On the Grid : The Canals

"Over 100 years ago, developer Abbot Kinney had the wild idea to bring Venice to America. While the imported Italian gondoliers never came to be, what remains is an architectural wonderland of unique homes, landscaped gardens and artfully crafted rowboats. Off the beaten path, it's a pocket of Venice that's full of piece and quiet, making it the perfect place to take a stroll and immerse in canal living. Our favorite spot is on the corner of Dell and Howland Canal - look for what might be the most magical tree in all of LA." - The Branding Farm

Driving over the bridges is cool. The canals are beautiful. The street is one way.

I spent an afternoon strolling along the Venice Canals, and it was such a peaceful experience. It’s a nice alternative to the crowded Venice Beach boardwalk. The homes along the canals are gorgeous, and there’s a serenity here that’s hard to find in LA. I highly recommend walking around and taking some photos. It’s a hidden spot that’s definitely worth the visit.

The Venice Canals are such a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Venice Beach. The canals are beautifully designed, and it’s so relaxing to take a walk around. It feels like you’re in a different world, with the sounds of water and birds all around you. If you want a quiet moment away from the crowds, this is the place to go.

Google
The Venice Canals are such a serene and beautiful place to take a walk. I’ve lived in LA for years, but I only discovered this hidden spot recently. It feels like a little piece of Europe in the middle of Venice. The canals are surrounded by charming houses, and the whole area is peaceful and quiet. It’s perfect for a morning stroll or an afternoon walk with your dog

Walking through the Venice Canals is so peaceful. Hearing the birds and wind chimes is so peaceful. Great place for pictures and walking off your brunch, lunch and or dinner. This is the zin area of Venice. Some of the bridges are decorayed for a beautiful back drop for pictures.

One of the beautiful place to visit when in Venice beach. It’s surrounded with beautiful houses

Google
Absolutely beautiful place! Very chill and relaxing. The houses are interesting and the scenery is great! Highly recommend taking a walk here in the late afternoon and then head to the beach for the sunset!

Yelp
Had to check this place to compare it to those found in Naples Island in Long Beach. The vibe here is amazing from the absolute peacefulness of quaint walkways with wonderful gardens and wildlife. Visitors will find respite from the stress of city life and will be welcomed by this hidden treasure in Los Angeles. Parking can be challenging but we'll worth the effort.

Yelp
At the turn of the century in 1905, developer Abbot Kinney decided to create Little Venice in Los Angeles. So interesting how he developed manmade canals with bridges and gondoliers to mimic the famous Italian city. Trolley service from Los Angeles and Santa Monica allowed people to visit the amusements and shows that were along the canals. As time went by and more and more cars became the norm for travel, most of the canals were filled in to accommodate residents. A few remain today as the Venice Canal Historic District. Although I am not sure that I would come here just to see the canals, they were walking distance from our hotel. Nice to follow the paths along the water, admire the beautiful gardens and cross the wooden bridges. Imagine what they would have looked like a century ago. Interestingly, Abbot Kinney also developed the Santa Monica boardwalk with a partner. He developed the Venice Canals after his partner died and his partner's wife's new husband sold their shares to an investment group that he did not like.

Yelp
A great place to admire the homes of the affluent and admire the diversity of the architecture. There were lots of ducks and baby ducks on the water and land. It's a great place for hand holding and strolling. There are a few homes where it appears someone bought two homes next to each other (same or similar design...likely keeping it in the family) and the square footage of each is like 4000 square feet. Dream a little dream of what you could do with that kind of space from a design and storage standpoint. There is a lot of diverse plant and flower growth as well. The wife had never been and was a big fan.

Yelp
I've fallen in love with the Venice Canals and living in all sorts of regret that I didn't explore them sooner. Actually, it's all of us in LA. We all are sleeping on the Venice Canals and I definitely recommend them now! #hiddengem I love going to Venice Beach on the weekends and now this is firmly added into my little weekend jaunts as a nice little stroll along the way. It's like stepping into another world - as are so many parts of this great state - and I absolutely love it. #diversitywins Created in 1905 by Abbot Kinney who wanted a Venice feel in LA, fell into disrepair for 40 years until finally being renovated in 1992 to what we now see. It's such a desired part of the city to live in now, with absolutely gorgeous homes full of charm & character or modern coolness surrounding the water. #goals I've now seen fauxBernieSanderswithSmallDog twice on these canals so I imagine him to be a Venice staple character. On my first walk around, an adorable senior couple was paddling along the water in their rowboat. It was basically like Ariel and Eric gliding along like the Golden Bachelor meets Little Mermaid with Sebastian singing Kiss the Girl but in a gondola. Awwww, Venice adorableness overload. #GoldenLittleMermaid I don't know if I'd make a special trip just for the Canals but rather combine it with going to the beach a few blocks away like I do, or the Venice Boardwalk, or some cute coffee shop. There's so much nearby to make a morning of this or an evening if it's during the Christmas holidays when they light up the canals with decorations for the season. #seasonsgreetings If you do a circle walk around the Canals from Venice Boulevard, it's just about a mile - but if you venture into all the nooks and crannies you'll get about double the steps in. i dont know why i felt the need to end every paragraph of this review with a #hashtag ;) #

