We had a punctured tyre and was recommended this b place by a local garage. Beautiful place great location. And really great service I cannot recommend highly enough. An Ideal location for country walks waterfalls and rivers/lakes and a short drive to the highest waterfall in Norway and famous stave churches.

Stunning views, you sleep next to the waterfall and it is like the white noise helps you fall asleep. Friendly stuff. Clean but old facilities. The only downside is that they are cold. So if you are in a tent and outside is cold you can’t get worm even in the toilet.

Camping might be fine, but we stayed in one of the rooms and I cannot recommend it. Worst thing: As soon as some other room turns on their bathroom light their vent gets turned on and as our room was above the ventilation system the whole floor vibrates. Sleeping is impossible when this happens. During our third night it was the worst as the noise just didn't turn off. So we called the owners and asked them about it but they told us "yeah it's the ventilation, nothing you can do"... In addition the wiring is weird, the bathroom lights in our room only turned on when the room lights were on as well which either wakes up your partner in the night or you use the bathroom with a flashlight. In general the facilities are rather old and not super well maintained. Everything looks nice and clean but under the hood are a few problems. The building with the rooms is longish. Our room was in the middle part with the ventilation problem. But I doubt the other rooms are much better. On one side are external stairs (which are marked as "emergency exit only" but everyone uses them for normal access) and they squeak a lot. On the other side you are directly above the kitchen next the internal stairs which have a nice sign saying "please close the door silently" which is more or less impossible. So instead of properly fixing stuff (in my opinion all those things should be easy to fix. Tighten the bolts of the emergency stairs, get a quieter vent, fix the lock of the door to the stairs) nothing is done except putting a piece of paper there. Also take care when sitting on the blue chairs in the restaurant. One of them has the seat loose so when moving it by holding the seat only you easily crush your finger. Their fix was to just but it back in place instead of putting a new screw in or replacing it... I told them a second time during checkout but better safe than finger crushed. Edit to address the response: - we called at 00:40 which is the time we came back and tried to sleep so I don't know how to address this earlier. - I handed the seat to your receptionist to illustrate the issue a bit better because just saying something after the dinner on our first night did get anything fixed

Recommended with reservations. The general sanitary facilities are cold, partly defective and generally not up to today's standards.

Not particularly friendly or helpful staff. Seemed to dislike foreign tourists and favored locals.

If you're looking at this review, you're probably not looking for a hotel. That being said, this is the most comfortable camp I've ever been in. We don't sleep in tents, so we picked Vassbakken for the room in the 'barracks' building with private bath and a few pieces of furniture to sit on, write on (or compute on), and to hang your stuff on. They also offer wonderful, cozy-looking huts with or without a small terrace/patio. We haven't been in one, but they look very inviting. The beds in the room we had on the second floor are not the most comfortable, but they're just fine for one or two nights. Shower is very good, water pressure is excellent, and Wi-Fi works on average speeds, but it worked everywhere we walked. The second best feature of the place is a reception, slash kitchen, slash dining room. Beautifully decorated with antique furniture and decor, they serve hearty and delicious lamb or beef stew (or you can order a steamed salmon) in the evening until 8pm. The lamb was mostly bone in my order, but the flavors and mixed veggies made up for the lack of meat. The beef stew had plenty of meat and it took both of us to finish it. The breakfast is a very typical, delicious Norwegian feast of meats, five different cheeses, four kinds of marmelades, fruit, yogurts, three kinds of milk, four types of bread, and much more. What's the best feature then? It's the nature around you. The view from the back of the property toward Skjolden, the amazing waterfall literally towering over you on the other side of the road and the majestic Norwegian working horses right across the road under the waterfall. It really cannot get any more picturesque than that. They have about six Level 2 charges for electric vehicles, big parking lot, laundry facility, shared bathrooms, and a playground for kids, along with all the camping goodies like an electric and water hookup. You won't be disappointed if you stop by and spend a few nights, in a tent, hut, camper, or a caravan, or like us in a room with an amazing view and peace and quiet.

Not a place I had planned to stay at but looking for accommodation when this site loomed into view. Great cabin in a stunning location with a really simple but filling and wholesome meal in the restaurant that evening. Well worth a detour if you are in the vicinity and looking for a good night's sleep or a decent meal or both

Perfect staying! Beautiful waterfall just in front, you can hear from your room. The double room was simple but very clean. The kitchen is very accessible. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was great and we also had dinner at their restaurant one night and the food was delicious, very fresh.
