"Housed in two 120-year-old villas near K Road, I found Verandahs Parkside Lodge to be a family-run, warm and welcoming hostel with nearly every kind of room imaginable: shared rooms from three to five beds, single (non-bunk) beds with nice duvets, and small dorms so you never feel crammed; the hostel is clean with showers that have really good water pressure, a common room that feels like a living room, and a huge kitchen ideal for cooking—an excellent central Auckland location." - Matthew Kepnes
100 meters from 3 cool bars for easy night time fun and lovely cafes and restaurants too for daytime enjoyment. Room was warm with oil heater, comfy bed and accessible shower. Need to bring own teas coffees in room but has kettle and sink in a cupboard. BEAUTIFUL old villa style room huge high ceilings and cups up there too. Recommend!

It faced the park, so it was quiet and nice. The shared kitchen was spacious and had a microwave, cooking utensils, and tableware. I also felt that the shared bathroom was well-used. It's a little far from the city center, but there's a supermarket nearby and a bus stop nearby, so it wasn't that inconvenient. I'd like to stay here again if I come to Auckland.

I'd highly recommend staying at this place in Auckland! The owner is very nice & helpful & the whole hostel has a really friendly atmosphere. My room is great & the whole building is lovely & in a good location so you can walk to where you want to go easily. I also got parking outside the building which I'm really pleased about 😊

I've come to the end of my trip and this accomodation has been the best one I've stayed in throughout my trip and I've stayed in a few.
The rooms are spacious and so are the bathrooms and showers.
The kitchen is big and spacious, enough space for multiple people to cook and not be in each others space.
The vibe is amazing, the staff are helpful and friendly.
Close to lots of cool things to do or just walk around.
Absolutely amazing and I would definitely stay here again.

The place, rooms and amentities are a bit on the worn side, but it was my favourite place to stay during my entire month travelling around NZ. Small and very personal, which makes it easy to meet and chat with other travellers (unlike the larger hostels). You have everything you need to do your own cooking, near a supermarket, and Ponsonby is a lovely part of Auckland. Will definitely stay here again.

Really lovely chill environment. Set right up against the park, the crickets drown out the sounds of the city. Right across the street from all the trendy cafes, bars and restaurants. Really a nice little gem they got here

I lived there for a week when I first arrived in Auckland two years ago. The owner and the receptionist are both super nice and friendly. the place is not very big, but clean and tidy. I also lived in another hostel during that time, but the experience here is times better. Highly recommend to all new international arrivals who first arrive in this country.