Yelp
Took an out of town friend to Venice and of course, got to visit this place that not a lot of people known of. Great long streets, relaxing, beautiful views of houses, little boats, bridges and flower...right in next to the beach. Just simple being in another place right in the busty busy noisy Venice Beach.

Yelp
This was on the top of my list for my trip to LA and I was not disappointed. The canals are just as adorable as they are in pictures with vibrant flowers, birds, and architecture lining the walkways. Who needs to go to a botanical garden when you can walk along the canals? A couple of side notes: the paths are very narrow with a lot of overgrown vegetation so be prepared to pass other walkers in close quarters. The water is gross and the (albeit still cute) boats fit right in. Don't expect the pristine chlorinated waters of the Venetian Hotel. It's swampy.
google avatar

Yelp
My gf and I came here for the first time and it was nice being able to see the neighborhood and houses. We definitely were getting a lot of inspiration for what we can do to upgrade our home. Although it isn't as clean as the Long Beach canals haha. Water is pretty murky and sad that it isn't taken care of or else it would be pretty cool to do some paddle boarding or canoeing!
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
Go here instead of the Venice beach. This is like a little gem outside of DTLA. Visited the place on Saturday evening, parking is easy at the street. It's quiet, peaceful walk with breezes came in slowly, kind of cooling in the summer heat. Walking around the neighborhood, admiring their beautiful landscapes and patio facing the canals with kayaks or small canoes. This is definitely my dream house in a beautiful neighborhood. LOL.

Yelp
Venturing in Venice can not be truly complete with enjoying the scenic stretch of beauty and delight that is the Venice Canals. An 2.36 miles oasis consisting of paths, plants, sidewalks, turns and bridges. Constructed (yes built) by Abbot Kinney in the early 1900s, this man-made canal watery wetland wonderland was influenced by Venice, Italy. Bring European charm to coastal L.A. County. Definitely a great spot for leg date, an evening stroll, date idea, photo or video opportunity - V.C. of Venice, Los Angeles has been feature in many films such as Role Models, Chinatown and Valentine's Day to name some among the many. I'm not sure if Canal Pals is still around, but you're able to rent a boat with them for either a two person & up guided boat ride or private boat rental. Enjoy on the mainland as well as sea adjacent. Preserved and maintained as not only a historical landmark, but a huge slice of local flavor in L.A. to this day. Experience the canals of Venice, Los Angeles, Cali.

Yelp
I am sad to hear of the recent crime in the area has elevated. In reality, Venice Beach is an extended part of Los Angeles, and there is a great deal crime in the area. Please be careful when exploring the canals. - With that said, I have really enjoyed my multiple trips to the canals, Both on vacation and when I lived in Venice Beach. The bridges, the water, the signage, the unique gardens and beautiful flowers... It's definitely a must. - My only suggestion for safety is to travel in large groups. I cannot guarantee safety in this area, but the houses are very unique and I suggest exploring here if you can.

Yelp
Brought my nephew from Italy here as kind of a joke. Wanted to show him that we have a Venice here in the USA too, lol. We have all been to the actual Venice, Italy, but this was our first time here in Venice Beach. I find the history rather interesting. It's a historic district known for the man-made wetland canals built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as part of his Venice of America. A number of canals were filled in 1929 to make room for paved roads. What we see today are the remaining canals which were renovated in the early 90s and many large, modern houses have been built in recent years. Unsure what the parking situation would be like, I picked a street that we could easily pull in and out off since we wouldn't be staying that long. It was perfect since we easily found street parking right by the canals. There was signage and a nice view of some of the bridges. You could even drive through the neighborhood in certain streets, but we didn't have time for that. We snapped some photos, walked a bit and enjoyed the view of the beautiful houses and cute gardens. It wasn't too busy around 11am, but I could see it getting busier throughout the day.

