Vegan Junk Food Bar

Food: we had the tasting platter that had a range of the starter/share dishes on it, chips and a burger. The tasting plate was quite good, the texture of all the dishes emulated their meat counterparts very well! The flavours were also good. The burgers were nice, but a little bland for me. The sauces that came with the tasting platter were good, but the blue one threw me off a bit - it’s a bit gimmicky. Overall the food was good and I enjoyed my dinner here. I would return for another meal and would recommend this to vegans. Service was good, the wait staff were attentive and worked efficiently. Environment was nice, the outdoor area has heating and the toilets were clean.

I ordered the Caesar Salad as well as the cheese and bacon burger, with a bottle of water. Overall I was very happy with the meal. The Caesar Salad was very fresh and delicious. The sauce was very good also and I was happy to see something that used to be a favourite but is rarely in vegan restaurants. It complimented the burger perfectly. With the burger, the bun, the cheese, the sauce, and lettuce were very good. The bacon was good enough for the impact but I’ve tasted better. The burger patty was still very good but I’ve tasted better and I feel they should research how to make a better one. It’s not as good as the moving mountains one, and I feel any restaurant should be able to do better than a factory. But it was still and excellent meal and will be returning the next time I’m in Amsterdam. Downloading an app to order in somewhere you are not visiting regularly is however an inconvenience and don’t really feel it is going to enhance the experience ever. The do however take personal orders if you ask.

Simply amazing!!! Amsterdam in general is great for vegan food but this place might be one of the best. Food was extremely filling and even the non-vegan in our group was blown away. Staff are great, good location with outdoor seating for a sunny day. Their app they use for ordering seems a bit slow or awkward for the staff to use so hopefully they get that sorted or use a new system but I didn’t impact the meal - just seemed like the staff didn’t like just it. Overall if you’re vegan - 100% come here. If you’re not it’s worth a try ;)

Great atmosphere and food! I had the classic vegan bitterballen with a side of sweet potato fries. It was a lot to finish for one person. Super tasty - really enjoyed the balls! Heaps of outdoor and indoor seating (2 floors) with RnB music playing.

This is my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. I have taken many meat lovers here and they have even told me they liked the food. As the name suggests, it is ‘junk’ food so it is all sorts of foods that you have enjoyed throughout your life made in a vegan way. From ribs, to burgers, to fish, to better balls, and kapsalon, you can have whatever you wish without worry if you are a vegetarian/vegan. I highly recommend this place. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and they also play great music.

This is the second time I visit this veggy bar. And I finally tried their famous burger, to be honest, I expected more from the taste, but I was still satisfied because it’s been a long time since I wanted to try this colorful, fashionable burger. I would like to note that their cocktails are simply incredible, from the design to the taste, everything is perfect. Also I liked the graffiti interior and the friendly staff!!Must recommended place to visit . Ps:You can buy the fancy clothes from vegan junk food bar with pink prints and cool style .😎

Food was amazing! We loved it. 🥰 The tables are a bit small, though, which is why I ended up knocking over my friend's ice coffee. However, I understand that such a popular location can't offer huge tables.

Im very happy that this is finally a thing, so much of the junk food is non vegan so its amazing to have this option! I had the smash burger and fries. The fries were ok, nothing special, the burger also alright. I think, given the price, there is room for improvement for the burger, the patty could be bigger and the overall burger could be a bit crispier. The toppings-to-bread ration could be better, i found the brioche bun overwhelmed the other ingredients. Personally i prefer the plant based whopper from burger king over this burger and this one is more expensive. We went for lunch at 12 on a weekday, takeaway, did not have to queue, and were served very quickly. Great service.

OMMMGGGG!!! I can not say enough about this place, I was in heaven!!! We had such a great table upstairs with a great view. Everyone here was so sweet and friendly. The food was delicious this has a street rebel, girly vibe. The decor was cute and the menus and drinks matches the atmosphere. Please please please add this to your list of places to check out!

The food here is AMAZING!! There's a lot of shareables to split between the group. The portion sizing is also pretty good.

Tasty vegan burgers in a fun atmosphere. The fries were also excellent. The pink bun is a little silly but the taste was good!

Not so sure if any of the sumo was freshly fried, and the service was weak. All 4 sauces tasted exactly the same the only difference was color. I did only eat these items so no idea what the other stuff was like but I should warn it's not that good. Meh. Ambiance gets it the 3 star. It was nice seating and lots of it.

This place is awesome! Everything is vegan that you can eat, and would never know it. Just order your food from your table, and they bring it to you. If you don't like hip-hop, R&B, and/or pop music then that might be an issue for you. If it's not, then this is a 10 out of 10 for sure.

This was a vegan restaurant experience at a whole different level! The ambiance, service, atmosphere, and vibe all exceeded expectations. There was a small 5 minute wait but we'll worth it. Upon being seated upstairs we ordered via cell by QR code (located on our table) We ordered the Nacho Nacho for an appetizer and the Notorious and VGFB Cheezy Chikn with fries for the entree's. The Nachos with the meat and cheese were delicious! The VGFB Chick'n that I ordered was good but I added bacon and that was a mistake. I'll be sure to order without vegan bacon next time. Jasmine enjoyed the Notorious burger and fries. She also had the Holy Dragon and gave it a thumbs up. What really stands out about this place was the large selection of vegan options, the trendy atmosphere and the upbeat music playing in the background. Highly recommend VJFB if you're in the area!

