Vegan Junk Food Bar

I was told that VJFB was the top spot to go to in Amsterdam but I was a bit nervous because of all the colours in the buns, sauces etc. but it in no way impacted the taste! So turns out it’s just bonus The service was perfect with staff being attentive and giving recommendations. I ordered the fly wings, which came in a sweet tangy sauce, the protein used was nice and stringy and the coating was crispy, emulating actual chicken wings quite well. I then had the fizz burger, though it could’ve been fishier by adding nori, it was still really tasty. The tartar sauce was great and the vegan flush was light and fresh. Tho I spilled my drink at the end :( I had a great time and will definitely recommend to others!

Having visited a few of the Vegan Junkfood Bars, this one is our favourite! The decor is fantastic, and the cosy atmosphere makes for a great dining experience. The staff are just exceptional, some of the nicest people we came across in Amsterdam. And the food is as amazing as you would expect from any VJFB. So good in fact, that we went 2 nights in a row!

A MUST VISIT!!! I am not really one for vegan food normally, but my partner persuaded me to go with pink food- AND THE FOOD IS SO PINK!! I know this is really typical of a meat eater reviewing vegan food but it tasted so meaty?? Like the kind of vegan food magic where you swear it once had a soul. Staff are super friendly and accommodating! Flat entrance great for access, but no accessible toilet. Thanks for having us! - E

Went here on our last night in Amsterdam and it was lovely the QR code menu wasn't working on our phones so the lovely staff let us order it on their system. We had the double cheeseburger, fries and the daddy 'chicken' burger it was the best vegan 'chicken' I've ever had my husband enjoyed his burger too. It's a great place with lovely vibes, definitely a must visit in Amsterdam.

Amazing vegan place in the city! Everything was super delicious. They have mini as well as regular sized burgers. Hot chocolate was ok and has a lot of foam which I didn’t enjoy much. Tipsy Unicorn cocktail is really nice. Ambience is also great! They had both indoor and terrace dining. Highly recommend!

This place was incredible - we came here every day of our 3 day trip to Amsterdam and never left disappointed. The Daddy McChik'n burger we had during our first visit was quite possibly the best burger I've had, I definitely recommend it. The freak fries are huge (and amazing) - they're definitely intended as a main meal, or maybe a sharing side. Keep in mind the burgers are BIG. Every dish we ordered was honestly spot on. The atmosphere was really relaxed and staff were very friendly, all spoke very good English (as everyone in Amsterdam seems to!). On one of the days we came there was a wait for a table but the staff were very quick at getting everyone seated. They asked if we were okay with sharing a table with two other people, which was absolutely fine. The tables were big enough for it not to matter. It was really great to see a fully vegan place so busy - it's clearly very popular. I'll definitely be coming back when I'm next in Amsterdam!

Live laugh loved everything! Food was amazing, fresh and surprisingly fast delivered! Also, nice service!! The only thing setting me off is the same pattern on the walls and floor 🫢 still, I’d recommend it to everyone who wants some delicious vegan food!

I live in NL and took my US/UK friends to the Vegan Junk Foodbar for the experience, something different. Food was excellent! The gyros bun? Was like a piece of art! They were very suprised and excited! Also the waitress was very kind! The only thing is when people were coming in you felt the Cold breeze from far. Maybe you can change that to put some woolen fly curtain. Last thing there was a smell of cleaning supllies. Its a good thing the cleaned the restaurant ofcourse! But the smell was a bit overwhelming. See you guys soon again!

Tried the fries, currywurst and tenders. The fries were excellent and topped with all kinds of goodness, the sausage was very convincing with meat-like texture and irresistible. The tenders left me rather underwhelmed, but i'll be back to VJFB next chance I get.

This place is for non vegetarians to wean of meat.. for born vegetarian it's a nightmare, it will like you experience eating meat for the first time. I donot recommend this place to born and raised vegetarians .

I'm not vegan, but the vibes? Immaculate. You can't tell me the Daddy burger is not real chicken. SO good. Definitely worth a stop.

A delicious meat alternative option with a huge menu for everyone to enjoy something. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was so kind and helpful. It is so appreciated that there is a vegan place out here to help meat-eaters and vegans a like eat less animals. I didn't feel like crap after eating here either which is awesome because typically with animals products consisting of this type of junk food, it would make me feel bleh. Overall, a hip and tasty place. The prices were a bit steep but I am willing to pay because of the effort made to reduce meat intake and push society in that direction!

