15 Best Bars in Charlotte

"You’ll find VBGB in the heart of the Avidxchange Music Factory, just outside Uptown Charlotte, a bustling, self-contained entertainment district filled with bars, restaurants, comedy clubs, and several concert venues. The bar is packed with games and activities like giant Jenga, Connect Four, cornhole, and volleyball courts. Every Thursday night is trivia night; it’s free to play, but consider yourself warned: it’s one of the more difficult trivia nights in town." - Lauren Levine

Google
The best pregame spot in the city for any Skyla, Fillmore, or The Underground show! Great local craft beer, yummy food, quality customer service, knowledgable staff, and a cool atmosphere! They offer a covered patio, a private event space AND validate parking as well!

Daisy Tunstall

Google
Highly recommend grabbing a bite here before a concert! It’s an easy walk across the parking lot to the amphitheater. We got a spiked slushie, loaded tater tots, and the mac n cheese. Our food came out faster than expected for such a packed small place, the overall service was excellent! 🤩*Note that there is a different menu on concert nights*

Google
Visited several times before concerts, and review is for August 16th, 2023. Nice little place to grab a quick bite and draft beer before a concert at the Amphitheatre or Music Hall that are both located next door. Food is ordered at the counter, and swiftly delivered to your table. Food service was fast, but the chicken club sandwich was a little dry. Plenty of craft beer on tap, but they would not serve samples "because it's a night with a show at the Amphitheatre". As a craft beer enthusiast, I'd prefer to sample a few before spending $10 for a pint. There is plenty of seating inside, and they have a large outdoor patio, most of which is covered. The patio is surrounded by volleyball courts, so that adds a little bit of visual entertainment. All of the staff was very friendly, but the food and lack of beer samples set them back a star.

We love coming here to play volleyball and watch it as well. Also, great to just hang out. Service is hit or miss but food is great. We always order the chicken bites with buffalo sauce on the side. Delicious! They did change the ranch dressing and fries, which aren’t as good in my opinion. But those things are subjective. The tater tots are good and so is the grilled cheese. Even though it changes (bread and cheeses are not consistent), but still good. Overall, still a great place!

Google
First time here, it was a lot of fun to just sit and watch the volleyball games. Had the pretzel and it was fantastic! Really fun and cool atmosphere. Would love to come back again and play volleyball

Google
Really cool joint just off the beaten path right next to the amphitheater on the south side of uptown. Plenty of places to sit and chill including a huge outdoor patio. There are 5 sand volleyball courts, cornhole, and oversized Jenga. The indoor bar has plenty of seats, also. Lots of craft beers from which to choose, as well as a full array of liquor & spirits. The full menu has lots to choose from and during events they have a limited menu that still has plenty of variety. The service is extremely friendly and patient. All in all, very well deserving of the full 5-Star Rating!

Google
Very popular place for their outdoor volleyball courts. Standard bar food but their beer menu is pretty big. The bartender was really nice, as was the woman who took our food order. The food did take a little while to get, even though there weren’t too many people there. Very convenient place to go before a concert at the Fillmore or the amphitheater!

Google
The boneless buffalo bites were amazing! I enjoyed the burger with Mac as well. They had a good beer selection and great outdoor seating. Fun to come here before a concert.

Yelp
I had a fantastic time at this locations that's right in the middle of the NC music factory! I was delighted by the food and their prices. When my chicken bites came out and there was like 20 - WOW! All of those for $10, I'm so for that. I felt like I got my bang for my buck. The ranch was obviously homemade and deliciously herby and creamy. We loved the pretzel but the beer cheese was just alright. The service was quick and polite. Always someone around to pick up empty glasses and trash. The vibes were chill and fun. Lots of doggies around and the volleyball court over on the side was a fun plus.

Yelp
VBGB is a solid choice in the music factory. There are options for everyone due to the full bar and the food options are pretty decent for a bar. The line can look very intimidating but the bar line does move quickly. My favorite is to find a bench at the bar to people watch and chat with the friendly bartenders. Anywhere that I can get a frozen drink, I'll be happy.

