Very good place for traditional Portuguese food. There is limited outside view from most indoor tables (which is a shame, since the place overlooks a beautiful valley), but the wooden cabin vibe still makes it cozy and enjoyable. Service was attentive and friendly.
The goat was properly made, crispy and tender, with tasty roasted potatoes. The boar is a fairly small portion of flavorful earthy meat with pleasant mushrooms and chestnuts. The juniper rice is a very soupy and meat-rich rice, with a slightly acidic flavor that works well.
The soups were just ok, and the dessert menu was underwhelming, leveraging industrial ice-creams. We had the house wine and it was also not great, although surprisingly pleasant as a match for such an intense meal.
I will certainly come back when I return to Serra da Estrela.
