I decided to get some dinner to takeaway but upon seeing the lovely atmosphere, wished I had more time to dine in! Everything looked amazing and being vegetarian, I knew I didn't have to worry about and had a big range to choose from. Ended up going with the Mama Thai Curry and a blondie which were incredible. Super delicious! The customer service was warm, welcoming, and very good. Would definitely recommend if you're vegetarian or vegan. I'm definitely coming back.

The food was so delicious, tasted the freshness of the ingredients used and the ambience of the cafe was very pleasant too. 👍🏻 The assorted dishes - veg curries, potatoes, mushrooms, curry broccoli and cauliflower - the coconut milk was sos fresh. Served warm and so good for cold weather. Mushroom cream cheese wrapped would be loved by those love mushroom soup. Rich fillings and thinly wrapped, slightly baked prior served 👍🏻 The chocolate muffin was eggless, gluten free and dairy free, it taste so good 👍🏻 The macchiato (2 shots) was just so aromatic and good 😊

Love this vegetarian/vegan cafe. Has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as takeaway. Went there with a group for morning tea. Have a great selection of patties and salads. Would like to see Turmeric Latte added to the list of beverages. Took out two patties, both of which were very tasty. Service was very efficient.

🥰 Here’s my new favorite restaurant since yesterday Each menu tasted amazing Definitely worth a visit for those who always had vegetarian dishes among options but never gave it a try

Happy to find this place ☺️We are not vegetarians and enjoyed lunch here. You can mix many types of salad. The mushroom cream filled pastry was really good. Definitely come back 🥗

Google
Went to Veggie Mama for lunch because they had good reviews and vegan options and was not disappointed at all! The staff here is very friendly and helpful and the food we tried was amazing. Lots of currys, salads and pastrys to try out. I reckon anything you order will be fantastic. We had the black pepper tofu, red curry, quinoa salad and potato and kale pastry. Will definitely be coming back here again.

Google
This was our first time visiting Veggie Mama after a good friend recommended the place. Four of us went and we were all very impressed by the range of the food and the good value for money the dishes were! We had heaps of food and had to ask for some containers to take half of it home as the food was so nice! They had a real assortment of the dishes that included the curries, salads, filos and patties all on display, so it was super easy to choose what you wanted. Two of our party were meat eaters and were unsure if they would like any of the food. However they both were blown away by the taste, and these guys would definitley come back again! Big plus on the night - really friendly staff, nice small intimate and unpretenious cafe and best of all the food is absolutely delicious! We enjoyed the chilly bean tofu, mushroom and pea curry, coconut curry, mushroom filo and the cabbage salad were all lovely. Definitely worth going to explore this great little cafe in Perth

Yelp
The food was delicious! Coconut curry(just because i saw others in the restaurant having it) and a quinoa salad! Portions are average to big (I couldn't finish all). Ambience pretty nice and cozy and great staff! Very smiling and friendly! Great place!

Yelp
I have been getting healthy take-away lunches from these guys since they were at their original location in Inglewood. When I heard they were moving closer to home in Mt Lawley, I welcomed them with open, greedy arms. They've since shaken off their old 'Tempting Thyme' name and adopted a cute, more suitable title; Veggie Mama. This cafe prides itself on you guessed it, tasty vegetarian fare. They also cater to the gluten free and vegan bodies out there. Every food item is labelled with 'gf' =gluten free, 'ef' = egg free or 'df' = dairy free. Food allergies, be gone! Oh so satisfying, is that wholesome feeling that you get after filling up on a bowl of hearty veggies or legumes. Veggie Mamas caters this feeling in the form of a rainbow of hot and raw meals. The soaked cabbage, apple and sultana salad has a lovely sweet flavour and the quinoa (pronounced keen-wa, if you care to know) and sweet potato has a surprising 'meaty' taste; a good choice if you want a salad with a bit of gusto. A small (yet substantial) take-away salad is $7.95. Also delicious are the various patties made from beans, lentils, chickpeas and quinoa, which will set you back $5.95. The Chickpea and sweet potato is scrumptious and tastes just like an Indian Dahl.