Yelp
I stopped by VBGB for a day out and was blown away by the atmosphere and the beer selection. I tried the pumpkin pie amber ale, and it was exactly what I was hoping for! The flavors were warm and rich, with just the right amount of spice that made it perfect for fall. The outdoor beer garden vibe is amazing, and the space is really well set up for groups or just hanging out. Friendly staff, awesome brews, and great vibes--definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
Was next door waiting in line to see Marilyn Manson. Came inside to take a leak and get a PBR. Very cool bar. I loved the restroom sign about not caring about gender, just wash your hands. The urinals have a spot for your beer. Sand volleyball courts and I heard Dokken playing. This place is great! B Nelson, Seattle Wa.

Yelp
Char- grilled wings and a side of tater tots. I was satisfied. The wings were charred with a spicy BBQ sauce. I loved the fact that they were moist and not dried out The tater tots were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I dunked them in a side of buffalo sauce. #VGBG food has come a very long way. I'll return to try other items. Try the Blackberry Cider while there. #GratuityAdded #charlottesgotalot #MusicFactory #CLTBeerGarden #clteats #foodiesofclt #cltfoodies #MukbangCLT # #exploreclt #eatdrinkclt #KaraokeWay #tots #charlottefood #leapyear #Eclipse24 #grabandgoCLT #cltfoodie #foodie #OfflineCLT #keeppounding #charlotteeats #eatdrinkclt #charlottefoodscene #cltfoodbloggers #chargrilled # #charlottefoodies #cltagenda

Yelp
Great service, great food, great environment, AND they validate parking?? I'm kicking myself for all the times I've been to shows at Fillmore or the Underground and didn't visit this place. Won't be making that mistake again! We grabbed a bite to eat to eat before a show and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. And honestly, it was reasonably priced. I figured given the location, they would charge a premium for the convenience and lack of many other options nearby, but that didn't seem to be the case. The lady who took our order was very nice and even made a point to ask if we needed to validate parking, which was an unexpected perk of our visit. She gave us a code after we paid for the food and after putting that in the link from mobile parking, it was $0. The food nearly paid for itself at that point. I'd much rather have something to show for the $11 aside from just parking my car in a lot for a few hours. So that alone will keep me coming back. But the food was actually really good too! We split everything just because I didn't feel like eating a lot before a packed show. Even with splitting it there was more than enough for both of us to leave full. Both the burger and totchos we ordered were perfection. Lots of flavor and no skimping on the toppings. My photos honestly do it zero justice so just trust me on this one. I was too hungry to care about pictures at the time. The pretzel bun holds up well to the cheesy goodness of the burger and the tots were loaded with cheese, jalapeños, and all things good. I would visit again just for the food. While we waited for food, we sat at the bar which had started to fill up with people grabbing a drink before the show and many others that seemed to be coming to play volleyball outside. I didn't get a good look at that setup but it seemed pretty legit, if you're looking to drink and play volleyball. The bartenders who served us were great and kept our drinks coming. We had a couple a piece before the show and stopped back in afterwards to hang out with friends until the bar closed. The whole time, the staff kept my water full and kept tabs on my friends' beer orders. Before the show, I couldn't make up my mind on a drink so one of the guys came up with something tasty based off my preferences. Not sure what exactly it was but it was good. The following bartender even tracked him down to make my second drink the same. All offered great service. The music is loud, which is obviously to be expected. But if you're looking to chat without screaming, you might want to sit outside. There's plenty of seating and even when it was busy, there seemed to be plenty of staff to manage it. There even seemed to be an enclosed outdoor space with a window to the bar, but I didn't get a good look at it. Bathrooms were clean. Really, not sure what else to say other than I enjoyed my visit(s) here and would absolutely make a stop again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times. The atmosphere is great no matter where you sit. It's a good spot for beers and elevated bar bites!

Yelp
Came here to pregame before hitting the club. It was chill and I had to totachos with brisket and they were tasty. This facility also validates parking deck tickets with the purchase of anything.

Yelp
(From June 2023) After the Logic concert, I stopped in here as I debated whether to lyft/uber back to the hotel or walk back. It was Saturday night and a bit packed. Ordering a PBR beer up front, I noticed that it's mainly a beer bar with plenty of options on tap and pitchers are available. Inside has plenty of seating with tables and the bar area. There's also a food kiosk to order items. The menu is a bit limited during concert days with only basket items and sides. There's a more expansive menu during less busier days. I didn't try any of the food but the totchos and sandwiches leaving the kitchen smelled awesome. Outside seating is available as well with some activities and music sometimes. Saw some people getting into a competitive game of cornhole and it's dog friendly as well. Not a bad spot to spend the day after a show if you want to kick back with a beer.

