"There’s no better example of a traditional Bermuda home than this well-preserved Georgian mansion in Smith’s Parish. Originally built in 1710 and virtually unchanged for more than 300 years, Verdmont is now a living history museum where upper-class island life and all of its fineries and antiques are on unique display. You’ll find golden-framed family portraits, wooden furnishings brought in by early sea captains, and porcelain galore, much of it originally made in England and China. Verdmont is lovingly staffed by volunteers from the Bermuda National Trust, and they'll happily guide you through the collection." - David LaHuta
Thanks to Bermuda for preserving this magnificent property. We made it part of our custom tour, because it was was one of the many places in Bermuda where Mark Twain was a frequent guest. The woman who greeted us and took the nominal entrance fee was pleasant, knowlegeable and enthusiastic. The grounds outback are magnificent.