Yelp
It's actually around the corner, up Vincent Street. I chose a filo wrap and a patty with some salad on the side. I could stand and look for ages at all the delightful options available. Everything has delicious combinations resulting in a true taste sensation, even for the carnivores. There's so much variety and the comment, you won't miss meat for your meal, you don't realize you haven't had meat etc, must be heard all the time. Outside, down below or up top, plenty of places to sit, even though it's not a large cafe.

Natalie D.

Yelp
Beaufort Street in Mount lawley is a hipster's paradise with lots of funky cafés and boutique shops. Predictably, the menu at Veggie Mama boasts green smoothies and caters for any number of dietary restrictions - gluten free, dairy free, egg free, plus all the food is vego. You can choose as many salads as will fit onto your plate - eg. filo and salad ($15) or curry and salad ($16.50). The servings are genuinely huge and most people pack their leftovers into a (free) takeaway container. The darling little filo parcels are warm, flaky and savoury. My samosa pastry had a spiced lentil and potato filling, which was tasty and wholesome. My dad's Morrocan curry was not spicy at all, but it had lovely rich flavours and was packed with chunky vegies and chickpeas. The kale and walnut salad was not nearly as gross as I expected haha (and my dad actually really liked it). Lunch will cost you about $15-20 with big servings. Service was prompt and helpful, plus tap water is free. Veggie Mama is perfect for health-conscious meals so you can eat doughnuts for breakfast and indulge for the rest of the weekend...

Claudia Z.

Yelp
Yes... Lovely little vegan/veggie lunch bar. The salads are fresh, the filo pastries are delicious and the service is generally pretty good. They have a selection of vegan options as well and vegetarian. I always go for the mushroom and cream cheese filo with a choice of two side salads. Yesterday I had the coconut cabbage which was super yum along with the chickpea pumpkin. Very yummy indeed. My friend got a the Mexican filo, the vegan chocolate muffin and an almond milk flat white. The coffee was very bitter, and the muffin a bit dry but the savories went down a treat. Have to say, it is a little on the pricey side. and the decor of the place is nothing special... But whatevs. I'll go back for the mushroom filo parcel alone.

Sheenal S.

Yelp
My friend and I went to this hidden gem for lunch. The place is small and cute where you go up to the counter and order hot food or pies or patties or salads or a combo of anything with salads. You can even get takeaway where the small box costs 11.95. I got the hot meals combo with salad for 16.95. The great thing is that you can get as many hot meals or salads in the combo. I got the stir fry noodles, mushroom gnocchi and red tofu curry for my hot meals selection. For salads I got the brown rice, the purple cabbage salad and the pumpkin quinoa salad. Got a skinny latte for 4 bucks. You get the hot meals all mixed up in a bowl liked on top of each other and the salads are all mixed up which is annoying but everything was so delicious and the coffee was great too. The place also sells raw desserts. Definitely going back. So much to choose from and all vegetarian.

Yelp
Originally in Inglewood, the move to Mt Lawley/Highgate was top notch- especially as the organic/vegetarian/raw food/fitness fanatics wave started being the only thing people talk about these days. Veggie Mama was ahead of the trend, before Kale became a massive thing. I have taken carnivores here and I'm proud to admit - converted them to vegetarian food. Not an easy task, but Veggie Mama makes it easy with its massive portions, even for an elite athlete (or a Mt Lawley gym goer) full of vegetables! Don't be fooled by the plate of 3 salads as a light meal because you better have deep pockets to store the extra. They also cater for gluten free and vegan lovers. The location is a bit odd and only limited street parking around, but that doesn't really bother me. Only other negative that is a bit harder to swallow is - healthy ain't cheap, but then again, there meals could last me all day! So get in my belly healthy vegetarian/vegan and gluten free food!

Jenny B.

