Yelp
For dinner, a group of six of us decided to check out Ven'z Kitchen for some authentic Filipino food. They were also recommended by one of my good friends who was recently in Moalboal.
We dropped in on a late Monday evening (around 8:45pm) and it was busy. The service is friendly and food comes out in a reasonable time frame.
The menu is consists of vegetarian, vegan, meatytarian, under the sea and beverages. For some reason, you need to call and book a day in advance for any of their seafood dishes. Cray.
- Red horse (60 PHP) - Filipino beer that's a bit darker. I guess you can't complain too much; it's cheap beer.
- Lumpiang Shanghai (75 PHP) - you get 5 pieces of chicken or pork springrolls. Small, standard, greasy fare. Skip these.
- Pork kilawin (180 PHP) - deep fried minced pork with cucumber, onion, and ginger.
- Mix vegetable yellow curry (170 PHP) - local vegetables cooked with Filipino yellow curry. Good flavour to the curry. Basically, a light version of a Thai yellow curry.
- Chicken adobo (180 PHP) - cooked with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, pepper, vinegar and onion. The meat was tender and tasty but a tad on the sweet side.
- Bicol express (180 PHP) - hey, vegetables! Good variety and nice to find a place that actually does vegetables properly.
- Sizzling pork sisig (200 PHP) - their most popular dish. It comes with an egg that you mix up while the plate is hot and sizzling. Tasty, hot and flavourful.
- Pork kare kare (200 PHP) - vegetables, peanut sauce based and mixed with shrimp. Had this dish the second time I came here with a different group. It came with a side of sambal that you could mix in to give it a bit of heat. Another tasty dish.
- Ginataang talong (150 PHP) - eggplant cooked in a rich, creamy coconut sauce. Bought this to eat the next day. Decent.
This is the best spot to get Filipino food in Moalboal.
