Veranda Tamarin Hotel and Spa

We spent an amazing 2 weeks at Veranda Tamarin for our honeymoon in November 2024 and we loved the relaxed island vibe and boho style of the hotel. ||The rooftop pool and bar was our favourite spot to hang out sunbathing and reading on the days we wanted to chill at the hotel, and when you want to get out and explore there are staff on hand to book excursions through (shoutout to Alison! 🫶🏼) and you accrue credits towards activities with the hotel so we had 2 out 3 activities for free! We booked seven waterfalls hike, sunrise kayak and a catamaran day trip to ile aux cerfs. We also booked swimming with dolphins through the surf school and saw about 50 dolphins which was an amazing experience 💙||Sometimes you wait a little while or there isn’t someone at the bar but in all honesty we quite liked the relaxed island vibe, and got on board, gorgeous cats and doggies about and no one ever told us off for feeding them and no one ever said we can’t go near/in the pool with a drink like you often get in Europe. ||There was some noise from the beach some evenings but we were there just after the election so there were lots of celebrations, it didn’t bother us too much I think you have to remember that it’s a local town and a public beach, let the locals do their thing and book a more expensive luxury hotel if you want total tranquility. ||Some nights the food was great, some nights it was a bit average, overall it was pretty good for the price. Out room was always clean and plenty of clean towels and pool towels provided. ||We loved it here, think it’s a great hotel for couples and families making a tropical destination more affordable. We would love to come back, when I can eventually afford it and can cope with the 13 hour flight again! Thank you Veranda Tamarin for an amazing honeymoon 🌴💕

Our two-weeks stay in Veranda Tamarin was a very pleasant experience. It is a perfect spot if you are curious to explore the island and engage in the variety of activities it has to offer. The hotel has a very well organized system for booking the activities, and the Explorer program comes in as an extra bonus. We’ve tried Cascades, kayaking, hiking Le Morne - all ended up being great and rewarding experiences. |The hotel is located right on the beach with gorgeous sunsets on one side and mountain view on the other. |The Staff is extremely helpful, but not imposing any services on you, which is refreshing. |Overall, it all makes our visit a very special and unique experience. |Last and not least many thanks to wonderful people who took care of us and we felt like we are among friends: Alison, Abigail, Fabien, Chandish, Kimberley, and Alexandre.

I checked in with my mum on Tuesday afternoon, and the reception staffs were polite and always ready to assist us. The barman on the rooftop made an excellent mocktail for me and was very friendly towards the guests. The food was amazing, I enjoyed it so much I could hardly breathe! I checked out this afternoon at 12 pm. I saw a friend of mine Jessen, once again very helpful towards the food. Both the F&B manager and the assistant manager were attentive and consistently helpful. The housekeeping department were very kind as well! Thank you for the incredible hospitality!

I’m extremely disappointed with everything about this hotel. They have a massive issue with bugs to the point that we had bugs on our bed, cockroaches on the floor and I was welcomed with an ant in my drink! Even at dinner a massive bug fell on my plate. We transferred hotels at our own extra cost and we forgot a pair of shoes we called the same day and they mentioned they see it and will keep it safe, as it has my name on it. We stop by on the way to the airport and guess what, they couldn’t find it any where, lying to us and saying someone else had the same shoes and we gave it to them, how can you give someone else the wrong pair of shoes that had my name on it and why would they accept to take it. We wasted our time and money to get to the hotel and collect our belongings which they couldn’t seem to locate even though it was kept “safe”. HORRIBLE hotel.

I will not recommend the hotel. Great location the infrastructure good but unfortunately the service of the hotel is the worst we ever experienced, no customer service, we got hair in our drink not even an apology the F&B manager was very rude to customers and staff. Food was average , asking for a drink staff were too tired to serve. |Not a place recommended if you are planning to stay in the hotel only zero customer service from most of the hotel staff.

I was sooo impressed by this hotel! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the location is fantastic. I had seen some average reviews before my stay, but after being here, I can't understand why! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Milos made every meal special with his friendly smile and attention.🫶🏻The food was amazing, and you could feel it was made with love and care. The team really looked after us, and I would love to come back!

Our first time to Mauritius and were keen to stop on the west side of the island. We chose the Veranda Tamarin due to the competitive price and seemingly things to to around it. |On arrival we were shown to our our ground floor room and were happy with the room. We had all the essential requirements we seek, a decent bed, shower, air conditioning, safety deposit box, all of which was functional and clean. |We arrived on a Sunday and nothing was open around the hotel. We had a nap but we're awoken by the locals who were on the beach with a car stereo so loud it was rattling the single glazed windows in or room!|We were hoping there was things/places to to/see around the hotel but there is not. Super U is withing walking distance but the route is not ideal. The other two shops are expensive and have strange opening times.|There are two restaurants which are both nice, casa nostra and casa pizza which are near. They are both good for eat in or take away but are both Italian. |The food in the hotel is thoroughly average, catering for the masses. The venue is nice but the food is tasteless and the service is inconsistent. |If you get the hotel to order you a taxi make sure you stay and witness it being done as we were caught out by one that had not been done. |The hotel/ pool areas are ok, be aware if you use the main pool that the surrounding decking is a death trap and needs attention, especially if you have children. |The trips sorted by the hotel are excellent and we made full use of the Explorer points which was very good. |Our main issue with the hotel was the inconsistently of the hotel staff at meal times. Sometimes we had brilliant staff who could not help enough and other times they were almost rude!|In general the hotel was ok to use as a base to see the island, it is nice to have access to the public beach but there it not much around it. All entertainment in the hotel stops at 2100 hours and after that there is nothing. Anything you see on Google maps is probably in the food court at Super U. |Just be aware the good price is at the cost of good food/service in the hotel restaurant.

I stayed at this place from 20 to 22 October. The rooms are tiny, but very aesthetically designed. And the rooms are not kitted out for somebody who is working remotely. The staff are very professional, although I had to see them 3 times in order to get a chair to work from. I forgot a parcel in the room after checking out and a lady called Kimberly was so gracious to keep it until somebody came and collected it. The downside is the noise from the rooftop bar. I checked in on a Sunday expecting peace and quiet, but the noise from that bar till very late at night was horrible. The beach was not working or swimming beach, which was a disappointment, but I can’t blame the hotel for that so it would not be a place that I would be visiting very soon.
