It is ruins of the ancient Angkor civilization. The monument has degraded over time and restoration work has not been paid attention. The architecture is unique because it was built from stone, a few remaining reliefs show very high stone craftsmanship, and the work is very beautiful and detailed.

This is a beautiful temple complex that predates Angkor Wat. You need 1-3 hours, depending on how much time you want to spend going in and out of the buildings in the main complex, whether you want to hike up to see the crocodile rock, the elephant rock and Buddha's footprint. It's 55k kip/person to enter (currently about $2.50 usd), and there's an electric shuttle that takes you from the ticketing area to the temple complex. I'm very glad that we decided to come to southern Laos and see this complex. Definitely a great addition to our trip.

Beautiful scenery of Lingaparavata and the temple building. Tickets and parking aren't expensive and they even provide a free ride on electricity cars to the temple. However, it's quite hot so you should prepare an umbrella or hat. I wish there were tour guides too.

Such amazing ancient Khmer temple on the mountain n good view to see from the top. Undoubtedly, the must visit place in Pakse. Don't miss to see the museum or exhibition hall where you can learn more about the temple n the region.

This my 3rd visit. Very interesting Hindu temple, the upper sanctum older than Angkor Wat. Great views overlooking the lower structures. Price has increased 5,000 kip in 4 years to 55,000 kip for foreigners.

Visiting Wat Phou was an unforgettable experience! The snake-scale path leading up is unique and gives such a mystical feel as you climb. The view from the top is amazing, especially in the afternoon when the light hits just right – you can see the full layout of the temple structures below with the village in the background, perfectly framed by the golden sunlight. It’s incredible to see this ancient place with so much detail and history, including the old sacrificial area. Such a magical and inspiring spot – a must-see for anyone visiting Laos!

Definitely worth visiting if you like history, cultures & civilisations of SE Asia. One could connect all the dots between India & SE Asian lands if you are visiting/travelling around. If you'd like to enjoy more, pay a good attention towards the carvings or art on the stones of the temples and think about how they still exist despite of going through many sevior harsh weather conditions though out their existence and how many such marvelous temples or structures would have existed if there was no human colonisation or religious conversations or wars would have happened in the past.

UNESCO world heritage: the holy trashcan? Apparently there was a festival a couple of days before we visited. The ENTIRE place was full of trash. Extremely loud music, lots of merchant stands and people talking over speakers the entire time throughout the temple area. And it was actually even worse than in the pictures. I'd recommend checking first if there is a festival around the time you're visiting and avoiding the weeks after.
