Went to the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy. Great deal for $55. Drinks didn't match the pictures, but the performers were very good and entertaining. The venue was clean and easy to get in and out. Easy parking within a block or two. Felt very safe in the area.

I come here for swing dance lessons, and it is really fun. The live bands at the end makes this place so fun to be at. People will go around to look for partners to dance with, and it is a great way to practice, leading or following. It looks like they have other dance types on other days of the week too. I agree with the other post where they said that it gets hot and stuffy. I wish that they would serve bar snacks because I often have to come before I even get dinner and walking around to the nearest Safeway wasn’t a great jaunt in nice clothing. Highly recommend anyone looking to learn and find a dance community here.

Place was rented for an event. Parking around the street was sufficient oddly enough for SF. The interior was nice from an older era. Did not utilize but they have a bar and kitchen area. There a stage. For event patreons, there is stairs in the front, and dim for media. Take that into account.

The Woodchopper's jazz dancing classes on Tuesdays are the best. They offer Lindy-hop, Balboa, and Solo Jazz styles, followed by social dance featuring well-renowned jazz bands. The Verdi Club was established in 1916 by the San Francisco Italian Community, and  it is now one of the most intercultural and intergenerational dancing places in the city of asan Francisco. It features an ample wooden dance floor and a band performance stage. The Verdi Club also features a full bar staffed by professional and friendly bar tenders. The Verdi is located on Mariposa Street between Potrero Ave and Hampshire St.

Super fun venue on line dancing night sponsored by Stud Country. Friendly, welcoming vibe. If you don't know how to do it, they will teach you (2 dances), or just ask someone and they'll give you a little help.

I held a birthday party with live music for 70 guests in July (all vaccinated, because Delta). Jason and Chef Sean were terrific in working with me to come up with a menu. The food was delicious, the guests all raved about it. Sound tech Glen was patient and professional through the many, many last-minute changes and tweaks to the staging and live mix. The staff were all wonderful, even helping with sound equipment load-out at the end of the evening. The venue itself is truly gorgeous, very old-school SF. This is the first place I'll be looking at for future events!

Great place for a party. Nice stage. Too bad the bathrooms are either a bunch of stairs down or up depending on gender. Street parking nearby not too bad.

I just threw my husband's 60th birthday party here. The space is beautiful and the guests were as impressed as we were. We had musicians and although they have their own engineer, were willing to work with the one the band likes instead. On top of the space, the man who manages it, Jason, went above and beyond and I mean BEYOND to help us and guide us. Since we could not afford a whole kitchen staff and needed to bring in our own food, he helped us hands on the whole time. He even joined my friends and me retrieving some stuff I had forgotten momentarily on the sidewalk that was taken by a guy who was on stuff requiring needles. In the old days, I would say heroin, but nowadays, who knows? Anyway he went over the security footage multiple times, the last time with me and my friend and we saw it happen. It was my fault because I left it there behind a tree and forgot about it for a bit. He was still so kind. Jadon is kind and skilled and the club is lucky to have him. My husband loved his party. If I were able to throw lots of events in SF, they would all be here. I wish there were more stars

PARKING: Is street parking or down the street after Verdi has some parking spaces that you can easily turn into that are lined. I didn't feel that unsafe in this area. It's quite lit at night. DANCE: I come to Verdi for Hello Bachata social dance events that happen here once a month usually on the second Sunday of the month. It's a huge venue inside. VENUE: It does get HOT in here! Even in the winter, it gets hot inside so you can imagine how much of an oven it becomes in the summer months. This is a cool venue with a historic feel. BATHROOM: The bathroom situation is not ideal because there is one bathroom as in one toilet with one sink. With the amount of people that this place can fit, you would think they would have more bathrooms available. I've been lucky and haven't had to wait to use the bathroom because I tend to wait until the end of the night.

We went here for Edgar Allan poe speakeasy, the whole experience was amazing and all those four drinks were delicious!!! Definitely enjoyed our time here!

I spent a magical evening at the Verdi Club for a friend's birthday. The club is beautiful and the service top notch. The food, served buffet style, was delicious and hearty Italian fare. Live band, hoppin' dance floor, great atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and check out one of their events!

