I took a little weekend road trip to Vernal with plans to visit the nearby Dinosaur National Monument, and I found this restaurant on Yelp. The parking lot was packed with cars with local plates (great sign) and there was a wait when I arrived, but the hostess seated me quickly in the bar area.
The atmosphere is classic brew pub. It's a bit noisy with uncomfortable high top chair seating in the bar. There's a cool picture window that overlooks the brewery tanks. The menu is full of appealing-sounding American favorites (pizza, fries, nachos, burgers) at fair prices. There are a lot of beer options, including sampler trays that you can order if you want to try different brews.
I loved how all their beers were named for dinosaurs, so I opted for a dark stout. It was tasty and had a nice chocolate finish. Since their beer cheese soup is supposedly "famous," I got that. It was gross. The texture was unpleasant, and it did not taste good. I would avoid this soup, and I usually love stuff like that.
For dinner, I got a classic burger with sweet potato fries. The burger meat was high quality and the fries were good. I don't have any complaints. The burger patty was a little small, but the kitchen made up for it with a giant pile of fries. I didn't expect a restaurant in Vernal to knock my socks off because it's not exactly a culinary mecca of the country. But for pub food, this was a-okay.
I was really excited when I walked in to see that the tvs were showing sports, including a WNBA game (featuring my home team, the Las Vegas Aces). Pretty rad that they devoted a television to women's sports. That in itself is worth a star in my book!
