Vbar&cafè

Small place with a cozy vibe and affordable drinks. Coffee shop by day and bar by night, it has the feel of both at the same time. There are often regulars and it fills up around happy hour, when it’s sometimes hard to find a seat. The nooks by the windows are the best spots if you can get them.

Casual, laid back, and hardly ever crowded, I go to V Bar in the evenings for a few hours of drinking and ready. It would be a great first-date place for an intimate yet not intimidating atmosphere. The bartenders are great. They remember you and award regulars with buybacks. The food selection is limited to pastries, paninis, and soup, but feel free to bring in whatever you want. Bonus: the boardgames on the bookshelves.

This is a cafe by day full of NYU grad students and a great spot for focused productivity (if you avoid the temptations of free WiFi). By night, it is a cozy and comfortable bar with terrific wine and beer options. Highly recommended in both settings.

This is a great place to come for a glass of wine on the brink of SoHo. While the staff wasn't the nicest when I have been there, the wine selection has always been decent, and the people working have known a lot about the wine. The seating is great, and if you snag a particular table, you get a great view of the street (which is bustling all of the time). I love the ambience as it is candle-lit. By day it is supposedly a really great coffee shop, something I will have to check out next time I am in that area during the day.

Nice quaint bar in the west village of Manhattan. The service is excellent. There was a choice of several unique beers from England, Holland, and Germany. There were a good selections of wine, and if you do not drink alcohol, there is an extensive choice of coffees, juices, teas, and hot chocolate. They offer free wi-fi. Nice cozy place to hang out. The bartender ensured everyone in our group had a drink before moving on to other customers. I really was impressed with that fact. Prices are reasonable. Service was very good.

The barista, Eric, was awesome. Helped me get on the wifi, was quick service and nicely priced. Worth checking out for sure

VBar is a discreet cafe bar seemingly tucked away in the Village but on the inside is a cute bar which was packed with students on laptops, friends chatting and afternoon imbibers who had come to sample the wares from a short food and coffee menu and an extensive wine list that is printed on chalk boards all around the walls. The decor is eclectic with old wine bottles and interesting statues and carvings adorning the walls and seating is at the bar and at high tables around the room. It looked as though many of the people there had installed themselves for the afternoon and had no plans to move but then with a pleasant cozy atmosphere, great drinks options and free wifi, why would you?

I stopped into Vbar for some drinks on a nice Sunday afternoon. The place has a charming atmosphere with plenty of fun and interesting accents, and is definitely a place with that ‘local’ feeling (you know, when you feel like you’re really getting to know New York - unlike some chain or touristy place). I just grabbed a green tea myself, but the desserts on display were certainly tempting! The barista (owner?) was very hospitable to our group and told us about the history of the place and name. One thing that stands out is the Karma Wall - buy a few drinks for your friends and share the love!
