ever had, because at 17:00 (5:00 PM) on a Saturday, it took over 35 minutes in line until I reached the counter to order. There were only 4 people in front of me. There must be a reason other restaurants seat you and let you order drinks They were accommodating to my wanting to have no pasta in my "ratatouille with penne". The actual preparation took about 5 minutes, so total time standing was close to 45 minutes. The food was very tasty, but not worth the wait to order. And this was before prime dinner hour, I arrived at the Valuanov at 5:00 PM. Wonder what it's like at 19:00. Oh, and the staff at the counter didn't ask me if I wanted a drink, which were in a cooler behind them.

Yelp
Good option for a quick dinner. Strange design that makes getting past lines for pasta to where you order the pizza. Once we ordered and received our pizza we couldn't get back through the lines to sit so had to find seats deep into the restaurant. Experience would be improved by something guiding the formation of lines to stop the hoards attempting to order pasta. Pizza was decent but slightly undercooked. Staff was friendly and helpfully.

Yelp
Service is TERRIBLE rude cero customer care. Skip and go to another one!! And no tourist attention !! _*also did not have half of the menu, did not clean glasses and although they had wine would not serve it instead of doing the dishes. Vapiano chain should check this location!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Good prices, great taste and fresh ingredients. You get a plastic card and you use to order. When deciding what you want, your own personal chef will prepare the meal in front of you. You can add or remove ingredients as you wish.
google avatar

Karim S.

Yelp
Well, The place is fine to be at, but in order to order something to eat; you will wait forever in lines. To order pasta for example; you will have to wait in Pasta lane 25 minutes, and in case you wanna soup with it you will wait another 25 minutes standing on another lane that serves only soups. in Nutshell: if you like standing alot & you like over crowded places, this is your place :D

Yelp
Came here on my second night in Berlin because it was one of the few places open on a Sunday night in Tiergarten. I give it three stars because it's not exactly gourmet, and it kind of reminded me of Pizza Hut, which isn't exactly special. I'm pretty sure there may be better Italian restaurants elsewhere in Berlin. I liked the Calzone I got, but it may have been due to the fact I was starving. The employees are very nice, and I liked the location (Potsdamer Platz).
google avatar

Dalal A.

Yelp
This is the nicest Vapiano branch in Berlin, unfortunately it is almost always packed and the lines for the pasta section are too long. I wish they would fix that. However, the salad and pizza are really really good, and their lines move fast. The pasta is also good but they add too much onions for my liking, so I order mine without onions. I recommend the pesto rosso pasta.
google avatar

R W.

Yelp
Food was just ok. The guy making pizzas burnt like 3 of them or they fell apart because the dough was too thin. The manager just chucked them right into the trash, and moved the pizza guy to the pasta area instead. Wait time was ridiculous, over 30 minutes just to place an order and it was not that crowded. I believe that the kitchen was just poorly manage, and much slower than I would have expected on a Friday evening. Not a good experience for me this go round.

Okke Wolf K.

Yelp
The pictures on the wall were odd. Staff was nice, food was generally okay. The pasta was good but pizza was mediocre.

Yelp
Good food, fare prices. This is not a fancy restaurant, it's basically a fast food chain, only with fresh ingredients, and you get your meal cooked in front of you. It's a bit loud and crowded, I don't recommend this place if you want to stay longer and talk after you had your meal. I like the concept and when everyone cooperates it's very efficient despite being crowded. The only problem here are visitors who either can't read or don't give a crap about ... well anything, and try to order in jibberish without a trace of English or German in it. This is not for slow thinkers. Ask how the restaurant works when they hand you that plastic card and be quick. If you are on the team "Oh, I think I don't want that now" or the team "Oh, now I think I want zoodles instead of fusilli. What? You can't change it? I want to speak your manager!" - stay the fuck away. You need to know exactly what you want before it's your turn to order, otherwise you'll be wondering why the cook and the people in the row make you feel uncomfortable - it's not them, it's you and you are a pain in the ass. The staff is very kind if you are on the fast-tinkers-team, you'll even get extra cheese, meat, or whatever without being charged extra ;)

Yelp
Vapiano is like a fast food restaurant, but more healthy. I really like how thing work in here, really modern and cool. You can see how they make it and choose what is inside your ordered. It's completely self-service though. The system is kinda normal in a big city or a food court. But Vapiano surely made it their own. Personally, I think they should improve their menu, how thing it works, even I read and know what is it. Sometime just nice to have some photos as references. This Vapiano isn't so big, but located in Potsdamer Platz. It is surely convenient, for the people who works here. There many thing around this place, quite a nice place to meet up with friends. About the food, I always enjoy the pasta Very much, pizza seems also not bad. I think this restaurant they allow costumers to take away their orders. I'm not sure about it, but I saw someone did it. If so, then that's really cool. At the end we did have good time there. It's kinda nice if you just hungry and looking for a nice place for a meal, clean, good atmosphere and the food tasted good.
google avatar

Mareike L.

