"Tranquil it isn’t. Right on Canal Street, the spine of Manchester’s Gay Village — now a very inclusive, very mixed nightlife district — is the Velvet Bar and Restaurant, a longtime fixture on Manchester’s party scene. The latest addition to the Velvet family is the Velvet Hotel, occupying the floors above the restaurant and bar; if it’s not exactly the perfect recipe for sleeping the sleep of the just, it is absolutely ideal as a place to retire at the end (or, really, in the middle) of the night’s activities." - Tablet Hotels

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Velvet Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the service was excellent—warm, professional, and attentive to every detail. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect throughout my stay.||The food was another highlight, with delicious options that were both fresh and beautifully presented. Each meal felt like a treat, and I looked forward to dining there every day.||The rooms were stunning—modern, stylish, and spotless. Everything felt so clean and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made the space feel welcoming and comfortable.||Overall, Velvet Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Excellent service, great food, and beautiful, clean rooms made it a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended!

We were very excited about this stay as in the pictures and on the website the hotel looked amazing, however the reality was quite different. When we got there the elevator wasn’t working, our king size room was tiny, there was no desk, no counter in the bathroom, the hot water wasn’t working in the shower, there were no glasses to use to be able to get water from the bathroom with. For £160 for 1 night we were really quite disappointed. The bed however was very large and very comfortable and the blinds were a great blackout quality. We did mention the issues to the staff on check out but she just said thankyou for the feedback nothing else. Probably wouldn’t stay here again, location was great though!

The hotel is in a good location, just a few minutes walk from Piccadilly. Check in was pleasant, staff were welcoming. The rooms were clean enough and had a bit of character. The bathroom was spacious and clean, I particularly liked the shower. We were advised at check in that we had a continental breakfast which would be delivered to our room at a time that suits. Unfortunately This wasn’t delivered on the Sunday morning but did arrive on Monday morning. It was nice to have this delivered to enjoy in the room.

From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was engulfed in the warmth and professionalism of Josh, which made the start of my stay so amazing. Josh always ever willing to help and provide advice on wher to visit in the local area. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Manchester (Canal Street), this hotel is a true sanctuary of comfort and class.||The staff were nothing short of phenomenal—attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. Rabab at the front desk always friendly, knd and caring to Michelle XO the manager who went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable to even moving rooms without a hassle. Special shoutout to the housekeeping team whose attention to detail kept my room immaculate and inviting each day. Thank you for your amazing hospitality. You made our stay in Manchester even more spectatcular.

We booked this hotel using a voucher we got last Christmas, really pleased we chose this place. Central location so great for Canal Street, but the room was excellent - very well decorated, had all we needed and a good size. Very large and very comfortable bed. Will be where I choose to book next time I visit Manchester.

It's a wonderful hotel with nice, modern and clean rooms as well as professional , extremely friendly and very helpful staff. Great experience at check in and throughout the stay at this hotel. **However - there is a big noise issue.** Problem is that the Velvet is right above/beside a very loud bar/disco? Something that makes the walls shake and is soooo loud. If you want to sleep I cannot recommend this otherwise lovely hotel.

Second time staying in this hotel. More than the gorgeous interiors and the spacious rooms, it's the service that stands out. Martin, who was on shift on the day we had an issue with the AC came to the rescue and offered us better alternatives. That's A plus customer service and this cqme naturally to him. Kudos!

My husband and I stayed at the Velvet hotel for two nights. (2nd and 3rd of September 2025). It was a Virginia experience gift, from our daughter.|On arrival at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by Martin, a really lovely young man who offered us a glass of prosseco.|We told him we had a food voucher with our booking and he explained regretfully, that the restaurant was closed at the moment due to a problem with the electrics but would speak to his manager about the voucher. He then upgraded us to a room with a balcony.|We had a lovely chat with him. He explained how everything worked and asked what time we wanted breakfast, obviously continental because of the restaurant issue. Breakfast was served to out room at the agreed time.|He then told us there was a hundred pound charge for the mini bar in our room that we had to pay upfront. You get this back after your stay when they have checked if you used anything, which we didn't.|We stayed in room 34. It was a lovely room. It had a free standing bath plus a shower cubicle, a massive TV, king size bed|We stayed in room 34 and it was a great room with a stand free bath and seperate shower cubicle.