Saw photos of Vegan Junk Food Bar online and with positive reviews decided to check it out on our trip to Amsterdam. It's a chain so there are several of them sprinkled throughout the city. This one seemed less busy compared to the others. We ordered the sumo burger, chickn burger, onion rings and truffle fries. They were out of the pink aioli so I opted for the garlic sauce. It's a bright space that makes eating vegan food fun and easy! The only downfall was that it took a long time for us to get our food, almost 40 mins, and the restaurant wasn't even at max capacity. Something about their system messing up and there were a bunch of deliverers coming to pick up food. Pretty much everyone was waiting. They should definitely give priority to guests dining in. The worker didn't apologize for the long wait. Good thing we didn't come too hungry... Bedsides the wait, the food was tasty. My chickn burger was crunchy and a great alternative to meat. I'd come back when I'm in Amsterdam. Wish there was a spot like this in the states.

I've never eaten at a vegan restaurant and was shocked how amazing the food was. The portion sizes were huge and the presentation will have your mouth watering. Be ready for the lines but worth the wait. Run, go now.

Great place, waited in line, sat outside and all 3 of us loved our meals. So much so we came back again on our trip, all people working there are very nice. Told us there would be a wait as only 1 cook that Day, we stayed and had a pitcher of beer as well. Burgers are great

Loved this place! It's very popular and we had to wait for an hour for a table. It was definitely worth the wait though! The various mains and desserts we had were all great and the presentation was really cool. The 'Bulk X Mark Schadenberg' was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The 'Tropic Thunder' cocktail was awesome too. I've deducted one star as the staff weren't brilliant. Most of the servers looked pretty glum and we were also brought our mains without any cutlery to eat them. When we asked our server she said she would get some but didn't. In the end we grabbed our own! Despite the staff issue would still 100% recommend this place.

Fun spot in Amsterdam. Tried the burger and it was aesthetically pleasing but the patty was something out of a 90s old school vegan nightmare. With so many improved vegan meat options like Beyond & Impossible, I hope they upgrade.

Everything was very delicious, prices are decent knowing its amsterdam. Fizz and chips were incredible, the staff was very friendly. Whould come again

I was so excited to check out this place and it more than lives up to the hype. One of the best vegan burgers I've ever had, I enjoyed at Vegan Junk Food Bar. It had the Notorious Sumo burger - it had 2 patties, cheese, an onion ring...phenomenal. I can't wait to try the chicken nuggets, bitterballen and more. Not a lot of tables, some outdoor seating. Food came very quickly. Definitely check it out if you are a vegan or vegetarian in Amsterdam!

Vegan junk food, if that doesn't sound heavenly. It actually tastes amazing and the flavor, spices and unhealthiness all contribute to the experience. Very hip with nice waiters. If only the prices weren't so high... Because of that 4/5 stars, however a big recommendation for every vegan and non-vegan alike

My friends and I heard about Vegan Junk Food Bar from a classmate and decided to check it out. I ordered the shrimp caesar salad and my friend ordered the fresh sashimi. It took quite a while for us to get our food, but when we did we were in for a surprise. Both of our plates tasted and look like actual seafood. We were truly amazed and satisfied with our orders! The interior is also very colorful and has a cool atmosphere. Definitely check this place out!

This place is amazing; atmosphere, food, and service! The portion sizes are hugeeee. We had the shwarma, which was practically spilling out of the pink bun. The taste was great; it had full flavor in every bite. The flashy fries don't disappoint, with sweet potato fries and full Mexican flavor. My friend had the Daddy McChik'n, which was not dry at all. Try this place at least once; it won't disappoint!

So delicious. Food came out fast. I got the regular burger, truffle fries and a ginger ale. €19.25 Decor is dope. Outside seating very nice and serene. Highly recommend for all vegan/vegetarian travelers.

Nice place. It gets pretty popular at night so expect to wait a little. The burgers and fries we had were delicious. I'm not vegan but I still definitely enjoyed the meal. Easygoing and chill place, service was good but they could use more waitresses. Sometimes ours was too busy and it was hard to get her attention.

Heard great things. Had the "chicken" burger with fries. It was all delicious, quality vegan food. I was so full. The burgers are HUGE. Portions are generous from the different dishes we had at our table. Delicious! Staff were lovely. Bought the shirt!!