Yelp
As I stated in my previous review, I struggled between three and four stars. I have indeed settled the score; however, now I'm on the fence if it is a four or five stars! I suppose another visit is in order. I have to say that I probably consumed the best falafel of my life at Veggie Mamas. My complaint? The five lil' nugs weren't enough to satisfy my desire. My hunger was certainly satisfied as the falafel was on a bed of crispy pita chips with parsley, cucumber and tomato accompanied by a crushed tomato puree and hummus which again was amazing! Near the end, I was so full but kept gorging on... c'mon, it's clean eats! My friend had the pumpkin gnocchi... and, shut the front door... it.was.so.delicious.that.I.contemplated.eating.another.bite.when.she.went.to.the.restroom. YES... that good that I could have sacrificed human decency and friendship. Okay, I'm a horrible friend or maybe have too much love for pumpkin-flavored-anything. I may be tricking my serious carnivore man to the lighter-side of eating. We'll see! I must be acclimatizing to Perth and the costs as both my friend and I ate for $29 total and I didn't bat an eyelash. In fact, I'd say that's pretty darn cheap for here! It helped that we both drank tap water. I still suggest eating inside. I didn't take my advice from last time and cars still continue to race and rev. Exceptionally loud and bothersome to my falafel consumption!

Katie H.

Yelp
Love this place. Tons of healthy options and most look quite delicious, I can't wait to try everything! A few different daily burger patty options (I had the sweet potato/chickpea which was great), lots of side salad options (I had the sweet potato/quinoa) and lots of filos. Burger was served on a perfectly toasted sesame seed bun with salad and a nice tomato chutney. Can't wait to go back and try more!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I am not a vegetarian, I absolutely LOVE my meat and always thought I would never like this place. One of my friends whom is a health freak brought me here last week and I must say, I was very impressed! I got the spinach, potato and pine-nut pattie and a some sort of risoto-ish rice. It was delicious! The price is a little bit more expensive then other places, at $16.95 (apparently the price increases by a $1.00 for Dinner) but you are getting 'healthy' food. The serving sizes are good and the food is very filling, I probably could of saved some for lunch the next day but I was being a little piggy. Can't wait to return to try some other dishes!

Kelly N.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place looking for a lunch spot with healthy and fresh foods, and what a find! With a full range of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free foods, this spot is a must for those with high maintenance eating habits. While I do enjoy a meat meal, I was fully satisfied with the selection of "burger" patties and wide array of side salads. Furthermore, the handful of hot dishes also looked good. They also offer all kinds of smoothies. What I also really like about this place is it's a great spot for mamas to get together - the kid friendly toys help entertain little ones while mamas enjoy some healthy food sitting either inside or out.

Ted S.

Yelp
Everything , everything, everything was insanely good. From the hot meals, to the cold salads , to The desserts. Everything was full of flavor. Favorites were the Mexican bean burrito, the cheesecake, and the sweet chili rice.

Shennae D.

Yelp
Across the road from Hungry Jack's, this place offers vegetarian and vegan food with options for everyone. Gluten free, egg free, dairy free, raw vegan, paleo, soy free, there is something everyone can enjoy regardless of dietary needs. Staff are so friendly and helpful and welcoming. I love the raw chocolate scroll and the dairy and egg free date scones. You get good value for your money with the delicious food and drinks so it's worth the price you pay for your meal.

Darby D.

Yelp
If you're looking for an all vegetarian place to eat, this is the spot for you! I went here recently and had a vegetarian burger that was phenomenal! Atmosphere is great too and the flavors are great.

Dianne H.

Yelp
First time I've eaten here and I'm in love with the fact there are soo many gluten free, dairy free options Food is clean healthy and nutritious I had the sweet potato and chickpea patty with the Beetroot and carrot salad tastes awesome. My food cost around 15 dollars which sound hefty but my box was jam packed so didn't mind the cost to much. If you have vegan friends take them here as it won't disappoint

Tracey S.

