Vesturhus Hostel

The hostel is located in such a beautiful location with a mountain view and quit surrounding.The host is very kind he made sure to introduce himself to all the guest and explained all the amenities in the hostel.will definitely recommend this hostel.

The location of the hostel is good for travelling around. We had a wonderful stay there. Our room was tiny, like in many other hostels, but we are in Iceland, who cares, when you come only to spend nights. Kitchen had everything we might need, no queues in the bathroom, comfortable living room, easy check in and check out. Bjarni is a nice person by the way. We send our best wishes from Moscow!

Very high standard for a hostel! fully equipped and large kitchen with a large dining room. free coffee & tea. Large fridge and also a living room with a comfy couch. Rooms have bed bunks and are a bit small, but clean & enough to stay the night. Only slightly negative point is the shower - the outflow is not working well

We had a great time here. Stayed with a few friends (we rented two rooms) and were the only ones here so had the place to ourselves. I think if there were others (or if it’s full) it would be pretty noisy and tight, but the kitchen was great and had everything we needed, and a nap in the sitting room was very welcomed!

I truly recommend this hostel. This is a very clean and cozy hostel with couple of shared rooms (kitchen and living room) where you can easily socialize with rest of the guests since there is a very friendly atmosphere. The town is beautiful and the services adequate. Moreover, the host is a very honest guy who treated us very very nicely. One of us forgot his glasses in the room and the hostel manager kindly let us know, manage the shipment and did not charge us for anything other than the actual costs. Thank you very much Djarni. For real.

We stayed one night, Location is great, rooms and beds were fine as well. However one big problem is that kitchen and dining room is very close to the rooms and doors do not offer any sound isolation. A couple decided to prepare food and washed the dishes after 11PM and I could hear every single sound, they also decided to scrape the hob for some reason. The owner should invest in some good doors to isolate the noise from the kitchen or not allow any activity in the kitchen after 10PM.

We booked three nights in the Vesturhus Hostel and we haven't regrett it. ||||The Hostel was very clean. Our room was small, but all furnitures were new. The common area was very cozy, with a two big sofas, books and a good view. ||||The kitchen and the dinning area was well equiped with cuttlery, pots, pans, etc. ||||The bathrooms were very clean, but there is only one big bathroom with two cabins (One with shower). The another bath room has only a pissoir and a shower. So when two different groups are staying in the hostel you may hesitate to use them together. ||||The Hostel ist located in a very beautiful scenery, with big rocks behind the hostel. It is not far away to the ring road, but very far away to the next supermarket, so stock up on supplies!||But it's not far away to Skaftafell NP (big advantage!!), you reach it after a 20 Minutes drive. The Jokülsarlon Lagoon is also one a 30 Minutes drive away. ||So this Hostel has the perfect location. ||||Bjarni the Host has been super friendly and helpful. He lives only 200 Meters away and visit the hostel a few times per day.

We came to Iceland and made Reykjavik our center point. Knowing we wanted to see Glacier Lagoon (so do you, trust me!), we booked an overnight so we wouldn't have to drive from and to the city in one day. This is an excellent hostel. Room 4 is perfect. The living room, dining room and kitchen are terrific. Bathrooms are fine - clean and comfortable (though I can see what one person said about if the place is full... there's only one other traveler here tonight). The location is absolutely gorgeous - with Hofskirkja two doors down and sheep across the drive). We would stay here again no question. I have been to a few hostels and this one is very nice. My husband's first hostel adventure. My 14 year-old daughter's first. My slightly-ASD son's first time... all good.