We had our wedding here, and it exceeded our wildest expectations! Jason is a true professional and all around cool guy who was able to bring our idea of a karaoke wedding reception to life. He was there every step of the way from planning to day of logistics - we couldn't have done it without him. The venue itself is a rich piece of San Francisco history, lovingly maintained and still one of the most unique and fun venues today. Having a lounge with an actual bar (and awesome bartenders) is such a fun feature, as are the extra rooms upstairs. The food was great too, and was a hit amongst our guests! Thanks again to Jason, the Verdi Club, and the staff that made it happen!

One of the most unique spots in SF! An absolute must visit. Sends you back to the Jazz Age and the roaring 20s' you feel like swinging :)

Had our wedding here! It was more than perfect. What a beautiful space to have our ceremony and reception. Jason who manages to hall,was wonderful to work with. Great response time, flexible when needed, and all round great person. He helped with recommendations on vendors as well as managing the space to make our event run smoothly. I'm house chef who catered for us was outstanding, our guests couldn't stop taking about how great the food was. The bar was perfect. We had a 110 people event that felt more than perfect for the space. The Verdi club is by far the best venue to hold any kind of gathering! Worth every penny. Thank you!!

We came here for a anniversary function and had 13 tables. The venue looks a little dated but it's a nice size room for 130 of us and a live band. The band sounded great because the acoustics sounded great. Our meal was actually very good. We were served some hot rolls and it was delicious with butter. Then were given a bowl to serve ourselves salad. It wasn't bad - something like some vinegarette on spring salad with some carrots. Next we had a baked chicken Parmesan with some Zuchinni veggies. The chicken was actually very tender. My favorite was the mini fruit tart dessert. It was Usually how they served it. They brought it out in a tray in one corner of the large room and everyone had to serve Themselves. There were no plates or forks - just napkins. Also on the table with the tarts were carafes of coffee and cups which was help yourself. All 130 Of us crowded around that table all at once not knowing if they would run out of tarts. I don't understand why they didn't put 10 Tarts on a tray on each table. Other than that - the service people were very accommodating. They kept refilling our carafes of ice water till the very end of the night. Usually after dinner the staff doesn't tend to us but the Verdi club did.

My parents celebrated their wedding reception at Verdi club 30 years ago. And last night we were able to celebrate the milestone by having a private family dinner at the Verdi club. Thank you so much to Jason and Sean for all your efforts to make such a special night/experience for our family. The space looked beautiful and the food was delicious. We really had such a good night and are really grateful to the club for hosting us. 10/10 recommend the Verdi club for an event or for their yummy meals. We look forward to coming back when they are able to fully reopen.

This review is for the Friday family meal pickup. Checked out their website Wednesday which announced the meal as follows Bacon wrapped pork loin Garlic parmesan mashed potatoes Arugula salad With desert Order the 4-person meal that came out to a little under $100 arrived Friday around 5pm easy breezy pickup from the location on mariposa. Also could not resist the chocolate cookies they offer as an add on with sea salt on top. The cookies were some of the best I have ever had so moist and the sweet and salty went perfectly together. The dinner itself was phenomenal! The pork was cooked to perfection and it was served with a great sauce that complimented the meat. The mashed potatoes were very good as well. The arugula salad it came with was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good I wish I had moreeeeeeeeeee I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be placing my order for next week!

I recently attended Shimmytown Monday, and I'm so glad Verdi Club is hosting social dances again, so soon after ending their Tuesday night jams. I've never taken swing classes here, but I know friends who have and enjoyed them. I want to come here more often, though it's not my favorite social dance spot. The main room is dimly lit, and the vibe is still a little timid, compared to a venue like the 9:20 Special. I think it will gain popularity and energy over time. My favorite part about Verdi Club is the Women's Lounge! Super swanky. I could chill there for hours while gossiping with my girlfriends and new friends. Shimmytown Monday is $12 for a 9:00 to 11:30 dance session, which is okay. There's apparently a bar, which I didn't take advantage of during my first visit. Verdi Club is not what I would consider walking distance from any BART station, but it's right next to the 9 bus stop. Overall, like with any other dance, the key is to grab some friends and head here with the goal of meeting new people and just having fun!