Yelp
I've driven past Veggie Mama so many times and never had a chance to actually to go in... When you're vegetarian you jump at the chance to explore a new vego place :) Finally a friend suggested we go there for dinner and finally last night I had the chance to enjoy the Mama cafe! They were originally only open for breakfast and lunch but now on Wed, Thurs and Fri they are also open for dinner. There is ALOT to choose from - hot dishes like curries, chickpea dishes and FILO pastries. The four of us couldn't go past the burgers! So many vego burger choices! I had the polenta and butternut burger with mango salsa and salad plus a lemon lime bitters. It was Delicious, the burger patty had interesting textures - soft but crunchy! The burger was so massive, I had to cut it in half just to take a bite :) My friends also had burgers - mushroom burger, bean & rice burger and a lentil and rice burger... Each served with a range of salads. There wasn't a single wasted vege on our plate! The burger was $10 on its own or $14 w a side of salad (which was a meal on its own)! The decor is very standard cafe style but with lots of great art board w special sayings. It's a little small - so if you're planning on going with a group I would suggest booking a table first. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
If I could live here I would.....always delicious and a vegetarians heaven!!! Try leaving without having 1 of everything!!! And you will always have food envy even though what is served infront of you will tantalize your taste buds!!! The mushroom curry tofu dish is my fave...oh wait no the kale salad with flecks of coconut through it is...no no no its the mushroom fetta filo..dammit its all delicous!!!

Vanessa B.

Yelp
Mushroom and cream cheese filo roll. That is all you will ever need for the rest of your life. Divine. Who knew being vegetarian could be so much fun?! If cream isn't your thing, their other hot foods change daily and pair perfectly with their cold amazing salads - such as a sweet potato and quinoa salad or a pomegranate and celery lettuce salad.

Vikas T.

Yelp
Really liked the food here. Usually there are not a lot of options for the vegetarians in Perth restaurants but the burgers here were just awesome. They were so good that my meat eating friend (who can not imagine having a burger without ham) loved them too. A great find for sure and I'll definitely be coming back more frequently.

Amy V.

Yelp
okay this place is seriously seriously good. Even for those who aren't vegan/vegetarian, you MUST come and try the food here. The amazing salads, freshly squeezed juices are excellent. The highlight for me are the various patties you can pick. The portion sizes are quite big though so it's also a plus you can takeaway what you can finish. Nothing like making sure no waste here!! You can either have the pattie with the salad by itself or in a burger. Either way, you can't go wrong.

K H.

Yelp
Their salads are great! Although I wish their pasta is vegan (it currently has dairy) It's a great venue for a dinner for two, catching up with friends, and when you feel that you've been naughty with your diet all day and you want that healthier kick.

Victoria E.

Yelp
Best Veggie/ Vegan restaurant ever! Loved the food. Spoilt with options, and massive potion sizes. Such a friendly and relaxed vibe. Favourite spot to go it I'm craving some wholesome veggie love!

Jack G.

Yelp
Vege Mama is a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant. The food quality is good, and reasonably priced. There are a lot of options and you will not hungry. There are hot and cold options for meals as well. They allow you select different variations to make up your plate so it is quite good. Had the Mexican Bean filo, it was very tasty. They do a lot of good desserts as well. Recommend it to go there especially if one of your friends is a vegan.

Alexandra H.

Yelp
I live just up the road from veggie mama and really wish i loved it. They have some yummy smoothies, salads and patties yet I feel the food is too focused on being vegan/glutenfree/superhealthy and it is lacking in flavour. The menu doesn't really change very often and i have seen the same salads in the windows for too long. Vego food doesnt have to be boring. The staff however are really friendly and it is a nice enough place to enjoy a guilt free lunch.

Steph H.

Yelp
You will feel healthier just standing at the counter looking at the food at Veggie Mama. All the ingredients look so fresh & colourful & taste even more vibrant. It's simple, no nonsense, filling fare which is dished up with generosity & flare. I'm not usually a big salad fan but these have such a variety of colours, textures & yummy tastes that it doesn't feel like health food at all. Highly recommend to vegetarians & vegans as you'll be spoilt for choice.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Yum yum yum, the gluten free raw brownies are Amazing! It's like a melting explosion of goey yummy chocolateness. I've given into temptation twice already! The food is a bit lack lustre. Needs some menu revamp for main meals. The burgers are great. Especially being able to choose your ingredients. I wish they provided some nutrient and calorie information so I could make an informed decision on which one to choose. Not many gluten free salads that I felt inspired by. Maybe more colour in the salads would help.