Yelp
I think their food is delicious. Was in the area and haven't been here in a long time. Whenever I go there its kinda stressful at first but once you ordered your food and sit down with your beeper or salad, its the nicest atmosphere. Different kinds of fresh herbs, different oils, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper are on every table. I love that!!! And then it gets a lil stressful again once you're paying for you food at the end. The food is fresh and delicious but still a lil pricey..

Yelp
This was the worst experience I had in Berlin!!!. We found the place on our way to Brandenburger Tor and thought it look interesting. The concept is that you get a card by the entrance and with that you pay for your food. You wait in lines with diffrent stations like "risotto" "pasta" or "pizza" and they make it fresh. All this is fine. BUT the staff is very rude and seems to dislike his job. I took a photo of the food being prepared and then one of the cooks starts to shout at me in German and afterwards in english that this is not allowed and very very bad. I tried to explain that i didn't take any photo of him and the staff just the food. Bur he dosen't care. Still yelling at me. I say sorry and that I will delete the photo. I look for a sign about this photorule. But see none. The pasta was ok but the pizza took forever and was mediocher Eventhough I deleted the photo and said that I was sorry his was still pissed OFF and angry. Sorry but I'm a foodie and places where they treat people like that isn't worth visiting. I will never go there again. And sorry there's no pictures of the food. But didn't want to risk my life.
google avatar

Dustin S.

Yelp
As others are saying, the process of ordering here is insane. You have to wait in multiple lines for each item you want -- so you have to wait for salad, then separately for pasta, again for pizza, etc. each is prepared fresh, which is great, but also means it's a long wait. The staff spoke English but seemed notably uninterested in being helpful. For example: there were 3 pasta stations marked open but only two with staff. One had no one there so I approached. Staff dude did not greet me and just went about his business. After being ignored for several minutes I drifted to the other one. I'm sure he was busy and maybe that should have been obvious but it's a weird system I'd never seen before. So maybe hazard a "hello, be right with you"? The food was ok, better than I was expecting considering, but I wouldn't return.
google avatar

Yelp
Sad that I had hyped up this place from my good experiences at their locations in Alex. only to be very dissapointed. I think the management at this location should check up on their employees. The first employee had gotten my brother's order wrong and the second employee gave us attitude in response to me simply trying to figure out where my brother's order was. Both of us had uncooked dough ): Try their locations in Alex or Friedstr. if you're interested, but steer clear of this one.
google avatar

César V.

Yelp
We ordered pizza from here through Foodora. Instead of Ruccola they brought margarita by the price of the former of course, much more expensive. The communication afterwards was very difficult and not helpful. On top of that, the quality of the pizzas was very disappointing.

Yelp
Overall, I liked the Berlin Vapiano, located very close to the Sony Center and the Potsdamer Platz. As others have said, the way you order is quite unique. Every person receives a "credit card", and you enter different lines for various types of food, like pasta, pizza, salad, etc. After you have finished ordering, the chef will add the amount to your credit card. This Vapiano was quite busy. When you get to the front of the ordering line, you give your specific order and they make it to order right in front of you. As an American, I went on my first day in Germany, so I was encountering chefs who didn't speak English as fluently--be prepared to speak German if you are visiting the country. I really enjoyed my vegetarian pasta dish. I was still getting used to how salty everything is, so while it was not extremely salty, it still falls on the salty side. The dish was fresh, not too cheesy or oily. Each type of dish was quite plentiful and filling -- I don't think I was able to finish my order. One thing I liked about Vapiano was that they have pots of herbs available on each table so that you can pluck fresh basil off the plant and add it to your main dish. For a fast food chain of Italian food, it was pretty good. Definitely a good place to stop if you are looking for a quick eat during your travels.
google avatar

Becky P.

Yelp
This restaurant needs a better system. The line for pasta was horrible, and no one knew where it started and ended. We had many people cut in front of us because there was no clear process. We ended up waiting in line for 35 minutes before ordering our food. The pasta was good, but we would never eat here again due to the chaos and waiting. Their card system isn't clear and it's bizarre. Adds more steps to an already long process.
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
Vapiano is a great, inexpensive eatery when you're on the go. Upon entering, you are given a card (swipe-addicts beware!) to add things to your balance, then you pay once you leave. The system allows for a smoother and speedier ordering process. This place is a chain but has a higher-scale feel to it. I enjoyed my pizza and Jasmine Tea. I'm not sure if this was just the Dresden location, but they had a bowl of gummi bears instead of mints on the way out - I couldn't resist grabbing a handful! Although I recommend exploring Berlin's restaurant scene further, if you're looking for a quick place to grab a decent bite, Vapiano's is a solid option.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times. My pasta dishes were both good each time. Nothing was wrong with them at all. Like many others have already said though... it's vey crowded, the wait time is long and some of the staff can be quite rude.

