I stumbled upon this amazing gelato place in Kaimuki! The flavors are so authentic, like Lycee, Haupia, and Matcha. And the prices are reasonable too. The ambiance is super cozy and inviting, it feels like a cute little coffee shop in Seoul, Korea! Also, reminds me of the Bubbies Ice cream shop in Manoa! I highly recommend you give this local ice cream shop a try! I definitely will return!

The two employees were very sweet and friendly. I appreciate them giving me many samples cause I can’t choose which one I wanted. It was worth it, the flavor was so rich and creamy, and they help me a suggestion of toppings of mochi which I agree combination. I will definitely come back again. The seating around is really nice and aesthetic to hangout with friends and family. I will come back again. Wonderful experience!

Google
The staff was very friendly and informational I was greeted once I walked in the door and let known I could sample two of the flavors. I instantly gravitated towards the yuzu lemon and also altered the vegan mountain apple sorbet. The staff let me know someone brought in a bunch of local mountain apple that they used in the recipe. I am not big on dessert or sweet things but this place hit the spot!

Google
This was my first visit to this spot, recommended by friends, and it didn’t disappoint. I was especially excited to try the affogato, which I absolutely love. Although we arrived a few minutes after the espresso machine’s official closing time, one of the staff members went above and beyond to make it happen for me—truly appreciated! I recommend getting double scoops and exploring the local flavors like Lilikoi, Guava, Haupia, and Houjicha. The ambiance is lovely and the staff is incredibly friendly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Google
They have Gelatos, Sorbets, and Coffee. Unique selection, customize Gelato with weekly or monthly changes...i tried it once, I need to go back and try their other flavors.

Absolutely excellent!! Beautiful rich and full flavors. Black sesame was amazing

Google
Best place for Gelato on the island. Could, and have, eaten this stuff for breakfast. Always evolving, always changing, and always ono! Nuff said! 10/2022 Still rocking the edge on flavors. Very flexible on choices. Nice touch to offer inside seating and save on disposable ware. 😉🤙✌️ 6/2023 I've been back before this review, but I just wanted to kokua to a great sustained company. Great product, sometimes different but always friendly employees, and happy atmosphere. Oh, and onolicious flavors! This time was fierce chocolate and straciatella on a waffle cone. 👍 The honeycomb caramel was ono too! 👍 Stop by today!! Kids, visitors, locals, whoever and whatever! 😉🤙✌️

Google
Best ice cream since Toscanini's (Central Square, Cambridge). Excellent flavors and the ice cream isn't too sweet so you can actually taste them.

Yelp
We found this gem a few weeks ago and glad we did!! Such a cute little gelato shop in a busy community. Lots of unique flavor gelato available. They also have cakes and coffee! Amazing customer service. They have a small little seating area you can sit and enjoy your gelato. We definitely will be back.

Yelp
Convenient location in Kaimuki! I don't visit this place too often but their gelatos are always fire. I love their black sesame and houjicha gelatos. For 2 scoops, I paid about $8 with a cone. I believe it's a little cheaper if you get a cup. The staff is helpful and prompt. You get 3 samples per customer. Free parking isn't always available but the gated parking lot has a 20 minute grace period :)

Yelp
@fortunefoodfinds: "Life is short, make it SWEET! Houjicha + Lavender n' a scoop of Cinnamon Toast Crunch from via GELATO. When you're wanting gelato n' in Kaimuki, this is the place to be!" Staff: friendly Interior: some seating, enough space for a stroller Exterior: bench available Wait time: 5 mins Parking: street or back lot Overall comments: been coming here for years n' it's a great place for all ages. You can sample flavors, buy pints, n' they have a variety of dessert options + drinks. When I think of gelato, they are the first to come to mind. Always excited to see what new flavors they have!

Yelp
The gelato never disappoints!! Best I had on the island. The texture is creamy. Flavors are on point. Haven't tried a favor I didn't like yet. Staff is friendly. Shop is clean. Prices are a little pricy considering the size of the scope but I'll still get it.

Yelp
We were there just this morning at opening. The guy was really nice, the place is clean, and so many flavors to choose from. My sons gf asked me Earl Grey? My response was not very nice because I don't care for the tea. It's so good, I think I need to try the tea again.
google avatar

Romyn S.