Need something to do on a Sunday night? Do you like Jazz, R&B, Funk, Old School or Blues type Music? Then the Sunday Rhythm & Blues Club @ Verdi is where you need to be. A great place, in a great location with classy folks who enjoy the best that life has to offer can be found here on Sunday's between 5 - 10 PM. And the #1 reason to visit Verdi's on Sunday........ No Drama!

Came here for a party and the venue was gorgeous, dripping with old-school glamour. Drinks were stiff and well-made, and the event staff made sure the regularly clear plates etc- made everyhing a snap!

We ordered chicken cacciatore for pick up dinner this evening. The meal was a hit! The polenta side perfectly prepared. The shredded chicken was generous and perfectly spiced, the side of bread, salad and dessert were the perfect accompanying dishes. We love the Verdi.

I went here last night for a swing dance concert and burlesque show. It's in a quiet part of town that I rarely go to, and had never heard of. I thought it would be hard to find, but as soon as I turned onto Mariposa I saw it all lit up. It looks small from the outside, but has a pretty big reception hall, and a nice layout to separate the bar. The concert (Slim Jenkins) was awesome, and there was plenty of space to dance around and enjoy ourselves. The bar was a whole other story. It was pretty empty when we tried to get drinks, but we were invisible to both bartenders and it took us 5 minutes just to order. My friend and I weren't in the mood for drinks so we both got Cokes, hers tasted ridiculously syrupy and mine was all carbonation with hardly any syrup. Small detail but it was more the way we were treated, the bartender was rude about it and the soda tasted terrible. If I were looking for a wedding venue I think this place would be a real find. It's tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that is easy to get to. There isn't really a lot of personality to the building, but I think you could work that to your advantage and jazz it up to fit whatever theme you were going for. I am excited to learn more about the events they have here, including the Tuesday Night Jump...sounds great!

The Verdi Club is an awesome venue to have or attend an event at. This the second time we have had an event here and both of the events were amazing. We had an event here two years ago in December 2016 for a group of over 135 people. We had two bands and had Sean (their top shelf in house chef) create a menu for this event. We had another event in December 2018 with over 235 people attending. Again Sean created a tasty menu of passed appetizers, snack platters, a burger bar and a dessert bar....everything was excellent. The two bands we had play loved the brand new sound system and the in house engineer. They added a new lower stage that makes interaction with the bands off the hook. Jason the big boss man who runs the venue is a stellar asset. He knows the ins and out of the club and his recommendations for layout and set up at spot on. He made the event planning, set up and the overall event a raging success. I would recommend this place for any size event. The venue is awesome. The staff is awesome and the drink prices are cheap. Jason is the best use his knowledge he knows what he is doing. Looking forward to our next event there.

This place really is a keeper! If I lived close by I would be a member in a heartbeat. Jason, the coordinator took care of our party seamlessly. the food is great, the price was right and the decor is classic.

If you are a chill person looking for a funky fun place to get married, do it at the Verdi Club. Now. We had a 90 person wedding here last weekend and Jason and team nailed it. Everything in the reviews is true the food is incredibly delicious (thanks Chef Sean!!), the entire team is so friendly and helpful, Jason is awesome to work with, the location has so much character and the price cannot be beat in crazy expensive San Francisco. Some highlights: Chef Sean offered to make anything that was important to us or fit the theme so we took him up on his offer and he made a delicious dessert from a family recipe which was such a cool thing to have on the day, Jason recommended working with Lauren of Nicoella Designs (she's worked with the space a lot and is fantastic) and that was absolutely the best recommendation we could have received) and the place is designed for music and dancing so we hired a Jazz trio to play during dinner and it's also awesome to have the entire floor be the dance floor. I also want to say that during our wedding planning process they ran into a pretty major roadbump with the space that was completely out of their control and they handled it with grace and professionalism. The wedding went off without a hitch and we would choose this location again in a second. Such an awesome location and Jason is awesome to work with. Final bonus is that we can now take dance lessons at the place we got married which is pretty special!! Highly recommend, definitely get married here :)

They almost tempt me to try dance steps again - almost! I've been to the Verdi Club for swing dance night (Tuesdays) and more recently for the fantastic Porchlight storytelling series. The place is great - from the enormous ladies lounge to the old wooden bar to the not-too-large but just right ballroom. It exudes the charm and history of times when going out for the evening involved elaborate dressing (for both sexes) and knowledge of the foxtrot. If I were not a hopeless klutz when it comes to dancing involving remembering a sequence of steps, I would be here every Tuesday. To be here when a live band is playing is really the way to see the Verdi Club come alive.

