"Versova beach witnessed the world’s largest beach clean-up where more than 4 thousand tons of trash was cleared with the help of hundreds of residents that volunteered for the cause. Now it has become a quaint beach where one can stroll in the evenings and watch the sun set. It’s still not advisable to jump into the waters though!" - The Vibe
When did I visit: Sunday evening. Decently crowded unlike Juhu or other beaches.
Of the limited number of open spaces in Mumbai, Versova beach has been my personal favourite as:
1. You can simply enjoy a sunny morning or evening without doing much.
2. Tune in to the most relaxing sound of waves
3. If you are in mood for some action, try water sports or horse riding.
4. If you want to paint the dramatic skies and waters in your journal or write something, a beach is the best creative studio.
5. Enjoy beach cricket or kite flying with your friends.
6. Enjoy a stroll with your pets and watch them enjoy the waves and breeze.
And this is the very reason, Mumbai needs to protect and provide for more such open, clean and green spaces. Mumbai is not just a commercial capital of the country BUT ALSO CAN become the diversity and ecologically rich urban space. Policymakers are you listening?

Forget Juhu Beach. If you want the real Mumbai vibe, you need to head here.
Welcome to Versova Beach. Once a hidden spot, now it’s the ultimate escape for peace, cleaner sands, and the best community-led comeback story in the city.
It’s way less crowded than the tourist hubs. You’ve got the colorful Koli fishing boats on one side and some of the trendiest cafes in Mumbai just a lane away.
But the real reason people come? This sunset. Grab a coffee, find a spot on the rocks, and just watch the sky turn into a literal painting.
Pro Tip: Visit on a weekday for maximum peace. Tag your sunset partner in the comments and subscribe for more Mumbai gems!

Versova Beach is about a 10 minute walk from Versova Metro Station so accessibility is definitely a plus. The approach road is simpleband you don’t have to navigate too many turns.
The beach itself has a mixed experience. Cleaning does happen but the shoreline is still quite dirty most of the time : plastic waste, seaweed and leftover litter are common. It’s clear the local teams try but the upkeep doesn’t match the footfall.
One thing that stands out is the crowd. Compared to Juhu or other busy Mumbai beaches, Versova is much quieter and less commercial. There are hardly any food stalls or tourist activities which makes it feel peaceful but also a bit dull. The crowd is mostly couples and a few locals sitting around so it’s not the best spot for families or groups expecting a lively atmosphere.
The sunset views are nice on clear days and the sound of waves is calming but the overall environment still feels neglected. If you’re looking for a calm place to sit, talk or take a walk without much disturbance, it works. If you’re expecting a clean and scenic beach, this one may disappoint.
Overall: Easy to reach and peaceful but poorly maintained. Best for quiet moments not for beach activities.

Versova Beach offers a quieter and cleaner beach experience compared to Juhu Beach in Mumbai. Its beautiful sunsets, peaceful atmosphere, rocky areas perfect for sitting, street food options, and easy access via the metro are its main attractions 🥀💐😊🙂

Recently, I visited Versova Beach, and it was a great and happening spot. The beach may not be as big as some others, but it’s perfect in the evening, especially around 5 PM.
The sunset views are beautiful, making it a nice place for walking, clicking photos, and spending quality time with friends and family. Overall, it’s a good, photogenic place to relax and enjoy the sea vibe.

small and pleasant beach, perfect for a peaceful walk. It's usually cleaner compared to many other city beaches, making the experience nicer. You can also catch a ferry from nearby areas to Madh Island. The view of flights flying overhead during sunset is beautiful, and enjoying chana jor garam while watching the sunset makes it even better. A simple, relaxing spot in the city. You can also ride a horse.