Phill D.

Yelp
Great vege cafe in a popular part of Perth. The food was fresh and the coffee alright. Lots of options including salads, patties and savoury pastries. Free wifi but not all credit cards accepted at the time of our visit.

Leigh Z.

Yelp
I am very much a carnivore, much to my Vegan friends distaste. Sometimes, I must admit, I will turn up my nose at the idea of a meatless meal. Though when Veggie Mama opened up near by, the inner foodie in me couldn't resist the challenge. So I dared to be different and went to try some meatless delicacies. I scoured the menu for something that appealed to my tastes. Heaping piles of broccoli and zuchini stared me in the face, almost challenging me to try. My aversion for most things green led me to the bain marie, from which I selected the most delicious sounding item on offer; Mushroom and Cream Cheese filo parcel. Yes, I thought. This is the perfect alternative, I've found the most unhealthy way to eat vegetarian! So I ambled home with my filo pasty in hand, freshly squeezed apple juice in the other (a little pricey, but fresh juice is just the BEST) and sat down to eat my pastry. Two, maybe three bites into this thing, my stomach began to fight me. It was the richest, thickest, creamiest parcel filling you could possibly imagine, and while it was delicious, my body was just not ready for that level of intensity. Even smothering it in tomato sauce wasn't enough to dull the ache the creamy weapon was causing inside my belly. So tasty, but SO much. ...and I'd do it again. Real nice venue too, good location and friendly staff.

Happy P.

Yelp
This place is just delightful as a long standing vegetarian, I couldn't be happier when I stumble across places such as this one. I have had some of the most amazing high quality food from this cafe. They sell some traditional vegetarian meals, and then they sell some really unusual stuff too. I always try something different, and I like the sound of some of the exotic meals they have to offer. It really is something special and for a Perth restaurant the prices aren't bad either.

Juliana K.

Yelp
Delicious vego fare! I had the polenta and butternut patty and it was so creamy and bursting with flavour! Partnered with a side salad it was the perfect lunch. Just coz you're going vegan doesn't mean you have to go without great tasting food. I was a little taken aback when the meal plus a drink was over $20, but like my dining companion said "you pay more for healthy food".

Hayley N.

Yelp
Really yummy fresh healthy food! I had a potato and spinach patty with 3 salads- the salads were great and the patty very tasty! Was a bit sad when the broccoli salad came out after I had started eating though! The service did leave a little to be desired- as a new customer a friendly and forthcoming explanation on how the salad and main combination works would have been nice especially given they weren't very busy. Otherwise though service was pleasant enough. Will definitely go back when in in the area!

Kelly I.

Yelp
I have been here before and found it OK, but thats because i usually opt for a double qtr pounder over a salad. However, The mushroom and cream cheese filo is delicious! I went sometime last year with my sister and got one, the service was great and the salads all looked amazing! My winge comes in now. I decided to pass on the big oily hangover cure so me and my partner went there on Sunday. All excited for a healthy change we ordered a filo each (mushroom & cream cheese for me, mexican for him) and pretty much all of the salads between us. We got our number n sat down, within a minute the food was on our table. Maybe 30 seconds went by and the waitress came up to us and said "thats not actually your order, is that ok?" Completly putting us on the spot we said yes since we had started eating already. My filo was a pumpkin one and we both got only 2 salads one of which consisted of only carrot, beetroot and bean sprouts.. mmmmm. Pissed off we left hungry and didnt finnish our meals. The waitress never apologised and left us with someone elses crap selection. Combined our meals came to $22. McDs pitstop was needed. One plus is that we didnt get kicked out for having no shoes on.. Dont ask why.

