We booked this delightful restaurant based simply on its location being close to a concert we were later attending. Not having really looked into it, we were stunned by the quality of service, food and overall feel of the place. It is exquisite – fine dining in a cosy but very nicely appointed bistro space. And if the food – which was spectacularly good – wasn’t enough, they have a wine list to die for. You will not find better in Sheffield.

My husband and I came for our anniversary. We are major foodies and huge lovers of Italian cuisine. We had a beautiful evening. The food, the service, the atmosphere was bellissima! Lots of regulars - it's clearly very loved in the local community and so it should be. First visit and we'll definitely come again. Thank you so much for giving us such a lovely experience 🙏🏻💞

I’ve been to this restaurant four times in total with my friends. The first three times we came, we had dishes from the old menu — and we were extremely, extremely happy every time. That’s why we kept coming back. The scallops, the pan-fried sea bass, and especially the cheesy scallop risotto were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, on our most recent visit (just yesterday), we found that the menu had been changed, and those incredible dishes are no longer available. We tried the new items, but honestly, they tasted disappointing compared to the previous ones. This used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Sheffield, and now I’m honestly very, very upset. I strongly recommend that you consider bringing back the old menu — or at least the best dishes from it. You can add new items, sure, but please don’t remove the ones that made us fall in love with your food in the first place.

Wow wow wow!!!! This review just won’t be enough to explain how “out of this world”our experience was at Vero Gusto. One of the servers (a lady from Sicily) was so chatty and funny, actually all of the servers were amazing and chatty. Saverio kept coming and topping our water up and checking everything was okay and constantly making sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. Ester who is the chef is one amazing lady, the food was out of this world honestly. You definitely get what you pay for here and I would recommend it to anyone. We’ve not been on a “date night” in a long time but we are going to make sure we do it more often and come to Vero Gusto. Thank you so much guys and well done! Emma and Isaac.x

Very poor gastronomic experience, despite the good food. The restaurant is pretentious, far from an authentic Italian restaurant. Staff lacks social graces and don't know the ropes of a good restaurant service. The atmosphere is poor with music that invites you to leave rather than enjoying the excellent food that they serve. Staff at the level of the food and a more Italian atmosphere may help to fill the tables in this rather small restaurant (half full when the other Italian restaurants in the area were fully booked).

The most magical birthday meal ever, my partner treated me to this delicious meal and I’d say this place is somewhat of a hidden gem. True fine dining, authentic Italian and beautiful wine. Service was fantastic and lovely atmosphere!

Me and my mum have been here today for the first time before our show at the Lyceum and will definetly be returning. The meal was to die for. The service was amazing from the most beautiful friendly bubbly waitress from Sicily with a great sense of humour. She made our experience THE BEST! The gorgeous chef came out and was so friendly and lovely. Highly recommend 👌 xx

Stopped here on a whim and enjoyed it thoroughly. Whether you’re coming for dinner or just to have a coffee or a few drinks after work just know that everything is amazing and the quality is superb. It’s so elegant yet has a friendly family feel.

Came to verogusto for a coursed menu. All the food was delicious and the patrons were very kind.

How was I in mid-England and eating Italian food? I dunno. How was it really some of the best Italian food I've ever had? I dunno. I kinda can't stand what passes for Italian food outside of Italy and I kinda didn't like half of the Italian food I had in Italy. But somehow, VeroGusto transcends all of this and makes some amazing dishes with a knowledgeable friendly crew (who spoke mostly in Italian to with my Italian friend). No biggie...I just got to spend time eating.

Best restaurant in Sheffield, hands down. The city has been waiting for an Italian of this quality for decades and this is it. It's also family run and is in a nice location in the town centre. Only downside is that you often have to book days in advance because it's so popular.

Food was excellently prepared and presented. Full menu of authentic Italian dishes with extensive wine list to match. Tiramisu and lasagna were excellent! Highly recommend dinner here!

Amazing and authentic mid to high end Italian experience. Staff are professional and knowledgeable. Food is excellent especially perfectly cooked pasta and fish and amazing home made dessert choice and pastries. We all have a duty to become regulars here as we deserve a restaurant as good as this in Sheffield.

I have been to Sheffield a few times this year to visit family and normally we do not go out for meals, as my cousin is a great cook herself. But we took the opportunity for a nice evening out after a great day exploring the surrounding countryside and went to this amazing place in Norfolk Street. (I think they relocated there earlier this year from Church Street.) My cousin and her boyfriend have been there a few times before and they absolutely adored it. The place is run by an Italian couple and the husband was managing the front of house and the wife runs the kitchen. It was booked fully for the evening, but we promised to "only" take an hour for our meal and got a table, as the bookings for it only started an hour later. It may helped that the boyfriend speaks Italian and that they recognized him from his last visit ... but I believe that they are just nice and would have done it anyway. If you want to have a seat on a Saturday evening I would highly recommend to book in advance as I was told the place is always busy. or visit during lunch hours ... The food was lovely. It had great flavours and was really nicely presented ... not always easy with messy Italian food. Don't get me wrong: it wasn't fine dining - just really nice Italian dishes with just the right portion size, so one could enjoy dessert without feeling stuffed.

The best coffee you can have in Sheffield. This small, extremely vibrant place is own by a pair of enthusiastic and funny Italians, Ester and Saverio - and they know how to make their customers happy. Extremely friendly atmosphere, very tasty food (try lasagne!) and top-notch coffee makes it a true gem on a rusty and boring Sheffield coffee scene.

Got to agree with the other two reviewers. Great food & coffee - puddings good as well. Can't wait to get back there!

Great lunch. Modern authentic italian cafe - good coffee, excellent cake. Highly recommended.