Yelp
Ah, Venice. If you can't make it to Italy anytime soon, there are always the historic canals in Venice, CA, to enjoy. I love walking around here. The houses are cute, and the canals, built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney, are, too. Visiting during the holidays means you'll see Christmas lights and décor along the way. Unlike in Italy, there are no gondolas with gondoliers for you to ride, but you can still take a nice stroll through the neighborhoods.

Yelp
Amazing place, great atmosphere, unique character and pedestrian friendly. This place has a romantic feel, and walks are unique in all seasons and weather. The reflections of the houses in the canals make the photos from this place unbelievable. Each and every home is so unique and breathtaking. Definitely come check this place out. It's my favorite little getaway place.

Yelp
The Venice Canals are one of the mainstays of Venice, California. Certainly, the history of how they were created, in an attempt to mirror those in Venice, Italy, is interesting. But, that is not what you will find here today. Some of the original canals were filled in and throughout the one-hundred plus years of their existence they have evolved into something that is interesting, if not historically important. Today, to describe the canals, what you find is shallow murky water that is surrounded by homes. Within the canals you will see a few low-bottom boats and canoes, lining the embankment, that you will rarely, if ever, witness being paddled through the canals. Though this is the case with these boats, they nonetheless add to the overall artistic beauty of the Venice Canals. Though homes line the canals, there are easy walking paths that will take you throughout the area. These walkways are easy to get to and a fun experience to explore. One of the great things about the canals is that they are a great visual experiences to just take some time and do a slow walk through them. You never known what you will witness.

Yelp
The Venice canals are a wonderful place to take a nice morning stroll. When you come here early on weekdays, it's a lot of locals and people walking their dogs. It's great for photo opportunities because it isn't crowded. When you drive though, be careful because you will drive through mini road hills. However it is gorgeous. It is a residential area so be mindful of the noise. Parking is free if you can find it. Overall it's a nice place to walk and relax. Be careful when you're walking. Someone didn't pick up after their dog and there was large dog poo on the sidewalk. Someone also lets their cat roam free. If you're allergic, bring meds in case.

Yelp
Beautiful and peaceful. I enjoy walking here. So far it has not been hard to park nearby (don't tell anyone). You may have to walk a block or two but I come here to walk. So pretty and peaceful. The bridges across the canals - nice. Picturesque. Relaxing and fun. Also You can walk to Venice Beach and look at the Skate Park or get beach food (kinda of like fair food).

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie... I first heard about these because of GTA V I can definitely say it's much more beautiful in person and the houses are all so pretty and fun to look at on a walk. Sometimes I would see ducks and people in the neighborhood floating by on their lounge rafts. There's also a cute little duck park nearby as well which is such a cute idea haha.

Yelp
Venice Canals is located in Venice beach area of Los Angeles. Accessible via multiple streets. I paid and parked at the beach lot on Washington Bl and walked here after a visit at the Venice Pier, about 3 blocks away from the beach. These canals are nothing close to the canals in Venice Italy; not in dept, size, or historical significance. Unlike the Venice Italy canals which you can travel via motor boats to water side restaurants, hotels, cathedrals and museums. These canals are shallow in dept and narrow no motorized vessels allowed, only kayaks, small paddle boats. Surrounded by small beach cottages and newer developed homes, some have a canal slip for their personal use to access the canal water. The pathways alongside the canals are public easements and everyone can access and walkthrough. After a visit at the Venice Pier, I continued my walk on Washington Bl and saw the canal next to a couple restaurants: Siamese Garden and Baja Venice. There are no signs as local residents who live by these canals would probably prefer the general public off limits to their back yard: the canals. The canals has pedestrian bridges and a bridge to not heavy vehicles to cross. While on a stroll with my furbaby Fendi, who loves power walking at length, most of the people we encountered were nice, friendly and courteous towards us. There were dog walkers, people with a baby stroller and locals, all generally nice. Seeing nature sights and sounds was wondrous. Whether or not you have a super ambitious power waking doggy, a leisurely stroll along these Venice canals gets my recommendation.

