"The perfect souvenir for the food-loving traveler? Slim bars of chocolate wrapped in paper patterned with groovy midcentury designs. Or a pale blue box tied with a satin ribbon, holding a treasure of pralines, caramels, and squares of dark chocolate. Vestri is a family-run establishment that has been turning out delicious chocolate creations for more than 30 years. The clan owns its own cocoa plantation in the Dominican Republic , which ensures the quality and ethical sourcing of its products. The shop also sells modern confections like white chocolate with salt and sesame, as well as sweets based on ancient Florentine recipes. Take decadence to the next level and indulge in a scoop of creamy gelato affogato , drowned in hot chocolate, while you shop."

They have so much chocolate here! There's no sitting area here, so take note that it's more of a grab and go location, whether packed chocolates or their hot chocolate in a cup. Unlike the more commercial Venchi or Stratti, this feels a little more nonna-style, more local. The location probably also gave it away that they're not as centrally located. Price points are reasonable, like everyone else. That said, it's one of those spots that in my humble opinion, is worth while dropping by if you're in the area, but not something that I'd intentionally go out of the way for.

My favorite gelato shop 20 years ago...and it is just as amazing today!

Google
This shop has the best gelato in town! My wife and I have tried other recommended places around town and even in Fiesole and none can compare. It’s a cute, serene little oasis in what can often be a rather chaotic city. The lady who runs the shop is the kindest and most generous person you’ll meet. When we first happened upon it, we thought we ventured into a studio Ghibli fantasy of a Florence gelato shop and it became our quotidien stop in a month long stay :)

Google
This is a chocolate shop that sell chocolate bar, praline, gelato and hot chocolate too. I tried their pistachio, cioccolato fondente all’arancia(dark chocolate with orange), and cioccolato fondente gelato 🍨 My favourite is cioccolato fondente all’arancia 🍫🍊🫶🏻. I also bought their praline too (they have a lot of unique chocolate praline variants)that taste good 🤤

Great gelato! Had pistachio and hazelnut.

Google
Incredible chocolates, and extremely kind and helpful staff!! We were in Florence for just four days but came here three times: the hot chocolate was so good we had to try the confections, then the chocolate bars were so good we had to get a praline assortment for the road! Couldn’t recommend more.

My favorite chocolate shop and gelato. I love the rasberry chocolate one which they have only in winter time. The gelato is always amazing. Recently they already make a renovation of the shop. Beautiful!

Google
Gelato was delicious (especially the 70% chocolate and mango) and they have amazing chocolates as well. They let us try some samples. Staff was incredibly friendly and nice. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning any time I am in Florence!!

Yelp
Staffed by the most friendly people you can imagine. They were so generous with their time and portions! The mango gelato had the most exquisite taste and the dark chocolate was to die for. Doesn't even begin to talk about rhe chocolates they had to offer. A 100% place to return to whenever I visit Firenze!!

Yelp
Chocolate gelato was good! Vanilla didn't taste like vanilla. Their gelato wasn't displayed like every other gelateria, but definitely tastes made by hand. Chocolate spread was tasty too. The owner seemed a little short when we asked for samples, but we discovered Italians don't like to give samples in general.

Yelp
If you love chocolate anything, you should stop here in Florence, as they are a chocolate shop and they also make gelato. Naturally, since they are a chocolate shop, most of the gelato flavors are chocolate-based. They have a whole list of flavors listed outside the shop, but they only have about half those flavors, they had maybe 10-12 flavors total when I went. For chocolate lovers, they make a bunch of unique chocolate-based flavors, like dark chocolate with earl grey tea, dark chocolate with chili pepper, chocolate with Grand Marnier, dark chocolate with orange, and white chocolate with strawberry. They have non-chocolate flavors like vanilla with almond crunch, pine seed, yogurt with olive oil, coconut, lemon sorbet, peach sorbet, caramel. They also have traditional flavors like milk, hazelnut, stracciatella, pistachio. I got the chocolate with chili, which is a flavor you hardly find at most Italian gelato shops since they didn't have any of the other more specialty chocolate flavors. It was quite good, with the chili not being overpowering and just subtle at the end. The texture was good but I found it to be a tad bit grainy at times. A small is 2€, medium is 2,50€, large is 3,50€, and giant/XL is 5,50€, regardless if you get it in a cup or cone. If you're a chocolate lover and want to try chocolate gelato with a twist, this is a good place to come. They also have affogatos and other coffee drinks that looked good, but I didn't get a chance to try these, nor the chocolates.

Yelp
The white chocolate & wild strawberries here is DELICIOUS. Definitely check this place out if you're needing some sugar after climbing the Duomo. Four stars because 1) half the flavors weren't available and 2) it's pricier than the competition. However, their small batches are unique and definitely don't have that cheap mass-produced feel. The shop has a super cute storefront, but it's easy to miss. Grab a scoop or two, and enjoy people watching while sitting on their benches out front!

