Vevey House

We booked this guest house a long time ago for New Year's Eve, and we wanted something central and accessible to public transport and attractions in and around Lake Geneva. This provides all that. An easy five minute walk from the railway station and also walking distance along Lake Geneva to Montreux or Lausanne, or several bus routes and trains also. We wanted to visit the local ski fields and also Chaplin's World as well as walking, so this was perfect. The room we had was large with a great view and also very comfortable beds. Now word of warning, the ablutions are shared, shower and toilet are separate, there are four of each. They were very clean, but people coming and going does make noise. There is a tea making area on each floor also. The WiFi in the room was sketchy and there is no TV. In the hallway the WiFi is quite good. There is a small lift and the staff are very helpful, make sure you ask about the Riviera Card that gives you free travel in the region and discounts to local attractions. A great stay, we ate in the Bla Bla restaurant for NYE and it was excellent, a little expensive by Australian standards but this is what you pay here, Thibault our server was excellent.

Had a wonderful experience at Vevey House. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and location is amazing, right next to the promenade. Staff was friendly and accommodating, even generously printed train tickets for us when we needed it. Great hotel/hostel combo and affordable. Would definitely stay here again!

The location is perfect. The property is clean. We enjoyed our stay. We booked personal room with shared bathroom for one night. The view from the window is also very good. We could see lake Geneva from our window. Do check the photos.

Stayed here for one night, walking through Vevey on a pilgrimage. My friend left his boots behind in the room, so I contacted the hotel via hotels.com messaging and with no response contacted them again directly to see if the boots had been found. No one at the hotel has responded despite being over two weeks. I am disappointed I haven’t even had an acknowledge !!!

It’s centrally located right next to lake. Close to train station (5 mins walk), and to restaurants etc. You get free transportation ticket that covers up to Montreux, Villeneuve (remember to ask because at check in, the person didn’t volunteer it to us). We didn’t read that it was shared bathroom so our mistake..but the bathrooms were clean and we didn’t bump into anyone (you might want to bring bathroom slippers). Bed linen was clean and a clean towel was provided. |There is a kettle outside in the corridor||However, reason to give it a 2 rating is the noise. If you get offered room 110, refuse!! It’s right above the entrance/exit. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and Saturday night was the worst. The bar probably closes at 2am. There were so many groups of people standing right under our window (which was broken and didn’t shut properly) talking so loudly like at a party..making so much noise until 5am!!! |The carpets need to be changed.| So the place is very basic and cannot stay more than 1 night or two (be prepared not to get much sleep).

This is a wonderful little hotel/hostel. Situated in the main square, above BlaBla restaurant (which seems to be the most popular place in town). Our room was huge with a lovely little balcony, overlooking the square and lake. Five rooms on our floor, sharing one female and one male bathroom, worked out well, with us not bumping into anyone else. The carpet was a bit worn, but we were impressed with the room for the price.

Stayed from Friday-Monday, though because our plans changed last minute I had emailed the hotel if we could stay till Monday instead of checking out on Sunday. They said no, but when I booked for one night, they had availability. But that’s on me, so yes we had to pack our stuff and had the reception hold it until we came back from Corsier-sur-Vevey to recheck in at a different room. And yes them holding our stuff did worry me since it was close to the walk spaces where people can grab and go, but thankfully nothing happened. First off, each of our rooms had no fan. No a/c I understand, but when it’s a humid summer a fan would be great. Opening the windows helped if a good breeze came in; but if your partner is a light sleeper, all the noise from outside will prevent you from a good night’s rest. Outside has a parking lot for this going to the lake and the restaurant downstairs is outside as well, so there can be a lot of noise until very late evening. One room I stayed was able to get a nice cross breeze from the window opened down the hall, but that was if I had my door a bit. And if you like your privacy that can be a bother. No private bathrooms or showers. It’s literally a college dorm situation. And these rooms’ walls are so thin you can hear people closing their doors loud, using the restroom, etc. The location is convenient if you wanna cool down in Lake Leman or want to be closer to restaurants and shops. The Bla Bla restaurant on the first floor is delicious serving Italian food, but of course pricy given Switzerland. Also on our last night the elevator broke. And being on the third floor with heavy luggage, not fun. Given that the bedrooms were nice and the beds comfy.

Service is great, people at the reception are very nice, and the location is fantastic, less than 5 mins from the train station. Rooms: The problem I faced every time I was there is the door of the room is not fitting the frame at all, which means the noises from the corridor are 100% same as if you'd be standing right outside the room. Not for light sleepers or people who want some privacy.