Yelp
I love beer, and good entertainment, so naturally I visit VBGB when I go to the music factory. They staff is friendly, the place is clean and the they have a great selection of beer. There are corn hole boards, ping pong tables, giant connect 4, and several beach volleyball courts there with a covered outdoor area in back. The food is excellent, I highly recommend the soft pretzel with beer cheese. They also validate parking with a purchase, so there's really no good reason to not visit here if you are in the area or going to a concert nearby.

Yelp
Neat little place to eat before a concert. Huge beer selection. I'm not a beer fan - had a slushy wine. Good enough. Not bad, not special, but I'd order it again. They're apparently famous for the Pretzel - it is truly a great buy! Soft & tasty. Mac & cheese - not so much. I would not order this at all. Instead of cheesy, it's oily. See my pic. Everyone at our table was unimpressed. Tots were crispy. Ranch dressing was good. Boneless wings overcooked. Honey bbq pulled pork sandwich was good.

Yelp
So glad i choose to come here before a concert! They have open seating inside and outside with a lot of activities (trivia/ volleyball / ping pong/ corn hole)! The tater tots and chicken was good, the staff was friendly and gave great recommendation! Will be back!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Mostly worth it for the parking. The food is decent, but the service is slow, so I wouldn't recommend unless you have over an hour to kill.

Yelp
I came here to eat on July 10th with my husband for our regular date weekend. They make you pay for parking and say you will be refunded after you eat there. I was not refunded for the $11.99 parking. I will no longer be going to place that you have to pay to park, when there is no parking garage. I will be reporting these extra charges that restaurants have been charging to the NCDOR! This can no longer be tolerated! The food was not all that, but the outside sitting area is very nice.

Yelp
Cool place to hit up before a concert at Skyla. Lotta beer selection. Indoor and outdoor with volleyball, ping pong , picnic benches . Clean restrooms. Nice menu

Yelp
Cool vibes and and good food! Came here last night with some friends and really liked it! They have a large selection of beers and ciders on tap! Plus, their food menu had some interesting options. I ordered a Greek chicken sandwich. It was super tender and really flavorful. For $8 I thought it was fairly priced but was bummed that it didn't come with a side. I also ordered the giant pretzel. It was good, but I thought it would be larger, more for sharing, but I could've finished the whole thing myself. The line for beer also moved pretty slowly since one side of the bar is inside and the other is outside. The bar tenders had to keep track of managing both sides. The vibes of VBGB really stand out. They have a few volleyball courts with sand and tons of outdoor games including connect 4, ping pong, a chalk board, and corn hole. This will be a GREAT summer spot! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Vibes: 5/5

Yelp
We were attending a concert at The Underground next door and had some time to spare. We saw this venue beside it and went on over. I loved the vibe. They have really comfy bar seats and great drinks and food. Our bartender was great, too! I ordered the grilled chicken skewers and a pretzel with beer cheese. Both were excellent and so reasonable. If I was local this would definitely be a spot that I frequented. Bathrooms were clean and the place had inside and outside seating.

Yelp
Really good pretzel and beer cheese. The whole menu looked good. Outdoor patio and places to sit inside. Pay to park but the validate. Food came out quickly. Service was friendly.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab something to eat before the Kehlani concert. I got the chicken bites and fries with a hurricane slushy. The chicken was juicy (honey barbecue flavor) and the fries were fresh. Staff were very nice and my order came out quick. They also validate parking (you have to buy something) which was great!

Yelp
Such a cool spot! It was so hot out today but the back patio is nice and shaded so it wasn't as bad. Loved that we could bring our dog and they had water bowls available and a spout. The frosé was so good and my husband and I split a burger and the pretzel which were both delicious. We were a little nervous at first since the parking was saying $20 but you get validated parking with a purchase inside so definitely worth checking out!

katy P.

Yelp
The food was very average, I got the pretzel burger and it was super well done. Great atmosphere if you want to watch volley ball.

