On the Grid : Varga Girl

"Walking passed this boutique store will definitely draw you in with eye-catching window displays, trendy interior design, naked globes hanging from the roof and vintage inspired cow hide rugs. This light and airy boutique stocks Australian and international clothing labels, accessories and gift-ware items. The colour coded racks of clothing are rather avant-garde and the range of belts and denim are endless. This is the place to pick up a frock for that special occasion." - The Brand Agency

A beautiful and unique local boutique that is always such a pleasure to visit. The staff are all fantastic and so talented, they know me better than I know myself! ❤ Also, the online store is so easy to use and awesome for finding usually hard to source brands when you're in a hurry. thanks Varga!

Massive selection of styles, brands and prices at this stylish boutique though the real stars at Varga are the staff. Always willing to assist (or not if you prefer shopping solo), and always honest in their styling choices when they do! Thanks ladies

Best fashion boutique in Leederville. Everything is unique and beautiful, and they stock several hard to find brands (Kuwaii, Miller et Bertaux fragrance etc). Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Varga Girl is a bit of a weird one. Although the shop space is quite large, it seems Varga Girl thinks of itself as another one of Perth's tiny boutiques, and so the large room is barely a quarter of the way filled with a few rails of very pricey and not all that spectacular clothes. However, they do have a nice selection of bits and pieces in their jewellery cabinets which are worth a look at, and at the moment, oddly, they have a huge table of mexican-inspired tat on offer - right in the middle of the shop is a big selection of sombreros and pinatas. Exactly what I was looking for when I went in there to find a party dress... oh wait, actually, no. If I was hitting up the shops to find something to wear in a hurry, Varga Girl would be last on my list.

Yelp
Varga girl is a large boutique in the centre of Leederville, its big open space allows you to move around the store independently, not having to squeeze past people like other boutiques and allows plenty of room to display their bountiful collection of Australian designs. There is a traditional washing line in the centre of the store, which displays their favourite pieces, and around the walls are various collections they have to offer, including a sections for good quality jeans. There is a large glass cabinet filled with beautiful jewlery. Varga girl also have pretty interesting window displays, I have often found inspiration for decorations for parties and various other events from the creations they put in their windows. It is a place to come looking for a dress for a special occasion, as it is fairly pricey, as you'd expect from a boutique filled with limited collections. It is somewhere to take your time, looking at each piece and trying them on and if you look uncertain about a dress it is likely it will look very different when off the hanger and on you.

Yelp
This shop could potentially be one of Leedervilles' best, the size alone is a huge plus, it is a big store, and it is light really brightly, you could have rails of fabulous clothes and still have room for amazing quirky decor. But they really haven't done anything like that, they only have a few rails of clothes scattered about the space. It could have so much more. The clothes they do sell are all pretty expensive and to be honest I have never found anything I like so much that I just ignore the price. It doesn't really sell anything that special. Granted it has a few of Australians best designers clothing lines, but still only a few things even grab my eye.

Yelp
The ultra trendy decor that is Varga Girl consists of chic white floor boards, vintage inspired cow hide rugs and modern light fittings (that don't make you cringe when you look at yourself in the mirror). The fabulous displays of quality jewelry and other gorgeous accessories complement the divine selection of designs that frame the store. Varga Girl's designers include Obus and Empire Rose just to name a few, and they also have a magnificent selection of denim. Varga Girl is a modern, upper class store providing a classy dress for a special occasion or sophisticated attire for work. Their pieces have are fairly pricey but are so simple and stylish, they require nothing else. When they say less is more, they are most certainly referring to Varga Girl's style.

Yelp
Varga Girl was one of the first boutiques I entered when I first arrived in Perth, and one of the retailers that stopped me telling my Sydney friends that Perth was a wasteland of cultural banality. It's expensive yes, and the clothes are rather avant-garde and on par with Dilettante's aesthetic, but if you're after something cutting edge that will make you stand out, pay Varga Girl a visit. The store is set up kind of like a fashion museum, with clothes hanging from the ceiling creating a spectacle of their threads. The owners are clearly proud of their wares, and with brands like Camilla and Marc, Ricochet and Ant!podium, who wouldn't display their printed cotton, organic silks and structured dresses with the aplomb of a sartorial exhibition? If shopping here is more akin to self-inflicted torture, pay attention to their jewellery, shoes and belts. They stocks a great range of belts, interesting jewellery (similar to the stuff at Behind the Monkey in Mount Lawley) and they have those leather Converse I've been lusting after for evveerrrr. Should you wish for something other than the usual vintage crop over-saturating Perth, take heed and splash out on an investment piece from these saving graces.

Yelp
Any shop who is willing to sell fur is thumbs down from me. Surely there are enough fabrics for "fashion designers" to work with without using animals that are bred only to die for someone to wear their fur.
