One of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants I tried in Melbourne. The service was really fast. Their sweet and sour chicken + double since crispy duck are the must try if you've never been here before. You can also buy the mock meat from their display freezers if you want to cook them at home. Overall, it was a very good experience. Will definitely come back again next time.

Best vegetarian restaurant in Melbourne! Delicious food. Great service. Well priced. My favourite is the 'chicken in a nest'. My partner and I eat here regularly and love bringing friends and family; who also love it. Vegie Kitchen also sells delicious vegie products. Highly recommended!

It’s impressive how they made a meat-like flavors out of simple vegetarian ingredients. Especially the roasted duck dish - even better than the actual duck we tried in other places (less oily and more flavorful). The lady owner was lovely as well, double checked if I could handle the spice; and asked how we liked the food.

It’s ALL vegetarian. All of it. Even the chicken, duck, fish etc. On the menu - all made with mock meat. It was delish. Priced really reasonably too. Service was not the best, I felt like the old lady told us off for not ordering fast enough 😂, but I’m not going to complain when the food is good and cheap.

Google
Delicious vegetarian food with prompt and friendly service. An extensive menu of vegetarian versions of chinese dishes and Malaysian/Singaporean hawker fare. On our 2 visits we tried the Kung Pau Chicken, Cereal Prawns, Fried Kuey Teow and Cantonese Fried Egg noodles. Definitely going back for more.

Enjoyed the vegetables they had instead of having only mock meat like some vegetarian restaurants. Place is comfy, fast and friendly service, large portions and reasonably priced. Couldn’t ask for more! Definitely will come back again 😍

This place is in south Melbourne. It is pure vegetarian and vegan place. We reached at 2.15pm and they close at 2.30pm. The owner was very nice to let us order even though they were about to close. The food taste and quality was very good. All the food is without onion and garlic. So Jains can find good options here. However I did not like that many menu item names were misleading. The names were non veg with mock meat made up of tofu. Overall the food was tasty and I would definitely visit again when in Melbourne.

Yelp
I came here with some friends on night. One of them has been here before and she really liked it, so I was excited to try out this mock meat restaurant. For 8 people, we ordered 6 banquets and one additional main dish and wow, there was a lot of food! Some of the "meat" dishes was more convincing than others. (I really liked the duck. The beef was a good attempt.) But more importantly, the sauces and spices were balanced very well with the mock meat, so each dish was great. None of them made you feel "here is a failed attempt at mock meat that tastes terrible" because even the not-as-convincing dishes tasted great. The menu can be quite entertaining, because most of the plate names don't have the word "mock" in them. So as I read something like "sizzling beef," I thought "I'm vegetarian, so I can't order this," and then I realized "oh, this is actually sizzling mock beef!" I wonder if it would be possible to bring a friend into the restaurant and trick him/her into thinking it was all real meat!

Yelp
This place is amazing. I cannot believe there's not one real piece of chicken in my dinner each time I go there. I swear that they are lying to us and saying its tofu and completely vegetarian because it's so damn good. I've eaten here a number of times and have had the special fried rice, the spicy curry chicken and the kung pao chicken. They all are fantastic! However my favorite is the kung pao chicken. It's delicious and most likely will be in your top 5 favorite chicken dishes ever... And it's not even chicken! The staff are perfect and are ready to help every second. They are very attentive and polite. I love going here and eating, even though it's mandatory for me to have meat and potatoes at every meal due to being American. This place is truly 5 stars. Check it out!

Yelp
Every so often you come across a restaurant that will keep on dragging you back, it's cheap, it's easy, the food is fantastic... Enlightened Cuisine is one of those restaurants. Sort of. Though maybe not for the right reasons. As a vegetarian living in Southbank I have eaten here a number of times and have always found the food to be rather hit and miss. Sometimes everything will be fantastic and other times you will leave the restaurant with the sneaking suspicion that you've just wasted your money. While not overly expensive, Enlightened still isn't exactly cheap for the quality of the food that you're getting - you're going to struggle to find a main on the menu for under $20 and some meals really feel like they should be priced in the 12-15 dollar range. Don't get me wrong - I have eaten here may times and enjoyed myself - the beef with black bean sauce is excellent and the chicken with satay is definitely a worth a try, but the good meals can be let down by others which don't quite match up. The vegetable and oyster sauce for instance comes accross as rather bland and oily and there are a number of dishes where the msg tickles at the back of your throat just a little too much. My advice is to turn up with a few people and order a number of different dishes and share them so that you can find out what you do like and what you don't - the menu is rather expansive so it may take you a number of visits to find something that you really like - once you do however you will probably end up coming back. After all there aren't that many mock meat places in the area to choose from, decent or other wise.

Yelp
I just went to this place and ordered a mixed vegetable curry. I must say the place is really comfortable and the people are really nice and attentive. However, the food that I ordered is not very good, the curry is too spicy and they put way too much table salt in it. The dish doesn't seem like it's well prepared. But then again it's really cheap, so I don't expect anything better. It's just surprising that it got 4 stars which I don't agree at all. I still will come back for cheap take away food because it's fast and easy.

Yelp
Mock meat is weird, yes but generally this place is pretty tasty and cheap. I would vouch for the veggie dishes such as the eggplant and tofu stir fry with rice rather than the bizzarro fake duck/chicken/prawn if you're a meat eater and know what real meat tastes likes. Vegos may enjoy the novelty.