A bit confusing when you go inside the store, there were a lot of people and the staff was kinda busy so we were kinda lost haha, but went outside to decide food then wait. We had to wait 40 min.... the hamburger (sumo) was really yummy and big and the "chicken" burger was okay! The tries were so so. Overall, wouldn't come back but still glad I went :)

Vegan Junk Food Bar was an unexpected surprise and pleasure for us. We were frustrated by trying to find a different business, saw VJFB, and decided to try it out. It's very popular, for very good reasons! The service is friendly, prompt, and courteous, and the food is amazing. Try the Sumo burger, a Bacchanalian feast in a bun!

Wow. As someone who definitely will not go out of his way for Vegan food. We couldn't help but notice the large crowd outside, some actually wearing t shirts with "Vegan" on it and everyone wearing black. Regardless of your "politics" on food, this is the most delicious burger I've had in Europe. The sauces, freshness of the ingredients and the double vegetable patty all combined a level of harmony unforeseen. We also had the parm + truffle fries, cheese spring roll (is that vegan?)

Bomb ass vegan fast food! We got loaded fries, the Sumo Burger (which is my recommendation from the menu) and croquettes. All that with truffle sauce on the side... We devoured it all!

I'm not vegan, but I am mostly vegetarian. And, I feel like I spend far too much of my time in search of a delicious and masticatable veggie burger. Just cuz it ain't meat, doesn't mean I don't want to chew. I. Love. This. Burger. And the fries are killer! Try the mayo--vegan so it's lemony and fresh. Twice in ten days...must be an addiction!

I'm vegetarian and it's always nice to see vegan/vegetarian friendly places! What I find especially nice about this place is that it offers food that's usually meat, but they somehow find a way to replace it with a vegan version. Even though I'm vegetarian I used to love the flavour of meat products, so I'm very happy with this kind of place! I ordered bitterballen with onion rings and both were very tasty! The bitterballen tasted totally legit! I'd like to try out the other dishes they have and I'll surely visit them again sometime!

A little pricey, but the food was delicious, we had a great time and the place absolutely packed! Would definitely go again. The fairly limited (not negative) menu made it easy to pick something from all the options. Friendly staff, quick service, clean floors and tables.

Best vegan junky food in The Netherlands!! Go here to try my ultimate favorite: the loaded fries, fries topped with shoarma meat, cheese, peppers, onions and yummy sauce. It is PERFECT!! And a huge portion so it would be best to share so you can order some other yummy stuff to try as well; the burger and the bitterballen are amazing too. The staff is pretty shit here but the food is just too awesome to even be bothered by that

The food was so filing and it tasted amazing! I had a burger, sweet potato fries and cheese sticks. Very rich flavours and good texture on the burger beef. Pricing was very fair. I really liked the cheese sticks, reminded me of mozzarella sticks. The customer service was very good as well. Only downside is that you cannot pay cash.

Really amazing overall experience. The customer service is outstanding - I felt like I was chatting with some old friends. Me and my friend ordered a Sumo burger, bitter ballen and the loaded fries. Everything was delicious but after splitting the burger and bitter ballen we were already pretty full. The loaded fries are delicious just very filling and huge! I'm already looking forward to the next time I go! Dankje VJFB :)

Best vegan burger I've ever had. So much flavor and goodness there's no doubt you have to come here. £16 for the burger VJFB and bitterballen. Pricey but worth the splurge.

Sumo burger was on point. It was my first vegan burger anywhere so I was a little skeptical but honestly it tasted like a tender well seasoned burger. It gave me some Korean bbq smoky vibes. Sweet potato fries were a little salty but suuuuuper fresh. Bitterballen (Amsterdam, not the curry ones) were interesting. Kinda like a croquette of meat gravy with a unique spice blend, but granted this was my first time having it. Would definitely recommend though. Went right as it opened to avoid the crowd and even still there was a good amount of people there.

Amazing vegan grub. If you are vegan come here. It is the business. Truffle fries. Yasss Kween. Sumo burger. Hell yes. Get you some. Now.

Oh my gosh this place was so good. Name describes it perfectly. If you want amazing vegan junk food that will totally hit the spot, come here. The food is awesome. The spot is cute too and service was quick. Definitely an easy, reasonably priced meal. Will be back! It's a lot of food, so definitely go if you're super hungry!

