"The daily duck parade at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate is quite the sight to behold. Every morning at 10 a.m., a single caller uses different whistles and motions to corral some one thousand Indian Runner ducks away from their pond and onto the grounds of the wine estate. While entertaining to watch, the parade is performed for more than just amusement—the ducks have been helping with pest control in the vineyards since 1984, devouring hundreds of snails, slugs, and other unwanted insects each day. Recently, the vineyard also started working with WWF South Africa and other conservation agencies in the region on a project related to indigenous waterfowl habitat rehabilitation. Learn all about it on a visit, and be sure to ask about touring the duck pen and breeding area with one of the herders."

I had the most incredible time at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate. Every single wine we tasted was excellent—beautifully crafted and full of character. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and truly made the experience feel special. The estate itself has such a rich and fascinating history, and the setting is simply breathtaking. One of the highlights? The famous running ducks! They’re not only adorable but also play a unique role in the vineyard’s sustainable farming. All in all, it was a truly unforgettable day—an experience that combines great wine, amazing food, stunning scenery, and genuine hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

What an amazing place. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and interesting this place is. From the hotel, to the wine tasting, the art , the fire pace , the restaurants. There's even an amazing island there. I was taken around by a lady called Loveness who is so passionate about her job , friendly and knows so much history and facts about the farm. Overall an amazing experience and can't wait to go back.

Vergenoegd Löw is a part of the South African wine culture and heritage. The present owner takes exceptional pride in this estate. Geuwels: The restaurant we visited was delicious. The wine exploration led us to a friendly, well-informed and exquisite tasting. The Merlot here is one of the best you will find in this country! Special mention must be made of the art. My favourite is by Dylan Lewis - entitled 'Male Trans-Figure IX' (I add this as my camera and imagination captured it). The grounds are lavish and a feeling of solace will fill your soul with every visit.

The food was well-prepared, and the coffee was good coffee. The experience itself is something unusual and worthwhile. Unfortunately, the service at Geuwels did not match the rest of the experience. We could not exchange items on the menu, no condiments were offered, table clearing was abrupt, not sugar or sweetener was as much as offered with the coffee. At this price point, the service should round off the meal, not bring it down. We get to 3 stars based on the food and environment.

This is such a special spot for the whole family. Ducks, good food, good wine, play area for kids and beautiful views. We usually visit the restaurant for their amazing food, but this time we tried out the Spa. The Boutique Spa utters charm and luxury. From beginning to end, the experience was truly wonderful. Staff is wonderfully skilled and friendly. Treatment rooms are expansive and lux with a very relaxing feel and ambiance. We had a massage and milk bath with champagne and a platter. Loved every detail and will be back for the 5 star treatment received.

A bit off the beaten track of wine routes, but a brilliant experience (where else in the world will you be able to see a duck parade??). The wine tasting was exquisite. The chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon are both going onto my recommended list. A bonus is its proximity to the airport - less than 20 minutes. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to Cape Town.

We had such a lovely family lunch here. The staff were friendly, the cheese and charcuterie board was delicious and the kids meals were perfectly kid-friendly for our toddlers. The duck parade coming past at 12pm was just the cherry on top and the kids had a great time playing on the lawns while we had a bottle of wine.

The luxurious spa treatment was absolutely divine and the staff so professional and caring. The ambiance there is truly relaxing. I highly rate the experience. However the lunch thereafter was extremely disappointing. The food was of a substandard, the service poor and the staff showed no interest in the comfort of their patrons. Fortunately the duck parade saved the day. I will definitely visit the spa again for a spoil and eat elsewhere.