Yelp
I LOVE that their flavors are their own creations! They have some unique flavors and they change them out from time to time. My favorite flavor is Earl Grey (when they have it)! They also have ice cream sandwiches and cakes. They will sell pints of their ice cream so if you want that, you walk in the store and keep going straight and there's a freezer right there. Atmosphere - Bright feeling and bright lights. It's colorful with their items. Service - The people who work here are so friendly and really helpful. They do samples so you can ask them. You are restricted to how many samples you get so choose your top ones :). Cost - $4 depending on what you get. They do have a mini size and they have cups or cones. The waffles cones always smell so good! Parking - You can do metered street parking (free after a certain time) or park in the lot right next to it and it'll cost you around $2. Location - It's in Kaimuki and next to a Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant. This is definitely a place that I take people to as well because they use local flavors and I like the flavors they try out!

Yelp
Been a while since I've been here and happy to see they still remain the same...yummy gelato with creative flavors and decent prices. Flavors rotate so they might not always have what you're looking for but more of a reason to try something new. Tables inside but it does get busy during peak hours, people usually tend to overflow outside.

The ambiance is super cozy and inviting, it feels like a cute little coffee shop in Seoul, Korea! And service is customer focus! Also, reminds me of the Bubbies Ice cream shop in Manoa! The place was busy late Saturday night! Glad to see a lot of people out enjoying ice cream. I highly recommend you give this local ice cream shop a try! I definitely will return!

Yelp
They let you try two flavors per person, and we ended up getting the hojicha! Very nice hojicha flavor, some places make it too mellow where you can't really taste the hojicha. They have a variety of Hawaiian and Japanese flavors like lilikoi, haupia, matcha, black sesame, etc.

Yelp
Wow I missed Via Gelato and I can't believe I have not been back here in so long. Since my last visit, Via Gelato has only gotten better. When I visited this week the place was buzzing. I love the location and space and service is still great. The flavors are tasty, Rocky Road, Cookies & Cream, Ube, Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Haupia, Guava, Green Tea Matcha. My wife and I shared a Grande Sunday and it was delicious. The Grande is perfect for sharin. We had three flavors of ice cream, Rocky Road, Salted Caramel and Cookies and Cream. The warm hot fudge, whip cream and Cherry was the highlight. Support Local and Kamaki and visit Via Gelato.

Yelp
Everyone who knows me knows how i love matcha! Matcha ice cream is just the best invention ever! The girl At the gelato place recommended some roasted coconut with it and it was just a perfection cute little yummy place in a fun neighborhood
google avatar

Jackie K.

Yelp
I tried the Haupia and rocky road combination. The Haupia was light and the flavor tasted of fresh coconut milk. The rocky road was sweet and overwhelmed the haupia flavor. The store front and interior are clean and colorful. Inside the store, there are tables and chairs for patrons to sit and enjoy the gelato. Service was nice and we were allowed to try samples of the gelato. Freezers contained take home pints and other goodies for purchase. Check in on Yelp for a free sticker. Food:3/5 stars Ambiance:3/5 stars Service 4/5 stars

Yelp
Went with my cousin and I'm so glad I chose the lemon cheesecake! It had real chunks of New York style cheesecake inside. Loved it! Will come back with my family.

Yelp
Located in Kaimuki, there are street parking and also a large pay parking lot around, so finding a parking is usually not a problem. There are about four tables inside that allow you to sit down and enjoy your Gelato. They do offer a variety of cones like waffle cone, etc. You can also order your gelato on a cup. Besides eating at the restaurant, you can also buy frozen gelato to take home. I ordered 3 single scoop of ice cream on 3 waffle cones, it costs about $23 (nothing cheap now a day ) I really like the haupia favor and my wife like her black sesame flavor. The staffs are friendly, I can see a lot of people come to enjoy their dessert after their meal.

Yelp
There are so many dining places in Kaimuki and this little gelato place is perfect for a dessert or refreshing snack. The server was very nice and answered my questions. The menu has a great selection of gelato or sorbet and there are ready made containers if you want to purchase to take home. I was told the selections change weekly. There is an indoor seating with wooden seats and an interesting wall background. I ordered the almond cookie flavor and my daughter had the lemon cheesecake. Both were yummy!