The food, value, ambiance, and service all get 5 stars. This place is every vegan's dream! I wish they would expand to the US so that I dont have to wait until my next trip back to Amsterdam to get the food again! The vegan sashimi was absolutely mind blowing

This place is AWESOME! First of all they have a ton of outlets and free wifi which I needed since my phone was dying. The girl working the register was so nice and friendly! I ordered the Original VJFB (without the "cheese"--it's soy cheese FYI) and Frites Uit Zuid (triple fried fries) with the garlic mayo. The "burger" was so good! It kind of reminded me of sausage for some reason. I loved the fried onion, vegan mayo and scallions on the burger. It was nicely dressed and I love a good sesame seed bun. I'm not sure how none of this had eggs in, especially the garlic mayo which was excellent. The fries were good but I think double fried would probably suffice. It was way too much food for one person (and I was starving). I ate the burger and took most of the fries home. I wish I could have tried more of their sides and will probably dream about the burger. I love everything about this place and I really wish there was a place like this near me back in the States.

We heared a lot of good things about this place so on Sunday we finally went. We tried the two burgers, sweet potato fries and normal ones. The fries were one of the best ones we have ever had. However, the burgers were seriously not a big deal. The place is a good fit for people who are trying to leave meat out of their diet but as vegan burgers they were a letdown. Again, the fries were amazing!

The VJFB Burger was really good, I also loved the nuggets which were super yummy and (IMO) did taste and felt like chicken (And as a vegan, finding a nugget that isn't super chewy is quite a feat) Prices were ok for a bite just next to the Vondel Park, service was fast even though the staff seemed quite busy. Also bear in mind that you have to order inside (the space is a little confusing but the staff was nice and helpful.) Next time I go, I'll make sure to try their chicken burger, it looked splendid and delicious.

Can't say enough about this place. I'm not vegan and this was honestly one of the BEST burgers and fries I've ever had, so much that I want to find somewhere similar in the US to get it again. Friendly staff, delicious food, definitely recommend!

This place was great! I'm not a vegan but still really enjoyed myself and had some really nice food. I went for the burger and it was fantastic, I only wish I lived in the same country so I could come back and have it again. The only downside was the slow slow slow service, it took ages to get served, but it was a very busy night.

The name says it all! Tasty vegan food and great presentation. Cool interior with neon signs. Food was a little pricey (but that's what you get in a touristy city!) but so worth it. Sister and boyfriend who are not vegan loved it as well so that's a major win.

Great little spot to have a meal with friends. Food is delicious, but it is kinda expensive and smaller portions. Burgers are a good size forsure, but the fries were on the small side. Not a bad thing but if you're really hungry, you might want to save this place for another time. It does get quite busy at times so you might have to wait a little. So on my return visit here I couldn't have experienced worse service. I waited half an hour for a burger in a restaurant with only about 5 other people there. When I complained to the blonde waitress with the english accent I received no apology. My food arrived 15 minutes later, though not with the fries I ordered, so I had to go up again and request the remainder of my order. After that no one asked how my food was and again no apology for rubbish service and lazy staff. The blonde waitress was too busy flirting with the short waiter with the american accent to put orders through on the till. The burgers are grossly overpriced for what they are, the filling rather than the 'meat' of the burger itself is the only thing that makes this vegan burger interesting. I suspect most of the popularity is achieved through flashy branding and social media marketing. I would not recommend this to any vegan visiting Amsterdam, horrible, awkward experience.

This place was a such great experience. My bf and I wanted a little of everything, so I got the sumo burger and my bf got a chicken burger and we both shared a shawarma loaded fries. Reminder: EVERYTHING was vegan which was awesome. The food was absolutely delicious and by the end of it, we were STUFFED. The place was packed with woke so we had to sit outside which wasn't a big deal because of the lovely view of a park. Highly suggest coming for great food if you're vegan, and if you aren't, you will become a fan.

It was alright. It's definitely junk food. It was too much of a fried and processed taste for me. I recognize that it may be a sought-after taste for some, but not me. In terms of vegan-only cuisine, it's nothing special. Staff messed up my order twice, but they were busy and were able to fix it.

This was literally the BEST burger I ever had. The staff was very friendly and we got the food very fast! The place is very hipster and cozy and I am definitely going back!

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I cannot believe my burger wasn't a burger! The fries were amazing and my coworker loved the nuggets as well!

Super crowded! Had to knock off a star because I was seated at a table for 2 even though there were 3 of us so I had to awkwardly sit super close to my sister and barely had any elbow room as there were people at the tables on both sides of us. Otherwise, food was great! I got the original VJFB burger (on bottom left) and the mint tea. Food and drinks came quickly, tea was fresh, burger was great!