Yelp
Were not vegetarians but we love veggie food so we hopped in the car and headed over to Veggie Mamma for lunch last Saturday. Situated in the heart of Beaufort Street, on a sunny day the restaurant looked really inviting and we managed to get a seat outside so we could watch the world go by which was nice. There is a car park conveniently located opposite the restaurant on the other side of Beaufort Street. The staff were all friendly and professional and the display of foods was a delight to see! So many bright colours and it all looked so fresh. It was really difficult to choose what to have! We decided on the Mexican Bean Filo and a Chickpea and Sweet Potato (which were heated up), both with Salad. You can choose up to three different salads to go with your dish. We didn't wait long for our food to be served and both our meals were delicious, really flavoursome and extremely filling. It really was a treat to dine here as the food is of such a good quality and obviously made with love and care. Two coconut water drinks and two meals came to $37.90 which was really reasonable. We didn't have enough room for any of the impressive cakes on display, maybe next time. We will be back regularly no doubt, we have found another favourite here in Perth.

Poppy B.

Yelp
This is my go-to healthy restaurant in Perth. It never disappoints. Huge portions of fresh salads (several to choose from) and tons of hot food and veggie patties which can be eaten alone or as a burger. The vegan chocolate muffin is to die for. The only bad thing I've had was a watermelon juice. It wasn't at all sweet then I realized it's probably out of season, but then it shouldn't be on offer if it doesn't taste good. But I think you can't go wrong with any of the food. Staff is very friendly to boot.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Veggie Mama definitely makes veggies fun! I'm a sucker for their spinach and ricotta filo! Coconut curry is very tasty, and am always keen on their green smoothie. Nice work ladies!

Wandering B.

Yelp
Ironically enough , this place is located directly opposite a Hungry Jack's =) Got a Large Salad (Little bit of everything) and the Veggie Slice. I'm used to US prices so $18 seemed just a little more than I'd like to've paid (Cost of living appears to be higher in Australia). The Salad (Or Salads rather) was very good. Other than you traditional leafy salads , there was a Quinoa-based one as well as one with beetroot. Had a Veggie Slice as well , unfortunately , the slice was not in the same league as the salads - seemed to've been cooked in a strange oil, or perhaps it was just the mix of all the vegetables, it had a smell / taste that I did not care for. Will go back and try the offerings though.

M M.

Yelp
Veggie mama, where have you been all my life? This has got to be my new favorite cafe. I live in Fremantle, Which is quite a trek away from Mama's tempting grub, but the taste bud sensation you'll get will make the journey more than worth it, wherever you may be traveling from. Mama, true to its matronly moniker, is all for taking care of the vegan/gluten free kids with delicious range of cruelty free products. Food is marked according to whether it is egg, dairy or gluten free, which this notoriously fussy eater really appreciated. What you do is order at the counter, take a seat and wait for your food. I recommend the chickpea and sweet potato patty with all the salads for a reasonable $12.95. The patty is served warm, is mildly sweet and spicy with loads of nutmeg. I did feel it could would have exceeded scrumptiousness with a bit of chutney, as it is was a bit dry for my liking. The salads are a fresh and perfect accompaniment. If I had to choose (which I didn't, I got all, being the greedy gutso that I am!), I'd opt for the baked veggies and the apple cabbage salad. The veggies were roasted and seasoned to perfection; not too soft and still very flavoursome. Decor is nothing to write home about, but the staff are helpful, and checked up on me during my face-planting.

Miranda P.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian, or a vegan, nor do I care whether things are gluten, dairy or egg-free, but if I did, Veggie Mama would be a great option as it caters to all these requirements in delicious style. No, I was tempted inside this café because it looked nice and I could see a rather scrumptious-looking salad bar from outside. I love a good salad, and they can be hard to come by. So many places seem to love smothering things in mayonnaise or other white creamy substances and calling them salads, and if there's one thing I hate, it's things covered in white creamy substances. So I was overjoyed to find Veggie Mama, where you can get a takeaway salad box filled with your choice of several different delicious, fresh salads, and not a hint of white stuff in sight. My favourite ones are the quinoa, chickpea and sweet potato salad, the roasted veg and the tomatoey-cucumbery-herby one. Yummy yummy yummy, and you can get a small salad, which is actually quite big and definitely enough to satisfy, for $7.95. Amazing!