What a great historical club venue, sitting there under my nose all of this time, a jaywalk away from Slow Club. Since 1935, the building has been open as a private club, and you can almost feel the swish of skirts and shoes twirling in constant motion as you walk across the beautiful wood floor. The chandeliers are deco-fabulous, and the disco ball spins round and round, sending light all around you and making magic. I came here for the first time last night, to attend Porchlight storytelling series (http://porchlightsf.com/) and was so pleased at their choice of the Verdi Club as their new home. The acoustics were great and the vibe was retro-festive. I loved the separate bar room, and the bartenders were nice and efficient, handling the crowd easily. The only drawback was that the stage is very dimly lit, making it hard for these old eyes to focus on the performers. But the best part of the Verdi Club? The Ladies Lounge. It's upstairs on the 2nd floor and is HUGE, in an old country club kind of way - you almost expect to see a bathroom attendant handing out towels and find cans of Aqua Net on the counter. Couches in bathrooms - yes, please - we need this kind of space for "freshening up" with our friends and indulging in a little gossip. As well as hosting numerous dance lessons and activities, it would make a great choice for a wedding or party. I love a place that makes you feel like putting on your best dress and grabbing a date for Saturday night. Dancing shoes on!

After months of searching for a reasonably affordable wedding venue a friend suggested the Verdi Club. (It would have been perfect for us, if we hadn't already found an outdoor location that we fell in love with http://www.sfai-location.com/#s=5&mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&p=3&a=0&at=0 .) There are many reasons why I would recommend having a wedding, or party, at the Verdi Club. Denny is awesome- very accommodating, cool and mellow. I am sure he does an awesome job of making sure everything runs smoothly during events. He is easy to talk to, and just seems like a good guy. The costs, which you can see on their website, are very reasonable most especially if you use their caterer. The $2500 fee is waived if you have 100 guests or more. The convenience of having the tables, chairs, plates, glassware, silverware all on the premises is amazing! The setup and cleanup is included with the rental, which is also a huge plus! Denny will let you have friends come in and decorate before the wedding.. I liked the feel of the BIG room with the HIGH ceiling. It would be a great place for a theme wedding! Another perk is the room upstairs next to the Ladies Lounge. This can be used as a play room for kids to go to and hang out in during a wedding. Hire a couple of babysitters! I have many friends who got married way before me, and they all have kiddies now, so this offers the option of having kids at your wedding, and giving them their own place to play if they get bored. This was a big selling point for me. All in all, searching for a venue for my wedding took a lot of time and effort. It's not *Julia Morgan Ballroom* fancy, so if that is what you're looking for, this would not work for you. The Verdi Club is great for families, hipsters, you, and me. Been curious about Verdi Club forever, thinking it was no doubt chock full of character. Went a couple of weeks ago to see a Sketchfest event, and it was fine for that....but characterful it is not. In the bar area, the ceiling is popcorn, and in the main room it is white tiles....a shame, because in both cases they are probably covering some nice woodwork. On the plus side, there is a disco ball permanently attached in the ballroom, and if you go heavy on the decorating you could make this place look nice for your special event. Just don't look up.

I actually signed up for yelp just to write a review of this place. That's how great it is! My wife and I got married here last week. The venue was perfect for us. It easily accommodated our 120 guests. Initially I was concerned about parking but it ended up not being an issue at all. Jason helped us through each step of the process and he couldn't have done a better job or have been more professional. Chef Sean prepared buffet style mole and tacos for us. The food was delicious, several people mentioned how great was to us throughout the night. Overall we had a perfect night in big part because of the Verdi Club. If your considering having a wedding here. You should.