Yelp
VBGB is a great place to hang with friends or family. There's tons of tables for large parties. They even have games like corn hole, connect four, and ping pong. The parking on the street is free and the parking in the deck is validated with a voucher. FYI if there's a concert you may have a more difficult time parking! The food is reasonably priced and tastes great. I really enjoyed my flight for $12. As for food, I got the pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel is super soft and very filling. We had a fun time watching Volleyball rec teams play. They have teams competing on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. Although I'm sure they play other nights too! Overall a great experience and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I've been coming to this place ever since they opened years ago! It's always a great time and vibe when I go. It had been a while since I came, and I will say A LOT has changed down in NC music factory. They gave away with the big open parking lot they used to have across the street, and now there is a parking deck. If you do find parking spots in front of VBGB, you do have to pay for parking, BUT they will validate parking once you buy something. I went on a Saturday night around 8 pm, and I was surprised to find it fairly empty. I remember when it used to be super packed no matter what time of day or night you went. I still enjoyed the peaceful of it and enjoyed it not being crowded at all. It was raining also so maybe that's why it was empty also. Ordered their loaded tots. They were pretty good. Loaded with pork, corn, sour cream, the whole works. It was delicious and would def order again. They do have an outside patio, but unfortunately, it was not heated, so after a few rounds of Connect 4, we decided to migrate back inside. Overall, this is definitely a chill spot if you're looking for some place to go for a couple of drinks. Def. A favorite and will still go.

Yelp
This place was the perfect spot to bring my friends to for a lunch. The staff was incredibly helpful and fast, the food was really good and the drinks were spot on. My friend got the nitro stout and it was rich and creamy/chocolaty. It was paid Parking so you have to prove you paid to park upon entrance though

Yelp
Cool easy spot to hang out ! They have great outside and inside dining making it very covid friendly! The menu is not super large but the focus is the beer and the food they do serve is very tasty. Nice spot to go after a concert or show it just a chill spot to hang out. You can even bring your favorite board games to play! Also there are many things to do outside including volleyball. A nice group spot to check out!

Yelp
True story...Went to a bar and ended up watching several beach volleyball league games! Great vibe for a Monday! The offer a wide range of local microbrews on tap. I opted for a Birdsong Jalapeño Pale Ale which truly hit the spot on a hot afternoon. Service was great with the perfect pour They have a small kitchen that serves appetizers. We had the tater tot nachos which were just ok & the fried pickles which were better. Although they have ample indoor dining space, we opted for a picnic table outside. Watching beach volleyball outside felt like we were...at the beach
google avatar

Yelp
Fun atmosphere. Food service was quick and the fries were delicious. The sweet potato fries come in 2 options. I opted for salty over sweet but I'm sure they were both good. You have to check out the volleyball courts attached and even get a game going. 4v4 teams are set up through the year.

Yelp
VBGB has been one of my go to spots for years because it's the prime location for shows, located right beside The Fillmore, The Underground and Uptown Amphitheater. . . Last night we went to see a Motley Crue cover band and hit up this place for some pregaming, we got some seats pulled up right at the bar and ordered some drinks and shots, the bartenders were on point and very fast. I also love the ice rail lining the bar to keep drinks cold. . . The inside is huge with a kitchen that brings the flavor out with foods ranging from sandwiches and burgers to pretzels and salads. Outside patio area is very big with tons of seating, and also has a lot of volleyball courts! This place is the perfect spot to hang with friends and unwind.

Yelp
VBGB is a pretty cool spot to come hang out and chill with friends. They have an outdoor area, bar, and games area in addition to regular tables and TVs. It's a pretty great place for all ages to come hang out! In terms of food, I was honestly pretty disappointed. For the pricing, portion sizes are small. The menu makes everything sound like it'd be amazing, but the burgers are just mediocre. I tried the Beer Cheeseburger and VBGB BBQ burger. The BBQ burger was definitely better. My Beer Cheeseburger tasted incredibly bland and was very small. It comes with a pretzel bun which doesn't taste as good as their gourmet pretzel (this appetizer is actually pretty good with the cheese dip). The cheese had melted and almost slid completely off my burger- I had to use a spoon and scoop it back onto my burger. I honestly couldn't taste any of the sauce on the burger. VBGB BBQ burger was actually good though, but nothing impressive or something I'd go out of the way for. Service is also pretty slow. We waited quite awhile for our food even though there was only one other group there as well. Overall, I'd come here to drink and chill with friends while watching sports or playing board games, but I wouldn't come for the food. It's too expensive for how mediocre it is and the size. Appetizers may be worth munching on, but I wouldn't come here expecting a fulfilling dinner.

