Varignana Palace Resort & SPA

We stayed here over New Year’s and had a mixed experience. The location and the spa facilities are truly wonderful, and the New Year’s Eve Gala was a 10/10, absolutely wonderful. The resort also offers great dining choices across many restaurants. However, there are areas for improvement. Despite booking a "Deluxe" room, the accommodations felt very dated and didn’t quite match the high price point. Service was also hit-or-miss. Most surprisingly, the breakfast quality was underwhelming, especially considering we are in one of the best culinary regions in Italy. I would recommend this resort for the amenities and events.

This was a tough rating as I’ve actually stayed 3 times now and I’m sad to say this last one was the closest to a 4 star experience so it was touch and go. The staff are fantastic, the grounds stunning and we’ve had good rooms each time. Some of the spa and hotel need a little work but it’s clear money has been spent. The wine tasting and tour is excellent and the pools are great. All in all I would recommend on the whole just food choices have become a little more limited for vegetarians and the value a little less good than before. Still a lovely place to visit and would recommend

The hotel complex is truly impressive, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Spotless cleanliness. The sauna and pool are perfect for relaxing. Delicious food and extremely friendly staff. Surrounded by hills with vineyards and olive trees, they are producing their own delicious olive oil. Plenty of recreational activities available. A perfect place for a wonderful stay. Highly recommended!

The pros: There are lots of things that are great about this hotel. The views are really special. Lots of local products to try at the restaurant. Wine tasting at the local vineyard is really, really special and in a stunning location. Rooms are very nice, quiet and clean. Enjoyed exploring the grounds, museum, and trying the different pools. Service is really great. Overall a special hotel and would recommend.||The cons: Limited food options at the pool bar. It would be good to have more informal lunch options (e.g. poolside pizzas), or a more relaxed lunch time restaurant. The main restaurants were quite expensive (we tried Aurevo & Le Marzoline) and some dishes were also too small. Our food at Marzoline was quite cold and again small. One pool overlooking the driving range was very cold (most pools were lovely though).

Service is not so nice in the Spa. That's why I give 2 stars only. They questioned a lot about my booking which I did right but that was really uncomfortable . It was all on their computer but asked me a lot of inappropriate questions about my bookings

I’ve been returning to Palazzo di Varignana Resort & Spa for years, and it just keeps getting better! Nestled in the stunning hills of Emilia-Romagna, this luxurious retreat is pure bliss. The new suites are a fantastic addition—spacious, elegantly designed with modern touches, plush bedding, and breathtaking vineyard views from private terraces, perfect for a cozy, upscale escape. The staff’s warmth and the estate’s serene beauty, with its vineyards and gardens, make every visit unforgettable. Can’t wait to come back.

Not an enjoyable stay, didn’t feel welcomed by the staff at the hotel reception and the spa. Food at pool restaurant was decent!

Nice place with a lot of potential. Restaurants on site have some odd food choices but I assume they cater to vast international visitors so probably why. Room was beautiful very remote location and spa was great. My negatives were we called and specifically asked if any amenities were closed when we stayed and we're told no. However we got there no wineries open, no olive oil tastings open and literally everything else on site was closed expect spa and restaurants. Advise would be to update website in real time with what's closed and opened. When your that far out in the Italian country side there is nothing else around to go do if not near resort. When we talked to front desk about it they said because everything in the area closes for two week period for holiday. Then please put that on website so guests know in advance.

Our stay at this hotel (2 nights) was delightful. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful at both the main restaurant and the trattoria down along past the outting green. Likewise breakfast was wonderful - such a big selection. As a vegetarian I was well catered for and the staff were more than happy to offer adaptations of the menu. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The spa was perfect for a relaxing break - I can highly recommend the Lomilomi massage. Overall a wonderful stay!

Rooms are beautiful and new. Stayed in a suite and loved it. If you like modern and clean this is the place for you. It's gorgeous. You definitely need a car to get anywhere