Yelp
What a Gem!!! Hidden in Venice are the Venice canals. I had never heard the canals existed until my brother in law did some research and wanted to bring his paddle board here! Venice is very touristy and has a lot of traffic heading to the beach! I would recommend Venice Beach Parking lot on N Venice Blvd and before Pacific ave . Since we brought our own paddle board we were able to get in into the water and it was so beautiful and peaceful. Great place to go on a walk , saw lots of families and doggy's in the area . Overall highly recommend if in the area! Also picture perfect! They also had the cutest book exchange! Love to see these!

Yelp
Another one of those cute little gems in LA. Tucked behind the hustle and bustle of the streets in Venice, you find yourself in a calm and quaint neighborhood. Hidden behind the busy streets, you come upon a walkway along the water. With beautiful homes and bridges crossing over to the opposite side. Just walking along, you feel the calmness of the water. Just be courteous as you are in a residential area and homeowners are home. Beautiful picturesque bridges and walkways. If you haven't been, it's a nice little trip to make.
google avatar

Mojdeh S.

Yelp
Cozy and sweet sidewalks mark the paths between homes located along the canals and their pedestrian bridges. A cute and fun step away the bustling Venice Beach, the Canals offer a quiet respite for family walks, date night meanders, and coffee with friends while walking dogs.

Yelp
I am so glad I discovered the Venice Canals, because the entire area is sooo beautiful, and yes somewhat reminiscent of the waterways in Venice, Italy (but with an LA feel to it). Just know, right at the end of this gorgeous and enchanting neighborhood is a homeless encampment and dirty streets to bring you back to reality.  But it's still worth the visit, to take a stroll along the serene pathways, walk over the charming bridges, view the boats along the shore (as well as boaters on the water), admire the waterbirds, and the part that really stands out to me, appreciating the beautiful architecture and character of the various homes along the water, so many colors, so much greenery, creatively decorated and designed yards, gardens, and entryways. It's just so unique and lovely! Note, the closest street parking we were able to find on a Sunday afternoon was near Dell Avenue and South Venice Blvd.
google avatar

May W.

Yelp
So SO BEAUTIFUL, such a hidden gem even for a local Southern California. Came on a foggy Saturday afternoon and there weren't as many people around the walking around in the area. Streets are pretty intimate and you can see the quaint coziness coming from each house. It's a nice place if you like looking at houses and their decorations. There's Venice beach about a 5 min walk. If you want to spend a couple of hours here I would also suggest renting out bikes and biking along the Venice and grabbing food or coffee at the restaurants all clustered together. Parking: We circled around the neighborhood a couple of times before there were any open parking at the housing streets and took about 5 min walk to the canals.

Yelp
This is absolutely beeyutiful. The Venice canals takes you to Italy for a much affordable price!! Located near Venice Beach are the canals which can be very confusing to find on the GPS because it's somewhat hidden behind the driveways of homes. This place is serene, peaceful, breathtaking, romantic and a great place to get a good walk in through the bridges over the water! Great place for gorgeous pictures!
google avatar

Jason V.

Yelp
Very nice attraction in the L.A./SoCal area, located in Venice Beach. I parked in the pay lot near the famous boardwalk, but it's possible you could find cheaper/free parking elsewhere. But the canals are a great place to take a stroll. Be sure to be respectful to the residents, who are lucky enough to live in front of them! A lot of interesting history lies with the canals, as they are all man-made, and they were made to resemble the same ones you find in Italy. I don't think anyone but residents can boat on them. But it's cool enough just walking on the bridges or alongside the canals.
google avatar

Lizelle P.

Yelp
Got here early on a Saturday morning and managed to beat the crowds. It was a beautiful walk along the water. There are picturesque bridges with little boats docked and Gorgeous houses along the way to look at. Love the flowers and well kept front yards of these houses. Definitely check it out if you're in Venice Beach.

Yelp
We started off our weekend date at these magical Canals. We parked at a street nearby that was relatively close this place and the beach. Walking through this area and neighborhood was magical, especially since we had plenty of time on this day. We enjoyed looking at the houses here while listening to jazz music and talking about life. We saw many awesome things here at this hidden gem including cool canoes, beautiful bridges, fantastic flowers, and amazing architecture! Each house had its own theme and vibe to it and we loved how peaceful it was throughout every portion of this incredible oasis. There were plenty of photo opportunities and after our exciting day in the area including a trip to Venice Beach and the Boardwalk, we loved every second walking through it again on the way back to our car. Come through to experience this tremendous place!

Yelp
Went here while I was in California towards the end of summer. Very cool and pretty area to walk around. I would definitely return next time I go to Cali!