Yelp
OK...this may be more personal than objective? I'm not a fan of beer (martinis and hard liquor are more my thing); and not really into beer dives. Given that, there's no way I was going to love it here. Despite the high ratings by others, I just wasn't thrilled to be here. Same as the time before (this was only my 2nd time here). The place gets way too packed, way too loud, and overall, I find it a bit obnoxious. This time, I opted to order food (not Cider, like last time)...and the line was quite slow moving. Then I had to repeat my order 3X because the cashier couldn't hear me (again, way too loud here). The food choices are pretty basic (beer foods?), so I just decided to go with their Boneless Chicken Bites (Honey with BBQ Sauce) and their Chips (no Fries?!?). Again, didn't love it...at all. In fact, I wished I ordered something from 8.2.0 next door the whole time I was there. :( I totally get that if you ARE a beer fan, chances are you'll at least like it here. Unfortunately, just not my thing.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of checking this place out with my niece who had an Offline offer. I didn't get many pictures :( We had a lot to catch up on! The weather was perfect! There were a couple of volleyball games going on and I had to think to myself-how did I play this all four years of high school?! Anyway they had some drink specials. I went with the watermelon margarita-upgraded to Hornitos instead is the house tequila. It was very tasty and refreshing! I also tried the beer flight-the peach seltzer was my by far my favorite with the Boat Wave Hefeweizen coming in 2nd. I didn't care too much for the Wicked Weed and the Sour Monkey was my least favorite! For food we had the pretzel with beer cheese-it was soft and flavorful and had just the right amount of salt. I had the charred wings with the spicy bbq on the side. I like charred wings-but if that's not your thing you may not like them. My niece had the burger and she said it was ok but it did need condiments. I am already planning to meet some old work friends there so I will definitely be back! I honestly didn't even realize they have a parking lot and they validate parking until this visit.

Yelp
LOVED VBGB!! So let me start by saying I didn't even know this place existed!! Me and a few people were at "Camp North End" and someone recommended we come here to eat afterwards. This place was AMAZING! They had music playing when you first walk in along with TVs playing in the background- everyone looking like they were having a great time. Outside, people were playing volley ball (I believe - I'm writing this review late). There were picnic tables outside that would seat large groups accommodating the current climate of social distancing. I ended up ordering the Beyond burger and I tried a few of the fries. The food ?? AMAZING. This place just offered an overall GREAT VIBE! The only thing I would say is that parking can be scarce depending on when you go. We had to look for parking on the street - but this place was totally worth it. It's also other places on the same strip that was the "turn up" pre Covid days from what I'm told. Overall, this place was a WHOLE VIBE- I highly recommend!!

Yelp
VNGB is out after run spot. The menu has great selections. Skewers are good, the grill cheese on a pretzel bun. The wings bits and tachos are filling. The venue is always clean and a great experience inside and out. The service is great the food comes out and they do parking validation. Bartenders are always ready to explain drinks and seasonal selections

Yelp
Came in w/some fellow QC YE's as we were walking by and already on the verge of heatstroke, so the AC, food action, and cold brews were a welcome reprieve! It is counter service for food and open seating. They had a Jazz Hands Basket Special since a Jazz Fest was happening next door. I got the spinach, feta chicken brat w/kraut, beer cheese & sweet honey bbq w:a side of latkes and had zero regrets! The bar top is where it's at here! I wish I had thought to ask our bartender's name because he was so on point I wanted to hug him on multiple occasions! First off, he brought us ice cold waters w/o asking, and even replaced the water when a water swiping ninja walked off w/one our party's H2Os! He also made a solid beer rec and made my fellow diners some awesome drinks! I was IN LOVE w/the "ice strip" they had for you to put your beer or drink on to keep it ice cold! Also, the prices were fairly reasonable, especially considering the location in the Music Factory!

