My companion and I had the pleasure of dining at Vero Gusto for Valentine’s Day, and we truly had a fantastic and memorable evening. As Italians visiting an Italian restaurant in the UK, we arrived with high expectations, and I can honestly say they were not only met, but exceeded beyond measure. The standard here is not simply high; it is at the very top. In fact, it surpasses many Italian restaurants in Italy itself, which is not something we say lightly. Every dish was executed to perfection: authentic, refined, balanced and full of genuine flavour. The quality of the ingredients and the precision in preparation were evident in every bite. It is rare to find food at this level anywhere, and even rarer to find it outside Italy. I come from Brindisi, in the south of Italy, where the flavour of the sea and truly fresh fish are part of everyday life. For this reason I am quite particular when it comes to seafood, and I was so happy to rediscover those genuine seaside flavours here. The oysters were excellent, the scampi ravioli were exceptional and my personal favourite, and the fried seafood was perfectly cooked and beautifully balanced. You could truly taste the quality and freshness in every dish. A heartfelt thank you to Ester and Saverio, who were truly exceptional. Their warmth, attention to detail and effortless professionalism made the evening feel even more special. The entire team at Vero Gusto created an environment that was welcoming and impeccably professional, which is not easy to achieve. We left not only satisfied, but genuinely grateful for such a beautiful experience. Thank you for giving us such a special evening. We will certainly return.

We booked this delightful restaurant based simply on its location being close to a concert we were later attending. Not having really looked into it, we were stunned by the quality of service, food and overall feel of the place. It is exquisite – fine dining in a cosy but very nicely appointed bistro space. And if the food – which was spectacularly good – wasn’t enough, they have a wine list to die for. You will not find better in Sheffield.

We phoned early Saturday evening on the off chance a table was available. Spoke with Bruno who explained they were fully booked but he did have a high table in the bar area if we wanted it. We said yes and sooooo glad we did. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. The food is sensational, every single element executed to perfection. The Langoustine Ravioli was full of flavour as was the Bisque. Lamb Loin was perfectly pink and full of flavour. We took a wine suggestion from the ever attentive Bruno and it was a belter. Cannot wait to return, one of the best meals I’ve had for a while.

We came from out of town. Charging these prices ….. is a bit ridiculous for the amount of food you get. The food itself is fine. Nothing special. You will be very hungry after. Often when you get small portions it’s makes up for how filling it is… this is not the case. Unfortunate because atmosphere and staff are nice…except for dirty (3) looks we got as we left….?? Like I said…. Unfortunate…. Small portion sizes pictured in other photos are very accurate…. Price DOES NOT justify the food….especially for Sheffield

We do not recommend this place to anyone due to the bad experience we had. We came to have dinner, but we left after seeing how inadequate the menu was and how limited the vegetarian options were. Then, we went back for dessert after choosing another place for dinner. The waitress who took care of us when we first arrived seated us in an uncomfortable place by the bar. We ordered three different desserts. When we were halfway through the cheesecake, we moved the dessert, and saw a hair coming out from under the dessert. When we called the waiter and reported this situation. She said, "You have been eating for 3 hours, do you see right now?". Then she realised how rude was her own reaction and offered to bring a new dessert to make amends, but we did not accept. Then, she persisted us to bring cookies even though we said we didn't want it. But despite all this, the hairy dessert was reflected in the bill. After seeing this, we said that we wanted to pay for the cookies brought as a gift. Then they tried to remove the hairy dessert from the bill, but we ended up paying for everything by our will. Afterwards, we were falling in to the angry looks of the waiters. Desserts were good but still not recommended this place.

My husband and I came for our anniversary. We are major foodies and huge lovers of Italian cuisine. We had a beautiful evening. The food, the service, the atmosphere was bellissima! Lots of regulars - it's clearly very loved in the local community and so it should be. First visit and we'll definitely come again. Thank you so much for giving us such a lovely experience 🙏🏻💞

Came to verogusto for a coursed menu. All the food was delicious and the patrons were very kind.

How was I in mid-England and eating Italian food? I dunno. How was it really some of the best Italian food I've ever had? I dunno. I kinda can't stand what passes for Italian food outside of Italy and I kinda didn't like half of the Italian food I had in Italy. But somehow, VeroGusto transcends all of this and makes some amazing dishes with a knowledgeable friendly crew (who spoke mostly in Italian to with my Italian friend). No biggie...I just got to spend time eating.

Best restaurant in Sheffield, hands down. The city has been waiting for an Italian of this quality for decades and this is it. It's also family run and is in a nice location in the town centre. Only downside is that you often have to book days in advance because it's so popular.

Food was excellently prepared and presented. Full menu of authentic Italian dishes with extensive wine list to match. Tiramisu and lasagna were excellent! Highly recommend dinner here!

Amazing and authentic mid to high end Italian experience. Staff are professional and knowledgeable. Food is excellent especially perfectly cooked pasta and fish and amazing home made dessert choice and pastries. We all have a duty to become regulars here as we deserve a restaurant as good as this in Sheffield.

I have been to Sheffield a few times this year to visit family and normally we do not go out for meals, as my cousin is a great cook herself. But we took the opportunity for a nice evening out after a great day exploring the surrounding countryside and went to this amazing place in Norfolk Street. (I think they relocated there earlier this year from Church Street.) My cousin and her boyfriend have been there a few times before and they absolutely adored it. The place is run by an Italian couple and the husband was managing the front of house and the wife runs the kitchen. It was booked fully for the evening, but we promised to "only" take an hour for our meal and got a table, as the bookings for it only started an hour later. It may helped that the boyfriend speaks Italian and that they recognized him from his last visit ... but I believe that they are just nice and would have done it anyway. If you want to have a seat on a Saturday evening I would highly recommend to book in advance as I was told the place is always busy. or visit during lunch hours ... The food was lovely. It had great flavours and was really nicely presented ... not always easy with messy Italian food. Don't get me wrong: it wasn't fine dining - just really nice Italian dishes with just the right portion size, so one could enjoy dessert without feeling stuffed.

The best coffee you can have in Sheffield. This small, extremely vibrant place is own by a pair of enthusiastic and funny Italians, Ester and Saverio - and they know how to make their customers happy. Extremely friendly atmosphere, very tasty food (try lasagne!) and top-notch coffee makes it a true gem on a rusty and boring Sheffield coffee scene.

Got to agree with the other two reviewers. Great food & coffee - puddings good as well. Can't wait to get back there!

Great lunch. Modern authentic italian cafe - good coffee, excellent cake. Highly recommended.