Yelp
Lousy pizza, also very bad service, both waiters and cooks were extremely unpleasant. Line was so long and food so bad!!!!! don't go there!!!!!!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I both had different types of pasta, and both were terrible. The best word to describe the texture is "gummy". Sort of like it was undercooked, yet worse. We were starving and there wasn't anything else in the immediate area, so we just bit the bullet and kept eating. However, when they came to clear our plates, they asked how it was and we were honest. The waitress was kind and offered us both free cappuccinos. So while the service was good, the food was not. Not enough for me to recommend it at all. It was literally the worse pasta I've ever had at a restaurant. My girlfriend said that she's been to the location Cologne and Dusseldorf a few times it was always good at those locations. Stay away from this one though.
google avatar

Aparna K.

Yelp
Omg! Food is simply delicious!!! we ordered pasta with shrimp and chicken... no words to describe ... Simply superb...best Italian food I ever ate... tiramisu was good too. I will highly recommend this cute little Italian restaurant. A must try for all :)
google avatar

LJ H.

Yelp
Great food, a lot of variety, and not too expensive. This is a chain throughout Germany, and you get a card once you enter--as you order stuff, the staff tap your card. Then you can eat and pay once you leave. I've always had pasta, which is freshly/custom made. Potsdamer Platz is kind of lacking when it comes to non-touristy places to eat, so this is a great option.

R V.

Yelp
The recipes used need an upgrade for actual taste. Otherwise it is just food to fill your tummy. Honestly I make better pasta dishes at home

Yelp
This is another place close to where I stay when I am in Berlin, so I have also tried to like the place. The place is a cross between a fast-food joint and a stylish bistro, and the payment card concept is interesting but feels rather gimmicky and in my opinion, totally unnecessary. Anyway, the place looks wonderful - stylish, bright, open and airy with lots of plants and herbs and light wood furniture. That's the good news, and the only bit of it, I'm afraid. The menu is a little hard to determine, but eventually you end up standing in lines ordering salads, pasta, pizzas, desserts and drinks (the pastas and pizzas are all cooked to order while you wait). Which means that if you want more than one course, you will have to queue up several times. Ridiculous. Even the electronic alert gadgets don't really help because you guessed it, you have to queue first to get one of those! The pasta is made on-site and I know this to be true because I have seen the expensive-looking pasta maker machine in action. However, this is the most insipid fresh pasta I have ever tasted. Still, that's still slightly better than the pizzas. The best part are the desserts, like marscapone and fruit compote, presented in cool little pop-open jars, so make sure that you get one of those at least. This is a concept restaurant where the concept does not really work. But people will still come here (especially the tourists) because the atmosphere and setting is really rather nice, and if one likes queuing (like the Brits and Germans), and if one likes bland inexpensive Italian food, then this place is just great. But it's not for me.

Yelp
we enjoyed our pasta , the lentil soup was delicious . we tried the local berlin wine . my friends and i enjoyed every minute .

Yelp
I ate her yesterday to get a quick bite after a long day travelling. The concept is nice: when you get in you receive a order card. This order card stores all your chosen dishes, you can see them make your dishes and when you are finished and leave Vapiano the order card shows the chosen dishes and the price. It was very crowded so I thought this must be great. But the food was so bad, too salty, pasta overcooked, some of the ingredients were not fresh. The ingredients they use are cut and created hours before to spare time. You can imagine if you cut a onion in the morning, leave it in the kitchen and look at it in the evening it's not that fresh anymore. This is what they do with the most of their ingredients. I had a boring Brushetta, two sliced pieces of ciabatta with some rucola and tomatoes cut in squares. The tomatoes were dry and there was too much salt on it. The spaghetti of the carbonara was overcooked and had too much salt. Also the taste was weird it had a light sweet coconut flavor. I have to say the salads looks better than the pasta dishes.

Laura S.

Yelp
I've been to Vapiano several times and always enjoyed their fast service and decent food. Today however was a different story. The cooks have two pans to cool two dishes simultaneously (which is why usually the food is delivered quickly), not so he can use one pan after he finished with another. I really don't think that Berlinale is the right time to hire interns. I would have been fine waiting for 40 minutes if the food had been of its usual quality, however it tastes so bland, I probably would have been better off getting a prepackaged sandwich from Starbucks around the corner.