Yelp
My brother-in-law introduced me to this bar several years before I moved to the Charlotte area and it's grown a big place in my heart! This isn't a super classy bar or a super divey bar... it's a good feel, people bar! If the sand volleyball, giant sized games and music doesn't pull you in, the staff and great beer selection will! The food is really good and definitely a step up from regular bar food. I've had about everything on the menu so I won't bore you with reviewing every item on the menu, but I can share some of my favorite! Their beer cheese is on point, don't just get it with the pretzel, try it with the fried pickles or something else... it's too good not to! Their gourmet grilled cheese is one of my favorite sandwiches... I mean how can you resist anything on a pretzel bun anyways?! Speaking of pretzels, theirs is one of my favorites in the city. May not take the #1 place, but pretty close! The Wango Tango wings are where it's at if you're looking to get saucy! The totchos (nachos, but with tots) are a MUST! Beware since they are located in the music factory, there are lots of events and because they get slammed sometimes they put up a Special Events Menu... so don't be too disappointed if you come on a night when there's a concert, they probably won't have their full menu. On the flip side, they do have specials on Fridays at lunch (maybe on Saturdays and sundays, but not for sure). One time they had this Bruschetta Melt... it was on a pretzel bun so you can only imagine how delicious it sounds and was!! So keep your eyes open for some yummy surprises! As far as drinks, this is definitely more of a beer bar than another else. Yes, they have liquor and wine... but their beer selection is where it's at! They rotate their beers pretty frequently so don't be surprised if you get something you absolutely love one week and come back the next and it's not there... it's happens to the best of us and you'll have another soon enough! Lots of local beers, gotta rep drinking local in NC! I'm lucky to now work right across the street so I may frequent this place a little more than I should, but I can't say I'm upset about it! Definitely check it out if you're looking for a new chill spot or somewhere to grab a beer before your concert in the music factory! You can thank me later!

Yelp
I came to VGBG on a random Saturday afternoon with my fiancé about a month ago. It was chilly yet warm that day, so my fiancé and I grabbed a drink and sat outside while we played jumbo Connect 4. The place was pretty empty at the time we visited which was perfect for us since we were able to play Connect 4 continuously without anyone bothering us. We wanted to snack on something while we waited and asked for fries, but sad times...they don't serve fries. However, since I was starting to get hungry, we were there for only about an hour and then left. Great drink prices and great drink selection. I would be back!

Yelp
VBGB is a place I came to my first weekend in Charlotte after seeing Lettuce at the Underground. Going there on a Friday night and looking around I had no idea this would be a popular place to come play trivia. My friends and I are regulars at Lebowski's on Tuesday nights but we had a Thursday night trivia itch and decided to look around at some places. VBGB had great reviews so we decided on it. Trivia starts at 8:15 - which is a little later for my taste, but that's just about the only complaint I can think of in the way they do trivia. We called ahead and the lady told us to get there around 7:30 to get good seats. They do trivia outside under a giant enclosure during the winter where I'm guessing in the summer is all open. Huge area outside and there was plenty of space for the trivia peeps who decided to show up. I think it's hosted by Rave Trivia. The way the rounds were set up was SUPER ORGANIZED but still fresh each round. The dude who asks the questions was hilarious, and the questions got progressively harder as the questions and rounds went by, which is always fun. They did wait a pretty good amount of time between rounds, but I guess that's a little bit attributed to how many teams were there (a lot). As you'd expect, there are a ton of beer options and there's something for everyone. When outside, you go up to the middle window and place your order. Pretty simple. We decided to eat dinner there as well and it was delicious. To order, you go inside to the front of the kitchen where there's a giant "EAT" sign. Easy process to order and then they bring your food out to your number at your table. I got the burger with tots. The burger was juicy and well cooked and the tots were AWESOME and served with a fire sauce that I would put on most things. The pretzel bites were on special that night so we did get a bunch of those with the beer cheese. Some of the best pretzels I've had in a while and the beer cheese was perfect. These are a must get whether you're at trivia or if you're just stopping by for a beer. All in all, loved VBGB. I doubt it will end up being our regular place for trivia but it will definitely be a nice change of pace when we want to have a later night or do something a little more low key on a Thursday night. Also a great spot to go to before or after a show over by the Fillmore!

Yelp
Came here with family on a Thursday night for trivia and had so much fun! We sat on the tent covered patio portion because that's where the trivia was. Although it was a very cold night the tent was completely closed so it was not unbearably cold inside. They do have a small parking lot but parking was full when we got there so we had to park across the street and walk. Not too far. My husband and I were not too hungry so we ordered a jumbo pretzel with cheese sauce to split. I added a side of fried jalapeños for $1. The prices here are very good. The pretzel was very good as well. Big and warm with just the right amount of salt. Everything I tried here I really enjoyed. My husband ordered the Kentucky bourbon ale and I had (a couple lol) chocolate peanut butter imperial stouts. A great time, great food and great beer was had by all. We came in third in trivia and won a gift card! They give the top 3 prizes! Woo hoo! I live in Florida but would definitely come here again on another visit!

Yelp
Came here for a few drinks before a concert, we got a beer and a mixed drink. The service was wonderful and the pretzel was cooked to perfection! Definitely a great place to stop before any show/concert!