Yelp
A great place to go window shopping, looking at dream houses! My family spent a portion of Mother's Day just strolling around the canals and enjoying all the unique houses littered along the pathways. They ranged from modern boxes with windows, cozy cottagecore, rustic Spanish styles, or even abandoned hole in the walls. Loved pointing out the ones that stood out to us and commenting on those that didn't haha. The weather was beautiful, the ducks were out and about, and there was an occasional dog that passed by. Drop by for a stroll to slow down from the hustle and bustle!
google avatar

Luke L.

Yelp
I only recently discovered this popular tourist attraction in early 2022. Canals were built in 1905 & were renovated in the 1990s. There are only four canals left and it could take up to one-hour to loop the entire canals. [Admission]: Absolutely free. [Parking]: There's a public parking lot near the intersection of Pacific Ave / S Venice Blvd. Absolutely stunning view and totally Instagrammable (or as new kids say - TikTok worthy). I got pretty excited to walk across multiple bridges and saw few ducks paddling through the canals. Plus who doesn't like to check out fancy & expensive houses? Personally this is a pretty underrated tourist spot in Los Angeles and 100% worth a visit.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
This is a super cute place to check out. It's close to Santa Monica and the beaches but just far enough away that when you're walking through the canals here, you don't see the beaches. It feels like you're in a whole new area. There's a variety of different styled houses that you're walking by (please be respectful since you're basically in someone's backyard). It's a lovely place to go for a stroll and there's only 4 blocks of these so it doesn't take long either.
google avatar

Pamela L.

Yelp
I've always wanted to check out this hidden gem. After spending the day at Venice Beach, we decided to make the trek to the Venice Canals before heading over to Abbot Kinney. I thought it was going to be one long canal with a couple of bridges along these one-of-a-kind architectural homes. Each one look so completely different from the one next to them. But the canals are inter-connected with lots of bridges. Lots to explore here and one can spend a good amount of time taking photos. It is one of the most unique neighborhoods in California. According to the Netflix show, "Buying Beverly Hills" (episode 5), some of these prized homes sits on what is known as Walk Streets where pedestrians can walk without any cars driving by. Some are occupied by celebrities. What I wouldn't give to take a peek inside. Strolling through the narrow walk streets, it gave me a sense of zen to hear and see nature all around...it truly is an oasis.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful walk and very picturesque. Try to quiet when walking is a nice consideration given these are peoples homes! Defines great talk date place but please save all PDA out of windows view.
google avatar

Travis P.

Yelp
I came here expecting it to be beautiful. A slight letdown since the canals don't look like they are taken care of and there is tons of algae now. I mean it's still a nice place to checkout with modern looking houses and cool canal looking paths but I don't think it's what it used to be. Saddd
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
A fun way to spend a little bit of time while in Venice. People DO live here so I really try to be respectful. We came during a weekday and just spent a little time walking around the bridges. Still, it is fun to play a game of "pick your favorite" with your SO and see if your home design tastes are congruent. Or not. Parking is very tough, which is another reason to come during the week. But you do want to find a spot and walk around because the locals do NOT enjoy it when you stop your car on top of the bridge to gawk at the view. They really don't.
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
It's a nice walk, you get to see all these unique homes, but I definitely wouldn't drive more than 5 min to come out here again. It's just nice to stop by and walk if you're in the area
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
Honestly this was a real downer for me. I was expecting this beautiful place, but what I got was more of a run-down area with some bridges. It's like a 5-10 min walk from Venice/muscle beach so not too far out of the way to check out if you're near there. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it though.
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
Soooo insanely cool! Definitely feels like a piece of Italy in LA. I recommend going during the holidays because it's extra special with the lights all around. Great place to go for a stroll by the water and also see amazing architecture. Plus, it's a totally free activity! Easy to find parking on nearby streets too.
google avatar

Kym S.

Yelp
It had been a while since I had been here. I forgot about the ambience. I forgot about the transportation that you almost sometimes could believe that you might be somewhere else other than Venice beach.. The quaint houses this is, the beautiful landscaping landscaping and the waterfield canals. If you haven't been, you must go. Take a friend, take a date or take your dog. It's a very pleasant walk up-and-down the waterways and across the curved bridges. If you want to just grab a cup of coffee and take some time for yourself, there's no better way than to spend it traversing through the Venice Canals.
google avatar

Marian G.

