The 15 Best Hotels in Santorini of 2024

"Vedema is a World's Best Awards 2021 winner located in the quaint village of Megalochori. The building has a rich history, having been previously used as a wine cellar and a private mansion. Now, it offers suites and full estates like the Nafsika Estate, ideal for families or groups, which comes with five bedrooms, a private pool, and butler service." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Incredible resort and unforgettable family vacation. Exceeded all expectations! The hospitality here is unmatched, the caring and authenticity behind all aspects of elevating our stay has been amazing. The villas are spacious, spotless, modern and quiet. As a lifelong Marriott member, this is probably the nicest reception and acknowledgment of membership from a property we have received in our travels. The village is perfect and provides a non touristy experience of living on the island. Thanks to all staff for going above and beyond…highly recommend!

This is a wonderful place to stay. All the staff cannot do enough for you. Very authentic Greek buildings and cobblestone walkways. Truly a great spot. The quaint village has a few restaurants, a winery and some leather and jewelry stores. However it is small but neat. Breakfast is very enjoyable with a good selection of food. There are 2 pools, one by the breakfast area which we preferred. The catamaran cruise they arranged for us was fantastic. A great place.

Vedema Resort met every expectation we had. Its location in the quaint Megalochori village was perfect - away from tourists and very beautiful. Megalochori itself is a cute little village with outside tavernas and shops, and only a 15 min walk from Heart of Santorini and 20 min walk from Venetsanos winery. The hotel had 2 very nice pool areas with great service, delicious complimentary breakfast, and a fitness center. Our room was spacious and had many amenities, with a beautiful view. We also enjoyed the onsite Alati restaurant. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to avoid the crowds of Oia or Fira.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a level of luxury, privacy, and personalized service that exceeded all expectations.||The villa itself was absolutely stunning. The highlight was the private infinity pool overlooking the vineyards. Paired with a massive terrace, it provided the perfect setting for relaxation during the day and unforgettable evenings under the stars. The views were breathtaking, and the sense of space and exclusivity was unlike anything we’ve experienced before.||Warm, friendly, and welcoming staff. The hotel is beautiful and spotless, and the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was the best I’ve ever experienced, with lots of choices, and even when it was busy, it didn’t feel overcrowded. Everything was well-maintained, and the service was good. ||We love the wine tasting at the Canava wine bar, Eleni was amazing. ||Thank you a lot to the front desk - concierge for making us a full schedule with recommendations and activities around the island. Especially thank Meridona & Charris. ||We look forward to coming back!

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Vedema. Overall check-in went smoothly, and the hotel property was nicely maintained. Hotel staff during our stay were attentive and helpful. Our room was nice - although I would say don’t expect stunning views from any of the rooms. The hotel is like a little collection of villa style buildings in the village of Megalochori. The pools were nice, although the water is quite chilly. Breakfast service was good - but the breakfasts were probably the least interesting of any hotel breakfasts during our trip to Greece. We would actually have preferred a nice buffet over the made to order selections. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, so I would skip the hotel restaurants as they are a bit overpriced. The only negative on service was a recommendation to visit their sister resort beach club using the free shuttle. That beach club was awful - dull beach; dirty loungers; terrible food; inattentive service. Avoid it at all costs and visit Seaside Santorini beach club if you want a nice beach visit. By the way, we were very happy to stay in this area vs. staying in Oia- which was too “disneyfied” for us.

The hotel setting and rooms are breathtaking. We stayed at one of the large villas with private pool, kitchen, dining area and living room. Everything was well appointed and perfect in every way, I wish we could have spent more time at the resort! The service was warm and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. We had dinner in the ancient cave restaurant with an excellent Viognier (with grapes grown and bottled on Santorini) Any request was graciously accommodated. Wish I could give it 6 stars.

This hotel is a beautiful property. We stayed in a relatively new suite with two rooms. We were very pleased with the aesthetics and the cleanliness. The service was also very good. The staff kept replenishing goods like towels, coffee and cream, and water bottles. Our beds were made daily. The only reason I have to give this hotel a 4-star is because the location is very remote from Fira, the capital of Santorini. The transfers there and back were 40-50 euros each way. The town where it stands is gorgeous, yet small and there are 3 restaurants nearby and an ice cream shop. The choices are not enough but are very good.

First up this is a benchmark versus the rest of Santorini options which will leave people reconsider the island entirely. We chose Vedema because it is a proper resort inland versus the overhyped balcony options in Oia. It turned out to be the right choice. Staff in general is super professional- except certain parts of housekeeping. It is my best belief that housekeeping, especially the sub Saharan team is hired via some sort of contractor who has some sort of KPI to meet. They do not respect when told not to enter the room and the “do not disturb” sign is on the door. I told them clearly and they did not respect it. Breakfast is like an F1 team. They know 💯 what they are doing led by Panos, Sam and co. One of the best breakfasts I have had in years. The fact that all breakfast is a la carte is naturally magical instead of the buffets from hell. The only thing I can flag for management to consider is to be more commercial. If you are already a high paying guest and want to buy an upgrade, then don’t take the piss. Offer half the difference between your existing rate paid and what is the rack rate for the upgrade. Don’t charge more than rack rates - it seems ridiculing. Pool bar prices need to be taken down a notch or two. Eur 22 for the cheapest cocktail and not a customer in sight. Eur 8-9 for a cappuccino - maybe it is just Santorini, but these prices are beyond Dubai…. And one funny last thing: It is cheaper to book a transfer via the hotel than the shakedown prices of “princess transfers” in the Port. I remain gobsmacked as to the prices Santorini command.