Yelp
Crowded. Good beer selection. Limited parking. Complicated: you had to go online give them a credit card to be charged and then get the charge removed after you ordered food and drink. IF you could find a parking space. Food was pretty iffy and there was no table service. You had to go up an order and then it got delivered.

Yelp
This is such a cool bar and I'm bummed that my experience here was so rushed. Alas, I had tickets to the Lizzo concert at the Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre which is right next to VBGB. I was really wanting a cocktail before the concert started so I was grateful to find VBGB. They have an awesome outdoor area with picnic tables and volleyball courts. Indoors they have a really cool odd shaped bar with plenty of seating and lots of other seating options inside too. The Bartenders are attentive and quick. They know what they're doing. When I walked in, I was worried that the drinks would be expensive because of their proximity to the Amphitheatre, so I was super pleased to find out that my whiskey ginger was only $6.50. A great price considering the location. I will definitely come here again next time I'm in Charlotte, it has a super fun vibe that just made me want to come back.

Yelp
The staff was very pleasant, although my person misunderstood my order. They made good on it. This is a good gathering place.

Yelp
Pitcher beer? What?!! There is more outside seating then inside; but that's no problem for VBGB. They have the mega tent. They have a beer on tap for everyone and their food is basically, food truck food. Good news it's not bad; but, I would love to see more vegetables! Basic Burger with beer cheese- the bun was bigger than the hamburger and we split the burger. I got the smaller half. I was mad; because, it was a good burger. Beer cheese nachos- with Jalapeños and sour cream too. Next time no sour cream. I'm not a fan of sour cream, so someone needs to remind me. It's always a fun time with or without the kids at VBGB! Cheers

Yelp
VBGB is a rare gem in Charlotte! You can get food, beer, and play volleyball all in one place. It's located next to the Music Factory, making it the perfect spot to stop in before or after a show. The food window inside has a few bar bites options. Get the totchos, they are a staple. Grab a giant beer from the bar and sit outside and enjoy hanging with friends or watching a sand volleyball game that is likely to be going on. The bathrooms have plenty of stalls, but do get a little hot in the summer and dirty later into the night. Parking is fairly easy as there are a few spots, if you get lucky right outside, street parking on the adjacent street, and a big lot across the street. Just say you are going to VBGB and you may not have to pay on concert nights.

Yelp
After volunteering with my co-workers we stopped by for drinks and a few of us ordered food. It was a Tuesday and they don't open until 4pm. I don't do beer but they had a few holiday cocktails on special so I order the holiday punch(rum punch) which was served in a mug and was perfect.......not strong and very fruity. Most of my co-workers ordered beer and enjoyed their drinks as well. It is very dark inside which took a little getting used to. There is a walk up window in the corner to place your order and you're given a number and they bring it over to you. I ordered they pulled chicken sandwich on a soft pretzel roll with bbq sauce and sweet potato fries..........yummy! Everything was great for a Tuesday night, the chicken, the fries, and the drinks. They also have a cool iced area around the bar that you can sit your drink on to keep it cold, really neat.

Yelp
VBGB is a super fun place to grab food and a beer, especially right before you head into the amphitheater for a concert. If you are going before a concert, give yourself extra time because they do get busy. Even when busy though, the food is always great and delivered quickly. They have a ton of great bar food options. The totchos are a must try!

Yelp
Very mixed emotions on this one. The parking being $20 to park in their parking lot was a strange first step. Sure, once you order food or drinks they have a QR code you can scan to validate it and you pay nothing, but you have to spend the time putting all of your vehicle and credit card information online first. Very unnecessary. Once we got inside, the service was very friendly. They have a food counter and a beer counter so we had to order and pay twice. Apparently if you order drinks first (with an open tab) you can then loop in the food orders onto a single check. Kind of disjointed, but whatever. They had a great selection of draft beers/ciders. My wife wanted to get a flight (four beers) but it was going to be $12 for what equates to a single 16 oz pour, which is outrageous, so she just settled for a single beer for half the price and the same amount of liquid. The fries were good, the beer cheese mac was tasty, the $13.50 burger was a frozen patty that was so salty that we didn't even finish it when we were sharing. It was borderline inedible. Location seems to be the driving factor for its business. Service was great, food was meh, prices were high, parking was a pain. Not somewhere we will come back to.
