Varana krabi Hotel

Our trip to Krabi was extra special as we chose Varana Hotel to celebrate Valentine’s Day together 💕 We stayed 3 days and 2 nights in the Presidential Suite, which comes with a private pool and a private steam room — and it truly exceeded our expectations. The room is incredibly spacious at 150 sqm, yet it feels warm, cozy, and very private. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, making it a place where you genuinely don’t want to step outside once you’re in. The resort consists of 7 accommodation buildings. Even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, it never felt crowded or overwhelming. The atmosphere remained calm and relaxing throughout. All the staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely caring, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast wasn’t overly extensive, but it was well-prepared, satisfying, and perfectly sufficient. One of the highlights is the three swimming pools, especially the Olympic-size pool, which is truly impressive. The hotel offers a fully equipped fitness center and a wide range of activities, with Naam Wellness being a standout for relaxation and rejuvenation. The resort is very spacious, making it ideal for couples, families, and wellness-focused travelers. For guests staying farther from the main areas, EV golf carts are always available and convenient. This stay turned a special occasion into a truly warm and memorable experience 💖 We would absolutely love to come back again.

This is hands down one of the best hotels for a self-refreshment break. Had a fantastic experience exploring their well-curated wellness programs, which provided the perfect environment for both mental and physical healing. The property is stunning, and the staff provides world-class service. We stayed in a Private Pool Suite Room with a private steam room, allowing us a bit of extra 24-hour self-pampering. I will definitely be back regularly for my recharge breaks! Additionally they do have a beach club opposite of the hotel with fire dancing show too!

This hotel has good value for money and offers a wellness experience without the usual high price tag. The grounds have marked walking paths and the stairs give you calorie burn counts as you climb. There are also outdoor areas to do things like pull ups or circuits. The outdoor reflexology walkway is an added bonus! Then there are the activities - a daily schedule of things like yoga and pilates to fill your time, most of them free. There's a fully equipped muay thai area and though the classes are at a small fee, it's worth it! There are two breakfast restaurants and both offer serene nature views (mountains versus the sea). Breakfast quality is OK, but standouts were the soups and local fruits. The food at the cafe is on par with the good quality you can get outside, and we ended up trying their Thai menu a few times. The mocktails are also expertly crafted and some of the best I've ever had. There were a few slightly disappointing things, but the benefits far outweighed them. These were; the entire property being painted a dull grey with an industrial feel which took away from the natural surroundings; the beach club being a straight up party vibe with a DJ which contradicted the wellness feel of the hotel, and; the in-room amenities being limited and basic. Overall, because of the service, activities offered and price, I would recommend Varana for a stay.

My first time in Krabi and it turned out to be the best experience! The room was beautiful and comfortable, and the service was truly outstanding. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. I especially loved NAAM Wellness and FAA Spa — it’s the perfect place to relax, recharge, and truly unwind. I left feeling refreshed and happy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Krabi!

We stayed here for two nights, but would have stayed longer if it hadn’t have been booked out. We stayed with half board, and so were able to try out a few restaurants onsite. It was a lovely resort, and we enjoyed our stay, although we did not necessarily get the service expected at a 5 star resort. Pros - The resort is well situated, with a strip of shops outside the resort and a lovely, quiet beach. There are plenty of local restaurants in walking distance of the resort. It’s about a 15 minute drive to Ao Nang. - The beach club was very relaxing, with plenty of complementary beanbags on the sand available. The food and drink at the beach club were excellent. - The rooms were comfortable and modern. Our room had a stunning view of the ocean. - The breakfast was decent - definitely not the best breakfast I’ve had at a 5 star resort, but it was still enjoyable. The service for breakfast was much better at Sala than Kin. - The half board dinner at the beach club was excellent. We had access to the whole menu, just a set amount that would be covered (900 baht each) and the option to pay any excess. - The resort looked to be relatively new and was well maintained. - There is a 7/11 in walking distance. Cons - There aren’t enough sun loungers for all guests. There are four different pools, but all loungers fill up quickly (we were here at the end of the high season). - All pools are children friendly except the Olympic pool, and there were more children than expected. - For half board dinner at Sala, a smaller version of the menu was provided with an option for entree, main and dessert. Most of these were seafood focused (which we don’t eat), but thankfully the staff were very flexible in offering non-seafood options off menu. I wouldn’t necessarily dine here again on half board as the menu was much smaller than usual. - Each room was provided with one beach towel, and it was difficult to source new beach towels each day. - There were limited classes available each day, and the offerings were not always well balanced. For example, some type of low intensity class like meditation, stretching and gentle yoga was not available every day. - Most of the staff did not speak English to the level expected at a resort of this calibre. We stayed at more boutique resorts (for half the price) which had much better service and English. - The customer service was not always great - for example, there were instances at the Kiosk when staff did not notice me waiting despite trying to get their attention.

This is easily my best resort experience. Everything from the room to the facilities was impeccable. We stayed at Varana for 2 weeks and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and by the end felt like family. Our 1 year old had an amazing time in the pools and the spa facilities are a must try especially the sauna and steam room. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Large selection of foods along with organic fruits. It was a great way to start the day before heading out for adventures. The location is also in the quite part of Krabi so its fantastic for families or people looking for a chill vibe. The beach is right across the road as well so access to the ocean is easy.

Clean and beautiful rooms and all areas around. The big pool is amazing and water temperature is perfect. The service and staff are great, especially Vlad made us feel well looked after at both breakfast and beach club. Also, their hotel bakery makes supertasty bread and cakes which goes well with their good coffee too. We ate at the pool side and used the in-room dining several times and all of the hotel-food was amazing. Probably some of the best hotel food we have had.|We tried several of the activities and enjoyed yoga and free-diving sessions the most. Alex from the Varana Diving Shool is the best instructor we have ever had. We booked a second session with him as soon as we finished the first.|This was already our second time staying at Varana because of great first stay, and we will definitely be returning for more stays.

I recently stayed at Varana Hotel, which is advertised as a five-star resort, but unfortunately my experience did not meet five-star standards. One of the main issues was that the gym is not open 24/7. This is disappointing, as many international guests travel from different time zones and may want to work out at unusual hours, especially due to jet lag. There is also no dedicated indoor space within the hotel for sports or recreational activities. To play table tennis or use the football table, guests must go to the beach club. Although there is a beach volleyball area, it does not have proper court lines — sand is used instead, which is not practical or professional. Additionally, many of the hotel’s facilities are either not included or have very limited access. For example, the Muay Thai stadium and NAAM Wellness Centre require extra payment, and other activities such as rock climbing are only available for a very short time (just one hour per day). This makes it difficult to enjoy most of the facilities without paying additional charges. Breakfast was another disappointment. The variety was limited, and the fruit section was uncovered, attracting flies. I raised this concern with the staff and asked if the fruit could be covered, but unfortunately no action was taken. Overall, I expected much better service, cleanliness, and facilities from a five-star resort.