Yelp
Been to Via Gelato time and time again. It is currently one of our go to ice cream shops. We are always on the lookout for vegan ice cream choices. Via usually has a few vegan flavored ice creams. They also have some pints. My daughter's favorite ice cream here is the ube that happens to be vegan as well. My husband loves the pb, but they have not had it much recently. Prices are not bad for the quality that you receive. They have a few indoor tables and a couple outdoor benches. If you are dining in, they put it in a ceramic bowl. They have been upgrading items slowly like redoing their gelato case. Everyone is really nice when you come.

Yelp
The atmosphere was so relaxing and inviting--it made for a really pleasant experience. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, which made me feel welcomed right away. I went with the pistachio gelato and it was absolutely delicious--I definitely recommend it! The vanilla was also really good. I'd absolutely come again!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite gelato spots in Hawaii Creamy yet sorbety ice cream. Great flavors. They have pints readily available in the fridge and offer monthly sugar free ice cream options. November 2023 - black sesame
google avatar

Yelp
Soooo good! I wish I had found this place sooner! They have a great assortment of delicious flavors. I enjoyed birthday cake flavor with a unicorn waffle cone. They also sell their ice cream so you can take some home with you. I highly highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Are you eating at one of the pricier restaurants in Kaimuki? Or one of the cheaper ones that doesn't have desserts? Via Gelato to the rescue! One of the best places for a refreshing dessert in Kaimuki. My personal favorite is the sesame seed, but their espresso one is also very tasty. Service is very friendly and attentive, and it's a fun shop to sit down and enjoy your gelato. There are often children running around enjoying their gelato, which is usually (but not always) cute.
google avatar

Yelp
TUTU's Blueberry Square I just have to say that this one was amazing! TUTU, you out did yourself. Mahalo.
google avatar

Lentina V.

Yelp
Very friendly and patient staff! I sampled the coconut, matcha, and salted caramel-- they were all SO GOOD! Ended up with one scoop each of coconut and matcha. I like that they don't use single use plastic spoons for sampling. If ever I'm in the area I will definitely stop by again. The price seemed reasonable for the quality and size of the gelato.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
What an inviting gelato joint that offers plenty of samples and choices. We got mango, haupia, strawberry, and macnut. The gelato texture was a bit gritty and having had variety of gelato experience, I was a bit more picky as I like more smoothness. Overall, still super amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming to Via Gelato for a number of years and the quality of the gelato/desserts have never let me down! There was a new Dubai chocolate strawberry gelato sundae thing on the menu that my friend enjoyed, my sundae was amazing The worker in the brown beanie was so kind and attentive. Vibes are immaculate, you can also sit on the benches outside if the inside is full as it can occasionally be.
google avatar

Yelp
As a longtime customer of Via Gelato, I'm disappointed. I'm not sure what happened, but Via Gelato just isn't as good as it used to be. The past 3 times I've gone, the gelato lacked flavor or was way too airy. My go-to was the Green Tea Oreo and Mango Sorbet, but both were flavorless. The best was their chocolate gelato. Service and ambiance is great though. But unfortunately, I can't get past how bad their gelato is now compared to before.
google avatar

Sydni K.

Yelp
Via Gelato is always packed inside after dinner time, but the wait to get ice cream is never long. My friends and I were lucky enough to get a table inside to enjoy our gelato, but this is not always the case. I got a one scoop of the Okinawan sweet potato, which is by far my favorite flavor from here. Via is always generous with their samples, so I was able to convince my friends to try the Okinawan sweet potato -- they loved it!

Denise L.

Yelp
The best gelato on the island!. The chocolate was delicious. Everyone is friendly and store is adorable.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place!! It was a ways from our hotel in Waikiki, but we'll worth it! We ran into some locals attending a traditional Christmas parade which was really cool, but not so much for our Uber driver. The food/ice cream was amazing, as they had an amazing coconut sorbet. Service was great too, but know, they adhere strictly to the 2 samples per customer policy. We saw some folks trying to take advantage of samples, but not happening here! Prices are steep, but that's to be expected I suppose in an ice cream shop located in Hawaii. A pint will set you back $14. Ambience was overall nice, even with a busy parade night. There is seating both inside and along the wall outside. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Well we stopped here after dinner Ordering a variety of gelatos coffee chocolate and this was a big let down the coffee was kind of gritty Void of flavor is was more or less cold wet blended like a smoothie texture the had many flavors and vegan options but a major epic fail
google avatar

Connie N.