Yelp
Literally the BEST gelato you will ever have... visited Vestri per the recommendation of a friend, and was glad I didn't give up the 20 minute search through Florence to find it! I was with a group that was slowly getting cranky with the long search, but when we found it, everyone agreed that it was WELL worth the search, and for the rest of the day, we felt sorry for the people visiting all other gelaterias... because Vestri is so good, and they didn't know what they were missing! Hands down the best gelateria I've ever been to in my travels around Europe. If you're brave enough, try the dark chocolate chili gelato... spicy but delicious.

Yelp
This is one of those rising gems that are excellent in quality. I ate both the chocolate as well as the gelato. They were excellent and each piece of chocolate I had was delicious. Every piece. The gelato is definitely up there, but I was recommended by a local to come here for the chocolate and it has not disappointed.

Yelp
In our recent visit to Florence, my fiancé found this great chocolate shop on yelp. We ended up purchasing a whole bunch of chocolate to take home for our family and friends. For our friends we picked up an assortment of the $4 artisan bars that had different flavor combinations ranging from rose to chili pepper flavored. Unfortunately we did not buy enough for ourselves and ended up giving most of it away. The feedback we got from our friends was great, better then giving them some cheap souvenir that was probably made in china.

Yelp
Location: About 10 minutes on foot from the Duomo. Food: I stopped by because I had heard these guys were top notch for chocolate. Sadly, they had nothing in stock in the way of boxed assortments (their site lists several). In fact, the shelves were almost bare. I decided to go for gelato, but they only had a few flavours on hand - apparently they were making gelato today. Anyway, I tried the dark chocolate and it was good. Service: OK. Price point: More expensive than a scoop in Rome. It was almost 2€ for one scoop, whereas in Rome you'll pay 1€. Is it worth it to go here? It's a bit out of the way and with all the other gelato shops out there, you can probably find something closer to where you are, with decent quality.

Yelp
So...I found some blog that claimed that this had the best pistachio gelato, and my friend is a pistachio FREAK! She loves it! And so, we ventured out here. Sadly to her dismay, and to my regret, she did not find anything special with the gelato. But, they have tons of other flavors, that change on a daily basis, so definitely check that out! Also, they're famous for their chocolates and are definitely a Japanese favorite. (They have tons of articles about this place in the Japanese travel magazines) But, in terms of gelato, sort of a let down.

Yelp
Super cute gelato place, and actually my favorite gelateria in Florence! Why? I love the texture of their gelato! I personally prefer gelato that tastes thicker and more like ice cream, rather than silky gelato that tastes like soft serve. Also, I am a huge fan of Stracciatella, and use that flavor to compare and judge different gelaterias. And the texture of their Stracciatella is so unique! It not only has chocolate chunks, but also crushed nuts folded into the creamy gelato! Another fave flavor is their hazelnut! Very flavorful but not overpowering! They also sell a variety of other desserts and baked goods.

Yelp
We found this place by accident when we were wandering around Florence. So glad we did because it was the best (pistachio) gelato we've ever had. We went back just to get another one!

Yelp
It is a super cute shop... careful with your big bags because you could easily wipe out an entire side of the shop (not much room to move around). I do love the smell of the chocolate when you enter and I will probably purchase some chocolate to try and take home as gifts. So why three stars? I decided to give their gelato a go, but I don't think I would come back to this shop for gelato. Finding the list of flavours is a bit difficult, staff were not friendly or helpful... in fact I think he was a bit upset that I had stopped in and wanted gelato. He finally pointed to a laminated menu on the other side of the counter, blue dots indicating that's what was on for the day. I was hoping for a couple of unique flavours, but the closest I found was a White Chocolate and Strawberry Gelato. I then ordered Pistachio as a back up. Piccolo Copetta was 1,80, so not the most expensive. However, the gelato was practically soup by the time I got out the door. Yes, I have sensitive teeth, and when eating American ice cream, I usually let it soften a bit, but this was a kind of melt that I hadn't seen before. I am really glad I didn't go with cone, otherwise I would have been wearing the gelato. The gelato was very creamy. Pistachio was good, but not quite as good as the other places... there was a hint of almond flavoring. And the White Chocolate and Strawberry was a bit on the bitter side. I was kind of surprised by this and thought it might be the Pistachio mixing with it, so I took a sip of water and took a spoonful of just the White Chocolate and Strawberry... bitter. I also can't say that I really tasted much White Chocolate and would've really just called this Strawberry gelato. I didn't finish the White Chocolate and Strawberry. I'll have to have another cup of gelato later to make up for this one!

Yelp
If you are in Florence you must stop here!! The chocolate and baked goods are amazing. Their Italian hot chocolate is incredible!! I wanted to buy half the store and bring as much as I could back home.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite gelaterias in Florence. Their focus is mostly on chocolate flavor variations (which makes sense considering they are a chocolate shop as well). Their pistachio is delicious, the Tuscan Chocolate is just wonderful, and their spicy pepperoncini and chocolate combo is a personal favorite. They only have select flavors at any given time, but every flavor I've ever tried has been a great choice. Perfect gelateria for chocolate lovers!