Yelp
Would not recommend it to my friends or anyone! We accidentally ran in Vapiano after a concert. The location and the restaurant is nice, but that was all what it offered. Either the service or the food could compliment each other. Service was slow but the food was not worth the wait. The cooks are all young and do not look like they have proper training, especially our pasta "cook". She is very unfriendly, she didn't smile at all during her service, and when my husband asked what was the drink, she gave him a you-are-so-annoyed, make-it-quick-and-then-I-can-go-home look and answered shortly. I very agree with one previous post about one always need to heat the pan first and then start cooking. To make our pasta, she just poured the oil in, and immediately threw in the garlic. Then she threw in the pasta and took it out immediately after 2 seconds without seasoning it. The dish looked boring and dreadful. I expected something more in a restaurant like that. We will never come back again.

Adithi S.

Yelp
Food is good with fresh ingredients and an average ambience but the slow service doesn't make it worth the time. If you're looking for salads, you'll be fine; otherwise prepare to watch your hair go grey before you see any food.
google avatar

Droim C.

Yelp
Seriously, don't come here if you don't want to dine in a totally overcrowded facility which is not capable of handling the massive flow of people. Food is fine just like in other Vapiano restaurants.
google avatar

Shubhi T.

Yelp
Extremely fresh pasta made in front of your eyes, great ambiance. Was delicious, and great options for vegetarians. If I am in Berlin again, will surely do to this place.

Yelp
I've been to this Vapiano's four or five times over the last five years, and I really like it. It has great seating, great ambience, and great food. I wish that there was an option to not wait in line to order though. Last time I was there, I was really pregnant, and my feet were killing me. Of course, I just wanted my food asap, so I wasn't loving standing and waiting to order. My husband wanted pizza instead of pasta, so if he had waited in line for me, it would have had taken even longer to get our food because he'd have to wait through the pizza line and then the pasta line.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, and I've done a lot of traveling. My fiancé and I, hungry from exploring Berlin, stumbled upon this place after searching for a few blocks. We thought it would be pretty hard to mess up Italian food, so we just decided to go for it. I tried to order a pizza with artichokes, mushrooms, olives and shrimp (which would replace the ham on that pizza), but the woman taking my order wrote down the wrong pizza on my order. When my pizza arrived with just mushrooms and shrimp, I informed her of this mistake. She took my card, swiped it, and said "Look, you ordered THIS pizza! That's what it says on the card!" as if to say "I told you so, I'M right, you're wrong, so eat your damn pizza!" After a while of this, I gave up and took my pizza, and as I was leaving, she slapped her hands together a few times the way that someone might do if they wanted to clean their hands, and I just felt so dismissed and unheard. After all this, I didn't want my pizza, but I ate it anyway, and let me tell you, it was terrible. The crust was soggy, thin, and undercooked. The sauce had a very basic, uninspired flavor. There was hardly any cheese. It was so disappointing. Definitely not worth the 8.25 euro. When I had finished and it was time to pay, I spoke to the woman (a different woman) who would be processing my payment. I told her what had happened, and she just kept looking at me with an innocent yet condescending look on her face, and when I said "I asked for this pizza, but she gave me a different one", this woman just responded with "Yes, you ordered a pizza! Here, it says on your bill, it says you ordered a pizza!" She had ABSOLUTELY no idea what I was saying, and it was SO frustrating!!!!! I have never been to a place where the staff is so uncaring and unresponsive to the customer, and I have never felt so mistreated. I will never go back again.

Yelp
Went to Vapiano with a friend (who lives in Berlin) after seeing a film. The place was quite busy and the staff, there to provide you with an order card, clear tables and fill orders, was pretty attentive and friendly. The only exception was this guy who worked there Saturday evening on November 30th,at the pizza station, the last food prep area in the restaurant. The order card system was new to me: you are handed this plastic card and you hand it to the different food stations, depending on what you want to eat. Waiters don't come around and take your order. Normally, the card is taken, swiped at a terminal and handed back to you. You are also given a kind of beeping device that vibrates and lights up to let you know your order is ready. I went to the pizza station and the guy there took his time before coming to serve me. As I don't look like the typical German, he suggested "English?" to which I just smiled and nodded. In broken heavily accented English he quickly said to put the card on top of the terminal. As I didn't quite get what he meant, he grabbed the card from my hand placed it on the terminal and made this funny face to indicate that I must be slow or retarded. At that I told him, in German, that he might try to improve his English before serving clients and it's a good idea to be courteous and friendly if you want people to come back. The pizza was satisfactory but because of him I won't be returning to that restaurant. You can't miss him: sandy blond hair, scrawny, with beedy eyes.

Yelp
i wasn't a fan of vapiano's in union square new york and i certainly am not a fan in berlin.. it is super crowded and super everything (super not in a good way) but... at least it had *comfort food when i needed it. if you have a choice - why would you go here? go east.. go west.. go anywhere else!