If you are looking for an awesome venue in San Francisco to get married, look no further than the Verdi Club. We got married here last month (May 2013), and we couldn't have been more pleased with everything. Denny was extremely helpful and always available to answer any and all questions. He made the planning super easy and took a lot of stress out of a super stressful time. The food was incredible! We're still getting comments from guests about it. My wife is half Italian so we've had plenty of good Italian meals over the years, and even her side of the family absolutely loved the Italian buffet. If you want a reasonably priced, good size, super fun venue without lots of drama/headaches, check out the Verdi Club. Thanks again Denny!!

I swing dance and lindy hop a few times a week. I love dancing to live music, and up-tempo stuff really flips my skirt. I like to support local venues and local musicians. I'm a sucker for a smooth wood floor. When I'm not dancing, I like to sip a drink in a cozy atmosphere and chat with the bartender. So, naturally, Verdi is one of my favorite late-night destinations. A few weeks back, I learned something new about Verdi that made me want to write them an overwhelmingly positive five star review. Here's my story: I arrived one Tuesday night and realized that I didn't have any cash on me to pay the cover charge. But I had my checkbook on me, so I asked if I could pay with that. They had no problem with it, and when I asked who to make the check out to, they said "Stompy Jones." Me: Wait, the door fees go directly to the band? Doorman: Yep. Now if that isn't worthy of five stars, I dunno what is.

OMG I love this place. I want to get married in SF just so I can have an Italian-American hall style wedding circa anytime between 1916, the year this place was founded, and 1989. Maybe I should throw a wedding party just for kicks--you know how people throw 80s prom theme parties, etc.? The Italian American hall wedding party circa 1979, let's do it. Music, food, passion, ivory lace. We could vote in the night's bride and groom. I came to Verdi Club for my birthday to see Cheryl Strayed's Rumpus reading of Tiny Beautiful Things. It was full of the most glorious nerds-in-love-with-words, SF hipsters too sexy for their whiskey and wine bar alcove, stray singles clutching the free book they got with admission, quiet couples gazing at the stage. It was a contemporary cross-section of new urban creative hopefuls and ladies with longings in their hearts. The space is big and warm, with plaster walls and wood floors. There's enough space to get caught up in the middle of it all, or tuck away into an intimate moment in the corner bar or back hallway. The stage is humble and fabulous. I'm looking forward to going to Porchlight there next week, SF's staged story telling series.

Everything about the Verdi Club is so wonderful, that I'm still pinching myself four days after my wedding reception . . . The whole experience with Denny, Rey and the Verdi Club staff still seems like the very best fairytale become real. From the corners of the Verdi Club's fancy noirish old San Francisco charm, magic bubbles forth. Yes, I said Magic - where do you find that these days? Call me Cinderella - The Verdi Club made me feel that way. On top of the very best food, the most charming venue you could ask for, a great competitive cost, I got these amazingly wonderful people. Denny is a veritble fairy godmother with a down-to-earth, easy-going stlye and an excellent sense of humor. The staff are top-notch, gracious, and wonderfully smart. The chef is amazing. My wedding photographer friend, who has sampled the catered cuisine of more than 200 weddings over the last 10+ years, rated the Verdi Club in the top 1 percent. This all is simply what anyone wants for their wedding . . .or their anything! If you choose the Verdi Club for your next venue, don't be suprised by the Verdi's upright honest treatment and flexibility. They do everything to help. There's no weird vibe - just an honest business vibe from people who are so good at what they do, they don't have to play games. The Verdi Club is San Francisco's excellent example of the axiom that when you are the best you don't need a snobish attitude. It's one of the best gems this city has to offer. It's grace and style shine in the space itself, the five star food, but also in the warmth and charm of the people who work there. I will never forget the staff and the wonderful skill with which they orchestrated my Cinderella night at the Verdi. Thank you Verdi Club!

