The 15 Best Hotels in Santorini of 2024

"Vedema is a World's Best Awards 2021 winner located in the quaint village of Megalochori. The building has a rich history, having been previously used as a wine cellar and a private mansion. Now, it offers suites and full estates like the Nafsika Estate, ideal for families or groups, which comes with five bedrooms, a private pool, and butler service." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We highly recommend this location. They worked with us when we had travel issues in our departing city to ensure we still had our room. The room type was spacious and offered room for a family. They anticipated our needs and was very relaxing. Location is not near the main tourist area but you can arrange transportation. They have a private beach property and was quiet if you are looking for a low key area. Breakfast was great. I loved a quick sit down versus buffet. If you are an avid cat lover and heard about Greece with cats, this is one location you may come across them.

What a fabulous vacation we had on Santorini in a good part due to selecting this hotel. Great location away from the cruise ship crowds that go through Fira and onto Oi. We rented a car which was ideal. Airport 15 minutes, Oi 30-40 minutes, Fira 15 minutes , Perissa Beach 15 minutes. Highly recommend looking at the cruise ship schedule before visiting Oi or Fira! We went to Fira on a non cruise ship day and it was great! The hotel is located in a small village and the local restaurants and shops were fantastic. The hotel itself is beautifully laid out. We highly enjoyed the main pool area with a bar and restaurant. It was relatively easy to secure pool chairs any time of day. Only a few pre pool time chair savers. I would say compared to other hotels, there is less pool service here re; clean towels bin sometimes empty, a couple of days chairs not cleaned from birds, but overall staff were quite nice and walking up to the bar or getting your own towels is not a game changer in terms of my rating. The staff were very welcoming everywhere we went on property. Our 2 room/2 bath suite with kitchen/living room area was huge and welcoming and most of all spotless with the room serviced daily and an evening turndown. The hotel food is also highly recommended. We did the wine tasting and it was well done. This was family trip with a 1 and 2 year old and honestly Santorini and Vedema turned out to be more fabulous than we had hoped!

Vedema is a true Greek dream. Imagine waking up in a Santorini casita, surrounded by peace, beauty, and elegance — yet only a 20-minute drive away from the bustling towns. This is the Santorini experience without the crowds, and it feels absolutely perfect.||One of my favorite details? The adults-only pool. A thoughtful touch for those who crave tranquility — and the fact that Vedema is pet-friendly made it even more special. Your dog is welcome to rest by the pool, sharing in the luxury lifestyle.||The rooms are stunning. Casita-style suites filled with character, and the Olympian Villas — grand, perfectly decorated, and spotless. It’s luxury with authenticity.||Food was an experience in itself. Every bite, from breakfast to lunch to dinner at Alati, captured Greek flavors in a refined way. The drinks menu was wide and creative — a little on the pricey side, but beautifully crafted.||And then there’s the service. Sam deserves a special mention for his warmth and genuine hospitality, and the management team for all the thoughtful details that made my stay feel unique.||Vedema is more than a resort; it’s a story of Greek luxury done right. I couldn’t be happier to welcome them into the Book the Room community. Absolutely Book the Room approved. For more reviews and pictures visit my IG profile book the room

Outstanding from the moment we arrived. ||All the staff were attentive and very very helpful. Clearing trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible. ||Accommodation perfect. Big light, airy room with a spacious balcony for enjoying the sun.||We attended the hotels wine tasting which was fabulous, some interesting wines and a very knowledgeable host.||We had a slight hic up with taxis and delays but the staff were quick to sort and offered a complimentary trip due to the long wait in the sun. This was a kind gesture. ||Sadly my husband lost his prescription glasses and the hotel did all they could to help find them - particular the taxi driver employed by the hotel he went above and beyond. We didn’t find them 😔 ||We would definitely return to this hotel. If visiting Santorini avoid staying in the busy Tira and Oia (definitely worth visiting though) and stay here - small village but idyllic with some great authentic Greek restaurants in the square. ||Very happy to give this hotel ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Vedema is a gorgeous hotel off the beaten path in Santorini. I was a little worried about the location before booking but I was so glad to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Fira and Oia. The service at Vedma was top notch and everyone was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast was very good and a few nights we ordered dinner in for the kids. They were thrilled to find chicken nuggets and pizza, while we were able to get traditional Greek food at a local taverna.||The villa itself was very clean and had gorgeous views of white washed buildings. We strolled around the cute neighborhood right before sunset one evening and took the best pictures of alleyways, blue dome roofs and without all the crowds! Do not miss Mr. Scoop, just around the corner from the hotel for the most amazing gelato.||If you are looking to be away from the busyness of Fira or Oia, I would highly recommend Vedema.

This resort was located in Megalochori. There was a bus stop by walking 400 meters with Ktel bus to Fira costing 2 Euro. The bus lines between Fira and Akrotiri/Perissa will stop here so the frequency in daylight was ok ( around 20-30 minutes). This resort was designed to different types of villas. We received a room upgrade to a suite with two floors and jacuzzi which was very comfortable. Breakfast was very delicious to provide a variety of menu orders.

This hotel is a beautiful property. We stayed in a relatively new suite with two rooms. We were very pleased with the aesthetics and the cleanliness. The service was also very good. The staff kept replenishing goods like towels, coffee and cream, and water bottles. Our beds were made daily. The only reason I have to give this hotel a 4-star is because the location is very remote from Fira, the capital of Santorini. The transfers there and back were 40-50 euros each way. The town where it stands is gorgeous, yet small and there are 3 restaurants nearby and an ice cream shop. The choices are not enough but are very good.

First up this is a benchmark versus the rest of Santorini options which will leave people reconsider the island entirely. We chose Vedema because it is a proper resort inland versus the overhyped balcony options in Oia. It turned out to be the right choice. Staff in general is super professional- except certain parts of housekeeping. It is my best belief that housekeeping, especially the sub Saharan team is hired via some sort of contractor who has some sort of KPI to meet. They do not respect when told not to enter the room and the “do not disturb” sign is on the door. I told them clearly and they did not respect it. Breakfast is like an F1 team. They know 💯 what they are doing led by Panos, Sam and co. One of the best breakfasts I have had in years. The fact that all breakfast is a la carte is naturally magical instead of the buffets from hell. The only thing I can flag for management to consider is to be more commercial. If you are already a high paying guest and want to buy an upgrade, then don’t take the piss. Offer half the difference between your existing rate paid and what is the rack rate for the upgrade. Don’t charge more than rack rates - it seems ridiculing. Pool bar prices need to be taken down a notch or two. Eur 22 for the cheapest cocktail and not a customer in sight. Eur 8-9 for a cappuccino - maybe it is just Santorini, but these prices are beyond Dubai…. And one funny last thing: It is cheaper to book a transfer via the hotel than the shakedown prices of “princess transfers” in the Port. I remain gobsmacked as to the prices Santorini command.
