What is there that can be written about so wonderful an escape?||My wife and I spent our seven-day honeymoon at Verina Astra in mid-June of 2025, and we could not have selected a more fabulous resort. ||TLDR: Verina Astra is a special place. Rooms are lovely. Views are great. Location is the right balance between remote and connected. Food stands out. The staff shine. ||We were perched atop the resort in the Perseus room which, although one of the two smaller rooms at the hotel, served as a wonderful refuge on our trip to Sifnos. The room was well-appointed, quite, and cozy: exactly the sort of place you want to collapse into after a long day in the sun. But the real boon of the Perseus was the spaceous terrace that, in the day, looked out over sky, sea, cliffs, and islands while providing a spectacular view of the stars at night. A bit more protected from the wind than some other parts of Verina Astra, it was also a good spot for a read, a cocktail (which can be ordered to the room), or a game of cards. ||The resort itself is in a location as beautiful as the pictures suggest. It slopes down toward the sea on Sifnos’s Eastern edge. That said, while the area immediately around Verina Astra is suitably remote, it is not inaccessible. By car, it is no more than ten minutes from the Artemon/Apollonia area. It is also possible to reach Artemon/Apollonia and Kastro from the resort via the Sifnian goat paths which intersect just beyond the grounds. So, the choice is really yours whether to explore the island or stay put and lay out like a lizard by the pool. ||The real stars at Verina Astra, however, are the food, the spa, and the staff. ||The former is easy enough to praise. Everything my wife and I ate at Verina Astra, from the included breakfast to the tasting menu at the Bostani restaurant was delicious. The two kitchens – the hotel’s own restaurant offered meals that transformed typical Sifnian cuisine into dishes that felt heightened but not pretentious. The Bostani, meanwhile, was gastronomy at its best. We definitely recommend a reservation there to anyone staying at Verina Astra. ||My wife and I were lucky enough to have two treatments at the Bostani Spa during our stay. Located between the hotel and the Bostani Restaurant, a trip to the Spa is worth it for the view alone. That said, the Spa’s staff were experts in technique and hospitality. We left both sessions in a golden haze of relaxation. ||Lastly, Verina Astra’s staff are a wonderful bunch. From the moment we arrived, my wife and I not only felt taken care of, but actually welcomed, as though the staff themselves were sharing the resort with us. The service they provided was excellent, of course. It was a pleasure to see them so thoughtfully preempt the spoken and unspoken desires of us guests so flawlessly. Moreover, any time the slightest inconvenience did arise, swift action was taken to *really* make it right. But it is not just the service that stands out. It is the friendliness, too. Everyone that we encountered at Verina Astra was warm, open, and ready to connect, if the guests so desired, that is. Indeed, by the end of our stay, we felt like we’d made connections that could last a lifetime (shout out to you Anna Maria and Evelina!). ||All in all, Verina Astra is one of those places that is as special as you hope it might be.