Old school 'frisco- straight up, maybe with a lime twist, and perhaps served dirty- like my martinis, or..... well that's for another review Going to Verdi is like taking a trip in the wayback machine- and looking at the pics of people getting rizzled from 1918 all the way till seeing the grandpas in stunnah shades of the 70s, its kinda crazy. But the crowd, and the generous drinks definately rock. When I ordered a couple shots of Sambuca, the wild gleam in the eye of the bartender told me all I needed to know- it was going to be a rough wednesday morning. Tuesday swing dancing is awesome- complete with an awesome live band, and enough rockabilly kids, dancers and everyone else to really make you feel like you're in some kinda timewarp mashup. I danced my arse off, and i'm still aching today. Props to verdi- not so big props to my wednesday morning.

What a cool venue! I saw a Porchlight stand-up thing here and loved the ambiance. Even all the way in the back, you are still fairly close to the stage. They have a bar [always a good thing] with a good selection of beers by the bottle. There is even ample street parking around the corner, a luxury in San Francisco. I look forward to attending more events here. Auf.

LOVE this place! My sister in law got married here last week and it was just a fantastic experience. Every employee from the owner, to the wait staff, to the cook, to the bartenders, were friendly, patient, funny and professional. And things ran like clockwork. You know how every wedding has that one thing that goes wrong? This one didn't. Not one thing. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a cool, slightly quirky place to hold an event. Perfect for small weddings, banquets, ceremonies, parties, and concerts.

As an out-of-towner and big fan of Stompy Jones my friend (who flew in from LA and is good friends with the band) and I made our way down to the Verdi Club last night. It was good to see Stompy and hear the new singer, Christoper. What a smooth, silky cat he was last night. We really enjoyed his vocals. The band was great - no surprises there. A part of me really misses Pops, but we know he would want us to enjoy the band. Beside the full bar (a rarity among California Swing Venues) I really like the layout of this hall. The floors were fast and clean - optimal for fast Lindy's and Stompy tunes. I appreciated touches of ambient, low lighting through the sparkling chandeliers. It's also good to see folks really get into the spirit and actually dress up for a Jump Night. As one beloved swing dancer once said to me, "Who ever introduced bicycle shorts to swing dancing should be shot!" Keep those zoot suits and 40s-inspired dresses alive! So, the locals were friendly, welcoming and there are a few good leads to be found at Verdi. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening we got back to the hotel after 1am - not bad for a Tuesday night. Hope to see everyone at Frankie Week in NYC!!!

Took Partner in Crime here the other evening, to check out Johnny Boyd. Cool place, cool vibes and good sounds, in an unpretentious venue full of cool cats. Stompy Jones started things off, getting the crowd into the groove. Johnny Boyd rocked the house! Good to see you again buddy. Don't be a stranger and let's go get a Hot Pocket sometime soon ;-) If we meet up in the Mission, then we can get us a Caliente Pocket.

What's there not to love... Great dancing, awesome floor, gals in dresses and gents in slacks.... The classes rock and the people aren't so bad either ;) Come to have fun and see some style while you're at it!

I went here for a show and of course dancing. I was not disappointed, the venue was great, the music was great and the people were nice. A lot of great dancers here, who were willing to dance with a newbie :) Huge dance flow, lots of chairs and table to sit,drink or rest. Great sound. Bar was fine, didn't' have trouble with the bartenders. The ladies room or should I say lounge was incredible. Will come here again for future events, or dance lessons. Also PARKING IS EASY!

I cannot say enough good things about our recent wedding reception at the Verdi Club! Denny was great to work with, very chill but on top of all the details. Food: we are still getting compliments on the food we served (through Sean, the VC chef). Chicken Piccata, Bacon wrapped pork, Stuffed manicotti for vegetarians and all the tasty sides. People loved the pancetta shrimp, mushroom tarts and sausage crostini appetizers as well. Music: we booked the house wedding band, Marc and the Casuals. Best decision I've ever made! Marc is a fantastic guy and his band rocked the house. Everyone agreed they made the night! thank you thank you Denny and the Verdi Club for an unforgettable event!

Very old school San Francisco - coming here is like being the world's most boring time lord. But, yeah, cheap drinks, good venue. Cool vintage feel - I can totally imagine troops dancing here during WWII. Bring cash because the bar doesn't take cards.

