This Tropical Island Has 365 Beaches—One for Every Day of the Year

"The island's main international airport with regular direct service from major North American hubs and occasional transatlantic flights, generally well connected but subject to seasonal reductions in summer that can affect flight availability." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. This airport is very clean. Moves pretty fast and easy to navigate. They have restaurants once you pass security. I would’ve given it five stars however, I was unable to use my priority pass and go to the lounge as it was booked by a specific company and their employees. They weren’t letting other members in.

✈️ V.C. Bird International Airport – Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬 ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) As someone who travels frequently through the Caribbean and often uses V.C. Bird International Airport while in transit, I’ve recently had the opportunity to fully experience the airport during longer stays in Antigua—and I must say, it’s been quite impressive. The airport is modern, exceptionally clean, and well-organized, which is always refreshing to see in the region. Though compact in size, the facilities are well maintained, and the staff—both at the counters and throughout the terminal—are friendly and helpful, creating a smooth experience from check-in to departure. That said, there are two key areas where improvements would elevate the experience even further: 1. Wi-Fi Access 📶: The airport offers 15 minutes of free internet, but the amount of personal information required to access it feels excessive—especially for a brief browsing session. In comparison to other Caribbean destinations where Wi-Fi is more accessible and less intrusive, this approach feels outdated and unnecessary. Antigua is a tourism-driven country; connectivity should be seamless and welcoming. 2. Immigration & Customs Forms 🛂: Many Caribbean nations have transitioned to digital entry forms, which help reduce paper waste and streamline the arrival process. It’s surprising that Antigua has not yet adopted this standard, and I hope to see this change in the near future. Additionally, for those arriving on smaller aircraft, be prepared for a bit of a walk to and from the terminal. While not a major issue, it’s something travelers should be aware of. Overall, V.C. Bird International Airport delivers a pleasant and efficient airport experience. With a few digital upgrades and more traveler-friendly Wi-Fi policies, it could easily become a standout hub in the region.

This is a nice Caribbean airport with efficient arrival and departure; we had no significant delays with either. Good food options by Gate 1 (though not exactly cheap). Really nice gift shop.

Seriously improved Executive Lounge at VC Bird International Airport in Antigua & Barbuda. The service has improved phenomenally; the welcome desk, the waiting staff, bar, food, out door terrace area, it’s all flowing much much better. Lovely, lovely staff that serve you food rather than the old style ‘help yourself buffet’.

The VC Bird International Airport (ANU), located on the island of Antigua, is the country's primary airport. Named after the nation's first Prime Minister, Vere Cornwall Bird, the airport serves as a major gateway to the Eastern Caribbean. With a runway length of 9,000 feet, VC Bird International Airport accommodates large commercial jets and cargo aircraft. The airport's terminal building has undergone significant renovations, offering modern amenities, including duty-free shopping, restaurants, and lounges. VC Bird International Airport is a hub for inter-island carriers, such as LIAT, and welcomes flights from major international airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and British Airways. The airport's strategic location enables convenient connections to other Caribbean islands, making it an essential transportation hub for the region.

A small but clean and modern airport, offering a good service with a reasonable number of shops and restaurants. Immigration can be a bit slow when dealing with large arrivals and departures.

Made it through immigration in about 20 minutes. The restaurants inside the place were pretty good. All the airport staff was helpful. Bathrooms were clean so we're the floors.

We departed from this airport just this week. It’s one of the cleanest and most organized airports we have been to. The bathrooms were immaculate. As soon as we walked in to check in, there were helpful employees making sure we knew where to go. We didn’t try any restaurants but the food from the Big Banana smelled amazing. Immigration and security went smoothly and again very nice and friendly. When we came in to the country, customs was easy and friendly as well.
