Loved this tiny hotel. It’s 600 years old and used to be a monastery, so it’s very tastefully decorated in an Old World style. It’s on a charming narrow alley with greenery hanging overhead. They offer a welcome drink. We had no intention of having dinner here but we looked at the menu while having the welcomed drink and the menu was amazing. We had the lamb and cheese in pastry and the vine leaves stuffed with lamb. And they even gave us 10% off since we were staying there. But back to the room. It was huge. It had a hair dryer and plenty of places to put your luggage. The view from room 109 was of the fortress and a charming courtyard restaurant below with a gurgling fountain. Since it’s a restaurant below there is noise but it was minimal and the fountain overrode the restaurant noise. We were exhausted and went to sleep at 9 with the window open and the noise wasn’t a problem. The fountain was turned off at some point and it was very quiet. The fountain was turned back on at 7 a.m. I really loved the white noise from the fountain. The bed was king sized, medium firmness. There is a safe but it’s too small for computers. The receptionist was very friendly as was the waiter. We highly recommend this hotel. We were only staying one night so we parked at the Fortessa Parking Lot 20 euros for 24 hours. There are cheaper parking lots a bit farther away. Ask and they’ll send you a list of parking lots.

The Veneto Hotel is wonderfully located for exploring Rethymno. It’s in the old town section of the city. It’s an old mansion renovated into a hotel. Our room had a lovely patio attached, as well as a balcony. Both the patio and the balcony overlook the restaurant courtyard. The furnishings are somewhat dated, but the bed and pillows are comfortable and the shower has plenty of pressure and hot water. The room and the bathroom are large by European standards. ||Because the room overlooks the restaurant courtyard, bring white noise or ear plugs. ||The staff at the hotel are very helpful and accommodating.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the Old City, and the location is excellent. If you're arriving by car, keep in mind that vehicles are not allowed inside the Old City, so you'll need to walk about 5–10 minutes to reach the hotel after parking. You can email the hotel in advance to ask about parking options — the detailed information they provide about free and paid parking is very helpful. The rooms are authentic and functional. It's a nice touch to have a fridge and a kettle. It would have been better if there were one or two more hooks on the bathroom wall. I really liked the hotel toiletries; they were all made with olive oil. On the first day of check-in, they offer a welcome drink with a choice of Aperol Spritz, wine, or beer — a very nice gesture. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We were satisfied with the cleanliness of the room. The hotel’s restaurant is lovely; the food was beautifully presented and tasted great. Breakfast had a good variety, but the same options were served every day. After staying for four nights, we were hoping for some variety. The taste wasn’t particularly impressive. The bed was small and narrow for two people, too soft and not very comfortable — we didn’t sleep well.

Room is spacious but ironically, the shower cubicle is tiny. The interior finishing needs to be updated as they are visibly old. Not 'old' as in old world charm but old. For example, the curtain tracks were stuck and prevented the proper opening of the windows. The hair dryer that was attached to the toilet also had a "Not Working" sign pasted onto it. Almost all hotels in Greece uses their local produce for toiletries but the hair and body shampoo for this place are imported from China... Will leave the reader to figure out the reason :) One of the windows open to the courtyard where the restaurant is so some noise can be heard even with the windows closed if there are diners. But the level is not loud to be disturbing. Restaurant closes at 12am with some guests staying later than that occasionally. About 200m to the harbour so it is centrally located with restaurants all around. The 2 ladies manning the reception were helpful and knowledgeable. If you're a guest at the hotel, you are supposed to get a 10% discount when dining at the onsite restaurant, but it was not extended in our case even though we asked for confirmation. Details in the review of the restaurant separately.

We stayed for a week at the Veneto. It’s simply superb boutique hotel with lots of character in the historic Venetian building and the staff are superb. The restaurant is excellent fine dining, managed by Marie, especially warm and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and the food everything you could ask for in fine dining. FYI finding the Veneto is challenging when you first arrive. Ask the taxi to drop you at the Hotel Ideon and the ask at every corner for the directions to Veneto. It’s only a few hundred yards and 5 minutes but the tiny streets can be very confusing.

Had a wonderful stay in room 106 (with large patio). Service is great and the décor is really nice. Quiet hotel in the middle of the old town.

We hosted our Welcome Dinner the night before our wedding in the courtyard at the Veneto and it was truly unforgettable. The food was absolutely exceptional--every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, showcasing the best of Greek cuisine. Our guests were raving about the meal long after the evening ended!||||The service was just as impressive. The staff were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They seamlessly accommodated our group, making sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the night. ||||The atmosphere was also wonderful, with the perfect blend of elegance and warmth, creating a magical setting for the special evening. The Veneto truly made our celebration a night to remember, and we are so grateful to them. We highly recommend The Veneto for anyone looking for incredible food, outstanding service and an unforgettable dining experience in Crete!
