Veranda Resort & Villas Hua Hin – Cha Am
We genuinely wanted to enjoy this stay. The property has clear architectural intent and strong design bones, but the overall experience fell short of expectations.
The location is challenging. The resort is positioned in an isolated stretch with very little of quality within walking distance. It is next to impossible to secure a Grab taxi in the area, particularly in the evenings, which makes simple plans unnecessarily complicated. Without your own transport, you are largely confined to the property.
The surrounding neighbourhood also feels tired and somewhat run down. There is a lingering sense that the area has not fully recovered post-pandemic — limited vibrancy, limited footfall, and very little atmosphere beyond the hotel’s perimeter.
Within the resort, the public areas are arguably its strongest feature. At night, the mood lighting creates a genuinely stylish and ambient setting. It hints at what this hotel once was — and perhaps could be again.
However, the bedrooms feel dated. They are generously sized, but the soft, squeaky beds and ageing televisions detract from the experience. In 2026, guests expect smart TVs with streaming capability as standard. Limited programming on older sets feels out of step with current hospitality norms.
Breakfast was chaotic rather than curated. The selection felt basic and at times low-grade, particularly the cold offerings. Eggs were available but unremarkable. At this price point, breakfast should feel thoughtful and abundant, not rushed and functional.
The pool is large and well positioned, yet during our stay it was visibly unclean, with leaves and debris in the water. Attention to detail here is not optional at a resort of this category.
Staff were polite but appeared distant and overstretched — service felt transactional rather than warmly attentive.
Two decades ago, this property was likely considered cutting-edge and luxurious. Today, it feels in need of significant modernisation, operational tightening, and renewed energy.
There is still potential here — but potential alone does not justify the current positioning or price.