I ordered the cruelty free burger which was great. My partner ordered the Heppi ribs and wasn't as happy with her meal or her onion rings. Our meal was quite expensive, and they charge per order of condiment; ketchup, etc. Overall I am giving it 5 stars because my burger as fantastic.

Lovely place with delicious food and friendly staff. Place has nice seating and good vibe.Menu is awesome. Our appetite only allowed some but would certainly recommend this place for everyone. We tried Sumo platter which is good of all sharing items and they were very good with MVP being Flamboyant Shrimp and their burgers were out of this world.Just go have fun

Was in Amsterdam over the weekend and looking for new food options. Found this on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. Menu had a good variety of items. I went with the Heppi Ribs and fries. Food was delivered in expected amount of time and was very good. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day, so the patio was full of people eating and drinking. I will definitely try this place again the next time I'm in town. Price was reasonable, so good value for money.

I wasn't into it, but I can see a younger crowd being more appreciative of their funky foods. Boyfriend had a burger and said the fake cheese was too overpowering. For a place that specializes in vegan foods that surprised me. I had freaky rainbow fries. Just fries with chemically rainbow colored sauce drizzled all over it. Service was alright. Ambiance was fine. Overall not worth walking to the other side of the city center for.

We love this place, we go to Europe every other year and this is definitely our stop twice while we're in Amsterdam!!

We walked over an hour to get here and arrived 20 minutes early. I was very excited! But then the server came out and told us we weren't allowed to sit there until they were officially open otherwise they'd have a "patio full of people" but isn't that a good thing? She continued to be weird and bossy with everyone. The food was underwhelming but they dye it different colors so I guess that's why people like it

My family and I already already figuring out how we can visit the other locations of Vegan Junk Food Bar because this was hands down the best bar food I have ever had- Vegan or otherwise. And I'm not vegan and neither is my 16 y.o. son! IDK what kind of voodoo they are performing in the kitchen there, but The vegan fish tasted like fried fish and the chicken strips were extraordinary- I thought we'd hear them clucking. 10/5!!

Unsure as to why the reviews for this place are not better...hands down best vegan food we have ever eaten, anywhere at anytime. With the "beyond meat" and "impossible burger" craze happing Stateside right now, it's fun to note these folks have been doing it up this way for a few years now like it's nothing. How do these guys do it? We had these sweet potato shawarma fries which tasted amazing, and split two sandwiches that were absolutely wonderful. Made us even question becoming vegans for a hot minute. Pictures can't quite capture the experience, so go and check it out for yourself. Yum.

I heard from a friend this was a cool spot to try. Got here and it was pretty full on the patio but completely empty on the inside. I waited like a good girl as there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. While I did, 4 different waiters passed me by without acknowledgment and 4 groups took a seat inside without waiting to be seated. I finally grew tired of standing like an idiot and asked one of the waiters if I could just sit anywhere. What happened next is the reason there is no food discussed in this review. The waiter told me that I would have to wait as they were quite busy, and when I asked about all the other people that arrived after me, he said: "you don't have to be so bitchy".

If I could recommend any vegan restaurant to vegans and non-vegans, it would be Vegan Junk food bar. The service was good, the host and waitress were nice and very informative of the food and made great recommendations. VJB is known for their vegan burgers, but instead I got their sashimi. I got it mainly out of curiosity. The texture of the sashimi was very similar to real sashimi which is impressive. Wasn't the biggest fan of the sashimi, but my company had gotten other dishes which I had bites of which was good. The drinks were excellent and I highly advise trying their drinks. I got the tipsy unicorn which was vodka, blue curaçao liquor, lychee juice, blueberry purée, and lemon juice. Could barely taste the alcohol. Next time I'm back, I'll have to try their burgers.

Overpriced food and crazy long wait. Food was mediocre at best. Great waffle Fries and sweet potato fries. But the plant based burger and plant based chicken-like patty were not great. Strange texture and flavor. For 4 of us at dinner it took about 1 hour to get carry out and was over €100 for a meal I would not ever order or eat again. Very disappointed

Definitely worth eating at while in Amsterdam! Quick service and delicious food. My husband and I arrived and waited in a short line (great food typically has a wait). We ordered the chikn Caesar salad and the original burger. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. Food came out quick and hot especially factoring how busy they were, all employees we interacted with were helpful and friendly. If we lived in the area we could definitely eat here probably weekly. Thanks for The delicious vegan options! PS I encourage any one to eat here vegan or not, you won't know the difference from food you typically eat give it a try and enjoy knowing it's cruelty free!

Some of the best vegan meat I've had in my life. I also liked how creative their food was and how nice the waiter was. They also have free internet, just ask for the password.

