Well, I checked in at the Moana Surfrider Hotel for High Noon TeaTime. Only having to reschedule & providing me with the opportunity to check in correctly here & for "Afternoon Tea".
Here's the difference:
Afternoon Tea = includes delicate pastries, little sandwiches, scones & cakes.
High Noon/Tea = a wholesome meal of meat, potatoes & vegetables served after a long hard day at work.
Now that Tea 101 is out of the way...as a child, I never had tea parties, just a cup of tea at home or with family in a casual environment. When I got the invite, I almost declined to come as I thought "It's too hot for tea on this 80-degree island"...so glad I came.
Yes, there's a Vegan Tea Set, yes, there are perfectly paired Tea Sets for everyone's palate including a GF option, yes there are sweet & savory bites, & yes there is a selection of Moana & traditional teas, mimosas, prosecco, cocktails & even The Duke offering a Surfrider Burger with Fries & Onion Rings.
My Vegan Tea Set:
*Herbal Rooibos - a South African, earthy black & decaf tea.
*Moana Tea Salad - Local mixed greens, crispy shallots, fried garlic, sunflower seeds, cherry tomato, pickled chili, sesame seeds, & tea-infused dressing.
*The Soup & Sandwich - Hamakua tomato gazpacho with taro croquette, avocado, pickled onion, Ho farms & tomato tapenade.
*Desserts - Vegan chocolate cake, blueberry scones & fresh fruit...all for $69. I also treated myself to a Flight of Tea Infused Mimosas.
Yet, above all else, it was the elegant, Victorian feeling of dining under the canopy of the banyan trees with the Waikiki Beach aka the "First Lady of Waikiki" waves serving as background music that did it for me.
Our Server Annie had such an attitude of gratitude in serving us which simply topped off this unforgettable experience.
Reservations are on Open Table & the Vernanda is serving Afternoon Tea Friday - Sunday 11:30A - 2:30P.
If you visit Honolulu, it's a must you have a Tea Party at The Veranda at The Beachhouse. Please don't forget to send me an invite - smile.
