"The daily duck parade at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate is quite the sight to behold. Every morning at 10 a.m., a single caller uses different whistles and motions to corral some one thousand Indian Runner ducks away from their pond and onto the grounds of the wine estate. While entertaining to watch, the parade is performed for more than just amusement—the ducks have been helping with pest control in the vineyards since 1984, devouring hundreds of snails, slugs, and other unwanted insects each day. Recently, the vineyard also started working with WWF South Africa and other conservation agencies in the region on a project related to indigenous waterfowl habitat rehabilitation. Learn all about it on a visit, and be sure to ask about touring the duck pen and breeding area with one of the herders."

We had a great time. The staff were extremely accommodating, the room was beautiful, and the food was amazing. Its location is perfect because it’s not too far from the city yet you still feel the exclusivity and serenity. Thank you for having us. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will surely be coming again

Wonderful stay at vergenoegd Louw. The service was above and beyond, the food at the restaurant was fantastic and grown on the farm. The rooms are very spacious, the heated pool is properly heated (not like some “heated” pools that are lukewarm) and was one of the highlights for us given that the weather was actually quite chilly. The pool/deck area is very spacious with loungers and seating. Great bedroom with corner glass sliding doors - beautifully furnished. Spa treatment was really good too. The location in terms of surrounding areas isn’t the best, but once you are on the farm you can’t really tell.

I originally went to this winery just to see the ducks, but I ended up having an incredible experience! It’s the most beautiful winery I’ve ever visited, and thanks to Loveness I had a wonderful introduction to exploring wineries. The wine tasting with Nolu was amazing — full of learning and great vibes. Highly recommended!

I had the most incredible time at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate. Every single wine we tasted was excellent—beautifully crafted and full of character. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and truly made the experience feel special. The estate itself has such a rich and fascinating history, and the setting is simply breathtaking. One of the highlights? The famous running ducks! They’re not only adorable but also play a unique role in the vineyard’s sustainable farming. All in all, it was a truly unforgettable day—an experience that combines great wine, amazing food, stunning scenery, and genuine hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

What an amazing place. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and interesting this place is. From the hotel, to the wine tasting, the art , the fire pace , the restaurants. There's even an amazing island there. I was taken around by a lady called Loveness who is so passionate about her job , friendly and knows so much history and facts about the farm. Overall an amazing experience and can't wait to go back.

The food was well-prepared, and the coffee was good coffee. The experience itself is something unusual and worthwhile. Unfortunately, the service at Geuwels did not match the rest of the experience. We could not exchange items on the menu, no condiments were offered, table clearing was abrupt, not sugar or sweetener was as much as offered with the coffee. At this price point, the service should round off the meal, not bring it down. We get to 3 stars based on the food and environment.

Been to Geuwels for breakfast and it never disappoints. The roosterkoeke are good but maybe just a bit doughy for my liking. Wine tasting was ok. Our waiter was lovely