I was surprised by how dead this place was. I thought the food was delicious. The service was good to, but be sure you get their attention and call them over when you need something. I ordered the chickn salad and we shared the bitterballen. I would recommend getting the sampler, but if I went again I would get the falafel flavored only. They were awesome. I ordered their signature beer with the unicorn on it. Not my favorite, but it was ok. Didn't help that it wasn't ice cold. I would give this place another try so I can give them that extra star I know they can earn.

Had a great meal and drink. Burger was delicious. Loved the pink and black bun. The staff was friendly and had an awesome experience.

First place we visit when we visit Amsterdam. Creative menu and fun place to hangout. Food is amazing.

I didn't expect a proper sit down restaurant but that's what this was. We got seated very fast since we were just a small party of two. The wait for bigger parties was a bit longer. I brought my boyfriend, who is not plant based, and he also found the food to be delicious. I've been waiting months to come here (I'm from California) and I can happily say that the food and service did not disappoint. I can't wait to come back later this year. Very good food

Vegan Junk Food Bar's food was massive and so colorful! Everything was delicious. I enjoyed their Daddy Mc Chik'n, which really did taste like a fast food chicken sandwich. My dad LOVED the Pinky Bratwurst [censored]. It was seriously amazing with the two different kinds of mayo sauces. My brother loved the Royal Hulky, it totally tasted like authentic shawarma! The coconut curry bitterballs were flavorful and paired perfectly with the sweet chili sauce. And we absolutely loved the sweet potato fries with the pink garlic sauce. Definitely worth a visit!

If you come during prime time then there may be a wait, but it is worth it. I visited from NYC and had the Velvet Passion drink and the Shrimp and Sausage roll. Both were delicious! We shared the calamari and it was amazing. It tasted like the real thing. So real I could only eat 2. My sister had the Holy Dragon drink and that was delicious as well. If you are looking for a clean vegan place this is not for you. Vegan Junk Food is what it is and it is awesome.

Delicious vegan food and great cocktails. The restaurant is pink and trendy. They offer vegan salads and burgers and have delicious fries. The menu seemed like a lot of American food. The vegan meat tasted exactly like real beef in the burger and the vegan chicken in the salad even fooled my non-vegan boyfriend. They spilt the checks to give us 4 individual ones which was nice, too. The location of this restaurant is central and on a great street with a lot of other trendy bars and fun night life. We care here for dinner and drinks before exploring the bars in this area and it couldn't have been more perfect!

Great food, quick friendly service, good atmosphere. I ate the Daddy McChkn which had a tasty crispy patty, very good cheese, flavorful sauce, and plenty of veggies. Looking forward to returning and trying the rest of the menu.

The food was amazing! The burger I got was 12.5€ and I was full for the entire afternoon. The staff is friendly and everyone speaks English. We didn't have to wait at all and we were able to order take-away. Easily one of the best vegan food I ever got. Would recommend!

Oh my. So good. Had the mc daddy chicken and my husband had the loaded fries. The food was perfect, I'll probably be back all my days in Amsterdam. Drinks are good too, we had a bottle of wine in 2 ppl and a gin drink. All surprisingly good. Overall, highly recommended. Thanks founders for creating better than carnivorous junk food!!!!!

If you are craving for vegan junk food and not in a hurry this might be a good place. We ordered burgers and truffle fries. And then we waited and waited... Forty five minutes waiting for lunch is not acceptable. Nevertheless the food was fantastic. Great food but bad management.

I ordered a gin and tonic and they brought me tonic water and a glass of ice. I asked if I could have gin for my tonic water, waitress took the glass and returned as if she had topped it off but the drink was still clearly pure tonic. Very weird.

massive portions and amazing vegan options that can be hard to come by. The chik'n Caesar salad was filling, and definitely get a side of fries. At 2:00-3:00, it wasn't busy and service was fast and friendly - however I could imagine it bustling at peak hours. Decor is very cool and a great place to bring friends.

So good! So much variety in food. Decor is fun. There will be a line but it moves quick and it is worth it.

Cool concept and great "junk" food. Fried shrimp are tasty. Cosmic fries are really good. Drinks are flavorful. Big portions and nice design and use of color in many dishes and drinks. I would recommend checking this place out.

Worst service I've ever had. Waited 20 MINUTES FOR A HOSTESS to come. We were the only people in line. The place was dead. We had to ask where she was and a waiter said "probably talking ". We sat down, waited 15 minutes and no one came to get our order. UPDATE: The food was FANTASTIC. CHANGING FROM 1 to 5

Great food and even better display. The colourful options were very cool and the taste was awesome. Large portions for the hungry. The only minus was the loud and annoying music.

The worst experience!!!! Waited in line to get in and then waited for 35 min or more for food that came cold. No cola, the unkind waitress didn't know which food was mine so she started picking in the food what a mess Bees were getting in our drinks all the time. Seems like nobody cared if you're having a nice time or not!Who runs this show???? From all the vegan junk food bar in Amsterdam this is the worst. If you want to enjoy yourself and have a nice time with friends or family STAY AWAY from this place.
