Came here for the flat white and was not disappointed. Friendly staff, super knowledgeable and they know coffee. They also have a wide selection of pastries

The latte is exceptional. Perfect amount of froth/ milk. I like the taste. Smooth, but not overpowering. Very clean inside. Lots of space for solo people tp work on their laptops. Courtyard area out back is a double bonus! Will visit again.

It's a lovely coffee shop in the Park Slope neighborhood. The owner truly cares about the shop and ensures the environment is welcoming and friendly. There are plenty of seats and a beautiful outdoor space. In addition to coffee, they offer a handful of options for pastries and sweets. If you want to take a break or work on your laptop, definitely check it out.

The coffee shop is great but it’s is ruined by people with laptops sitting there for hours. Silent, screen-focused atmosphere is underwhelming. Literally every table was take.

Tried so many cafes in this area as I wait for my kids two afternoons a week. The treats are the best I’ve found around here, the tea menu is simple but high quality, the music is always nice and it is so lovely and unpretentious.

I recently visited Velvette Black and I had a wonderful experience! I ordered an ice latte and a brownie, and they were both absolutely delicious. What really stood out to me, however, was the atmosphere of the coffee shop. The space was cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and plenty of natural light. The decor was stylish and modern. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive vibe of the place. Overall, I would highly recommend Velvette Black to anyone looking for a top-notch coffee experience in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I will definitely be returning soon!

I like this place sooo much! Spacy and chilled with good coffee and treats. Hidden gem in the area! ☕️🥛✨Cappuccino was really outstanding. The taste of coffee was gentle and smooth. And the foamed milk was creamy with micro bobbles. The chocolate caramel crunch was flourless. It was rich for sweet-tooth person. It crumbled, not too moist but not dry as well.

I've been here a bunch of times on my morning walk up to Prospect Park after stopping in for a cappuccino. However, the last time I went in there the service was horrific ! After repeating my order 3 times I suggested the barista have a cup of coffee too. Then I was rudely told by his protector, or manager...?, to leave and not to return.....! I mean if you're going to make me work for my order and charge me...... I'd rather go somewhere else anyway!! Not to mention the fragile egos of the staff makes it a joke! There are two other amazing coffee shops within a block of this one. I suggest you search a little deeper and choose any one of the truly friendly neighborhood coffee shops in the area. There's nothing in particular that makes this one any better than the many other coffee shops in Park Slope. This is definitely not a #trulybrooklyn spot. Thumbs down

I'm surprised at the negative reviews here because I really like this spot! Their cold brew is great, so much better than alternatives in the area like Hungry Ghost. Yes, it's a working cafe but what's wrong with that? It's nice to be able to work in cafes in the area and I like that it's open till 7 pm.

Great coffee, friendly workers, and nice and air conditioned with plenty of seating. They also mentioned they have seating in the backyard but it was too hot to check it out.

Came here for a drip coffee with creamer, added sugar at the stand on the side. Was fairly priced compared to other places around the area, good-flavored coffee. Quick and clean, looked like a good spot to work (saw some people working there).

Looks nice but there is never a place to sit because you get single occupants with laptops taking all the seats and they stay forever. Might I suggest you make this a NO LAPTOP cafe? And one guy even had his feet up on the facing chair - see photo I just uploaded. Maybe fine if you're just doing takeout but then save the money and make your coffee at home. Full disclosure - I am a former cafe owner in London and we won all the awards of best ambiance, design, etc. WE DID NOT ALLOW LAPTOPS - no WIFI etc.

I had been wanting to come here for a while to try the signature drink the Velvette - got it with oat milk and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and they have a small enclosed patio out back.

I truly love this coffee shop. Corner coffee shops in Park Slope are truly a dime a dozen and when an addict is an addict, 50-cent bodega jet fuel will do but Velvette coffee truly lives up to its name. The coffee is dark, rich and smooth. I hate acidic coffee. The signature velvet latte is exceptional. A decadent treat. They have a lovely selection of Italian based sandwiches and sweets to keep the delicious brew company and the ambience inside is quiet; a pleasant place to sip and daydream. The baristas are always very kind and smiling. Definitely my favorite coffee brewers in Brooklyn!

Wow I'm surprised that anyone in the specialty coffee business can serve a drink this bad. Nice space and people, for that they get two stars. My cortado was watery and burnt.I really wanted to taste their coffee and see if I wanted to buy beans but I didn't get to taste them. I got ash.

Great coffee shop in Brooklyn. Very inviting inside and lots of coffee and pastries to choose from. I got a ginger latte, an egg sandwich, and a brownie and they all tasted great. Pretty reasonable prices and very friendly staff. As a bonus they have a nice wooden deck on the back!

Just no. Would not recommend. I got espresso shots with a dash of milk instead of my iced macchiato. Also snagged a photo of the menu because it's only until you get to the cashier can you see it.

LOVED this place. Got the Velvette latte with almond milk and a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. It was really sunny the day we went so we sat on their back patio, which is an adorable enclosed space. Pretty limited seating inside. They have complimentary wifi. Service was great and friendly. Would definitely return here

Worst coffee I've had in a while and definitely not worth the money. Cute place, but unfortunately not the best quality

Fantastic local coffee shop. It's a bit smaller and darker than other shops in the area, given that it's on the ground floor. But there's ample amount of 2-person tables with a larger family style table in the back. Overall clean, neat, and a good place to work from. They're still working on the backyard as of this writing. Espresso drinks are very good, iced latte is my go to and tastes balanced and delicious. The baked goods are all fantastic looking. I've only tried the cookie so far but it was excellent, soft and chewy with a bit of a crispy edge. The owner and staff are absolutely wonderful. Kind and welcoming, you can tell they care about what they do and who they serve. Support your local shops!