The speak-easy bar and a 50's gym prom atmosphere provide an excelent set up for this dancing venue. The San Francisco Jitterbugs taught here a while ago, and you can find East Coast swing, Lindy, Shag, and Balboa teachers, classes, and students here. I especially recommend Hep Jen. And, there is a live band here EVERY TUESDAY. Stompy Jones is a fantastic band, period. I am still to get their newest CD, but I have to say, I am a big fan. This is a great place for beginners, there are so many people that flock here that sometimes there is little room to actually dance.

We had our wedding here and loved the venue. The manager is both laid back and detail-oriented. He was totally straight up about prices and we had no surprises. I totally recommend the Verdi Club.

I reached out to the manger named jason because I wanted to have an adult prom for my birthday I had sold tickets to have my party I went looked at this venue really loved it jason seemed to be a very nice guy until I was unable to have the party because not only did I get into a car accident and almost lost my damn life I hit my head broke my tooth and had to get transported to the hospital later to find out I had an concision and while running test to make sure everything else was ok they found something else not related to the accident going forward once I got my health in order I reached out to jason because I was unable to have the party on the date we had scheduled to let him know the reason why I was unable and why I didn't reach out to him his response to me was he didn't believe I had got into a car accident he didn't believe what I was saying and that if I couldn't do the party that was fine but he didn't believe me to me it was a slap in the fuckin face because who the fuck did he think he was to pass that type of judgement on me and even if he didn't believe me it was unprofessional for him to tell me to my face very bold guy who was way out of line I felt disrespected and he had no right so I hung up after the conversation I then texted him pictures not only of my car but of my tooth if my contact with my lawyer so on and so forth he then said he would be calling me the next day but of course because he felt stupid he didn't !!!!!

Tuesday night at the Verdi Club is way cool. The building is beautiful. Hardwood dance floor excellent live Swing band. Great Swing classes. Awesome Eye Candy. People are often dressed very retro / super hot 1940's style And the peeps not dressed up are still cool to watch dance. This is also one of the friendliest venues for new swing dancers. The bar always has bottles water for the thirsty dancers. I also hear that the drinks a nice and strong and not too expensive. Anyone looking to learn how to swing dance take a class from Hep Jen www.hepjen.com She is the best! If she could teach me how to do a pretty good swing out then she could teach anyone.

It's a working Italian-American social club rich with history and has a lot of great details that are hard to find in a lot of spaces these days (our photographers had a great time shooting some of those details). You definitely have to bring in your own sound system, and you might have to bring in some lighting of your own if you're particular about such things, but the upsides are many. Specifically, those upsides are: it's very affordable, there's a very authentic feel to the place, they'll make very tasty and filling Italian food for you and your guests, and you can go quite late with a reception/party there (and no worries about being too loud in the Mission there). Really it's perfect for the urban type. And the staff was just so friendly and warm and helpful it was kind of ridiculous. Even the security guard charmed our guests. Plus there's an awesome disco ball, a great little stage for a small band, and it's the kind of place where your smoker friends can go outside and feel comfortable making cigarette clouds to their heart's content. No doubt the space is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're looking for a place that feels less like a glossy/fancy wedding cake and more like a place real folks got married (in years past at least), you should take a look at the Verdi Club. We love Denny! PS. we are still hearing how great the food was--I just wish I had had more than a minute to eat it.

Not just for Swing dancing! On Thursday nights, one of the most popular Argentine Tango dance parties (it's called a "Milonga") happens here, and has been being held here for years. Interesting people from all wallks of life dress to the nines (or maybe just in sneakers) and come together from all over the Bay Area--and even Sacramento, to gancho, boleo, and molinete, the night away... There's a stage for live music, and the ladies room is actually more like a lounge/dressing area. Plenty of room to prepare for an event like a wedding reception.

To quote my friend Colin: "Anyplace with wood is a good place to me." Very cool layout and easy to manuever around, Verdi club has a very classic 1960's feel to it without being rundown and smelling like old people. You know what I'm talking about! The bartender was super super cool - poured heavy on the drinks and paid attention to any water request I had on the side, even as their was a line of 20 people standing there that he had to service. The women's bathroom is amazing. Perfect haven for hanging out and getting away from pesty boys.
