These Are the Best Cities in Brazil for Live Music

"Sitting at Bar Veloso in Rio de Janeiro one afternoon in 1962, lyricist Vinícius de Moraes and composer Antônio Carlos “Tom” Jobim recognized a woman walking by; they were so taken with her beauty that they decided to express their admiration in a poem." - Carolina Abbott Galvão

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and it was packed. We ordered the jar of limonada, casquinha de siri, and picanha veloso. The limonada and pão de alho which came with the picanha came first, both were delicioso. Next was the casquinha with melted cheese on top, that was a first and I didn’t prefere it but the flavors were good. Lastly the picanha came out popping hot still sizzling with brócoli rice and fries. The fries were cooked well, needed salt. The rice was good also needed salt. & the picanha was delicious tender and could definitely feed 4 no problem. The total was about $R330 or 60 USD super worth it for a good filling lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Would I come again? No. Nothing stands out and there are many other corner spots just like it but we didn’t regret spending money here.

Dropped into the bar to watch football, staff were brilliant and found us a table with TV and allowed us to use apple play. Great choice of beers and a range of snacks/light bites.

Went here thinking it was where the girl from Ipanema was written (it isn't). we left well-fed and happy, though! Excellent service, and the food was the best we had our entire time in Rio. Was very happy we went here.

This place is a great option for the area. Service is good, kind of slow for food, but worth the wait. Food is good, lemon was old.

Google
Excellent Great place to meet friends for a couple of chopes or even have dinner. They serve very good bolinho de bacalhao. For dinner, the picanha Veloso is really good to share with friends. Recommended!

I love this place. Attentive service, well prepared Brazilian food, great ambiance on a not-so-busy corner a block from the beach, and great prices. Ótimo, en fim!

Yelp
Perfect place for a nice brazilian lunch. Good burgers, great Camarao, nice people. Can be busy at night when bigger groups are coming in, but is always a recomendation. I went there three times and still like the atmosphere- typical brazilian and not too upmarket "Leblon style".

Yelp
Great place to meet locals. We met some English travelers and enjoyed our food chatting with them. It is located in a good area, next to a bus station that can take you back to your destination if needing a cheaper way to get back. The food is good, they have dinner specials, specially BBQ style specials, burgers and other stuff. Free WIFI and friendly staff.

Yelp
We went here 5 times during our vacation to Rio. They have the coldest beer in town and the food was delicious. ZeMaria was the best server we have ever had. He welcomed us with a smile every time. He taught me some Portuguese and I taught him some English. He was attentive and genuinely excited to see us every time we came in. He put in the effort to make sure we knew exactly what we were ordering and gave us great recommendations on what to order. If you are looking for the best local spot in Leblon, look no further.

Yelp
A great place to grab a bite and relax in Leblon. The service here is attentive and accurate which I cannot say about the rest of RJ in general. We came to watch a World Cup game so it was quite busy however our waiter was constantly hovering and checking in on us. Huge food portions! Great healthy options such as the meat skewers or grilled chicken salad. Very prompt with bringing drinks out and great atmosphere with a mix of outdoor and indoor seating not far from the beach itself. I would definitely stop by here again and will recommend this 100% to any friend traveling. In RJ the service is so atrociously bad normally that good service like this stands out like a gem!

Yelp
I came here with friends in July 2014 a couple days after the final FIFA world cup match. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly quiet. It took a while after we were seated to get our food and drink orders. The food was cooked well, but tasted OK- i wasn't a huge fan it. I had the filet mignon and split it with my boyfriend. The portion size was fairly big, but also very expensive. It took us about 15-20 minutes after the food was served to get a second set of utensils...I was really surprised considering we were maybe 1 of 3 tables of people at the restaurant (other tables were groups of 2). By the time we left, the restaurant started to get really busy.
