For my 600th review, my partner and I wanted to go to this establishment located on Cedar Lane in Teaneck, which we hadn't been to for quite a while. Veggie Heaven, as the name implies, serves vegetarian dishes. Upon entering, the renovated interior was immediately noticed, with new carpets and blue booths. Our server started us out with a hot pot of jasmine tea. The menu selection is huge, including assorted Asian dishes (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian) as well as Caribbean and European cuisine. Their featured meats are vegetarian versions of pork, beef, chicken, and duck, as well as lots of different types of tofu dishes. For starters, we decided on their scallion pancakes. They came out hot but very thick and fluffy, not thin and crispy the way we're used to. For our entree, we opted for the Chicken and Broccoli with brown rice and Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli. The Chicken and broccoli tasted good. The broccoli was very crunchy, just as it was prepared. However, the Swedish Meatball, Mashed potatoes, and Broccoli were disappointing. They took the authenticity taste away, as it was a more Asian flavor. The service was good. Your wallet will not be depleted by dining at this restaurant, but the prices are a little higher than at most vegetarian Chinese restaurants. Overall, it was good, not great.