Yelp
Had a great time walking through the canals of Venice. The peacefulness of the is area is undeniable calming. Great place for a photo op. Some of the bridges are decorated for amazing photos. This is the zen of Venice Beach. If looking for a place walk, this is a perfect place for walking around and enjoy the beauty of this place. Looking for something different to do on a date. Take a stroll through here.
google avatar

Alejandra P.

Yelp
This place is walking distance to or from the beach. There is plenty of street parking available in the vicinity. It is such a calm and beautiful place to walk, take pictures, have a conversation, or go on a date. There are restaurants nearby and it's a super easy walk. I would highly recommend for anyone- local or tourist to go. It's a breath of fresh air so see a different side of LA.
google avatar

Yelp
When you think about Venice, you think about the popular tourist attraction Venice Beach. However, there is a hidden gem in Venice that hardly anyone talks about and that's the Venice canals. The Venice canals is a residential area located just a few blocks from Venice beach. It is a neighborhood surround by four canals that stretches about a quarter mile long and it is connected by bridges so you can cross over from one section to another. It was designed to resemble the canals of Italy. It is a beautiful place to walk around and take in the views. There a lot of nice expensive homes along the canals with interesting architecture. It is a great place to take some cool pictures.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
It was a lovely walk and a quiet walk on a weekday. Looking at all the unique houses and gardens was very fun! A great place to bring tourists. There was lots of free street parking nearby as well as public parking lots for a fee. It's nearby other sites in Venice such as Abbet Kinney Street and the beach, so this is a great stop along the way when exploring Venice for the day!

Yelp
You'd hardly be settling if you can't get to Venice, Italy & have to take in a California-fied version of the canals. Located near Venice Beach & Abbot Kinney Ave, a stroll along the four Venice Canals nicely rounds out your day in this picturesque neighborhood. Along the waterways are narrow walkways (with some areas of overgrown foliage), adorable pedestrian bridges, & multi-million-dollar homes, each with its own distinct character & charm. We saw an event planner setting up a bar & DJ booth on one of the house's docks (how do we get invited to *that* party?!) A beautiful destination; may your visit be as sunny, serene, & unencumbered by crowds as ours was.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
When the BF wants to go to the beach and show me the canals in Venice, why not? Its been over 20yrs since I've been to Venice Beach and I've never seen the canals. In Venice lays the beautiful canals which surrounds muti-million dollar homes. Bridges each corner cover to reach the other end. By the looks of it every homeowner has a small dock to park their mini boats. I found it to be quite the dream. The wild concept of building a "Venice of America," complete with canals, gondolas and imported Italian gondoliers. It didn't come true but one can imagine.

Yelp
The Venice Canals are very special ... all that's left of an elaborate plan of canals that once graced "Venice of California". We love walking along the Canals just south of Washington Blvd in Venice, not far from the Venice Pier. The Canals are a unique preserved piece of early 20th century Los Angeles history. Private homes line the canal edges. Quaint bridges cross them. IMHO the Venice Canals are a "must see" for Los Angeles residents and visitors.

Yelp
4-17-22 Venice Canals is a photographer's ephemeris; it places the scene in the best natural light! This place is best for a romantic walk with your better half, your dog, your favorite person... well you get the idea. The canals go block for block; lined with an eclectic mix of colonial, modern, to boho, architectural homes. The properties had finely manicured landscaping full of a variety of small floral gardens and trees. My day was well spent with my best friend, the love of my life, as we strolled hand in hand down the canals in no direction at all just laughing and celebrating Easter Sunday, he found all the best spots for the perfect Kodak moments. Love my hat Yogi! Thank you for everything and so much more! Photo credits: justIncredible

Yelp
The Venice Canals is a great place to walk around. There's a lot of bridges that lead you to another part of the neighborhood. It's very peaceful and a great place to think or to do your hot girl walk. You'll see different type of houses, unique boats, people filming their social media videos, etc. It can get crowded around sunset so I would take note of the time since the walkways are also narrow. Parking is hard to find though and will need to be outside the neighborhoods where there's no parking & the roads are narrow. It's also hard to find parking since it's close to Venice Beach but well worth it if you're visiting the beach as well.

Fun place to stop by and see once or twice. The best time to come is likely right before sunset as seen in some of the photos from others. Cute little white bridges spanning across the canals make for some photogenic spots. The water in some areas is a bit still and smelly, only minnows in these waters. There are several neglected surfboards serving as duck poop platforms