Yelp
Had spare time to kill before noon and stopped by here before the crowd. It's a nice spot right along the H1 in Kaimuki. Employee was friendly and helpful, parking was a little tough but doesn't take away from the food. Ambiance and service were good and the gelato/sherbet options were good also. (Thank you for your service and being so kind!)
google avatar

Caitlyn Y.

Yelp
We tried their new matcha-gato and hojicha-gato! You can get any flavor gelato you want and get matcha or hojicha poured over. A cool twist on the more traditional affogato with espresso! I loved that they serve it in a beautiful ceramic bowl! My mother in law specially requested it with condensed milk--yummy! I ordered a new flavor, Tutu's blueberry squares. OMG so good, and it had whole blueberries and graham cracker crust in it! Our server was patient while we figured out what to order. She informed us it would take some time for her to make the dishes. Took less than 5 minutes. I appreciated that when some more customers came in, she finished our desserts first before taking their orders. I love coming back because they always have something new and delicious!
google avatar

Jennie B.

Yelp
The two flavors (black sesame and something i can't remember)I got both didn't have a lot of flavor. The texture was only ok, not very creamy for a gelato.
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
It has been a while since i have been here so i was STOKED to see that my favorite flavor, green tea Oreo, was still here! Usually every flavor of aaaanything i fall in love with gets discontinued but thank God this was still standing strong! Since i had just eaten lunch, I just ordered a one scoop in a waffle cone. It was so good. So good. Just like i remember. My mom, who is not a matcha fan tried it and said i might be rubbing off on her! Lots of seating for big groups, lots of delicious flavors, def need to come back again sooner than later!
google avatar

Brennan H.

Yelp
Although they didn't have my favorite Lavender, they did have another of my favorites, Matcha! So good as always. I didn't expect them to pack so many scoops into the medium cup! Definitely made it worth the price. They also had a pre-packed lavender pint so I had to buy that and take it home. The workers were so kind and friendly. Definitely working hard to keep wait times low.

Jaymie N.

Yelp
Via Gelato is always a go-to spot whenever my family and I are dining at one of the 12th Ave restaurants. The gelato is tasty and reliably good, but I've noticed that the flavors haven't felt as creative or exciting lately. I'll definitely keep coming back, but I do miss the days when there was a board where customers could suggest flavors--does that still exist? If not, bring it back! That was such a fun and unique touch.
google avatar

Valery L.

Yelp
Great little spot to grab dessert! There are plenty of flavors to choose from and the staff will help you with taste testing the different flavors before choosing your final flavor(s). They have several tables for you to sit to enjoy your dessert. And if there are flavors you really like, they have pints in a freezer you can buy to go! In terms of parking, there is a good sized paid parking lot.
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
Just down the hill from home, Via Gelato offers great flavors and specials. Kaimuki/Kahala has really good food choices. Coming to Via for dessert after a meal nearby is always a wise decision. Service is always friendly. I like that they use reusable ceramic bowls, glass cups and metal spoons. We live on an island with finite space. Every little bit helps. Highly recommended
google avatar

Yelp
I asked my friend to take me to have something cold and sweet after dinner. He brought me to Via Gelato in Kaimuki neighborhood. It's like a déjà vu. I remember seeing this area somewhere. Via Gelato is so quaint. All flavors are on plaques at the entrance as people lined up. He warned me they put big scoops in a cup and I must finish it before all melted. Sure enough I finished quickly but got some melted gelato ended up on my shorts. I ordered black sesame and haupia. They tasted so delicious. I wish I could go back to get some more. But we already zoomed to freeway.

Yelp
It was St. Patrick's Day and I was feeling like a refreshing Irish treat! Via Gelato came across my IG feed promoting their Irish Coffee gelato, so off I went to secure that item! They're located on 12th Ave. in Kaimuki, which can pose a challenge when it comes to parking, however the municipal self-paid parking lot is within walking distance, and if you get your gelato to go then you may beat the timer and get free parking like I did! When I arrived, I was greeted by the friendliest employee! I ordered a single Irish Coffee scoop in a cup for $5.50. Basically they took their creamy coffee gelato and infused it with Bailey's Irish Cream. The gelato was rich, smooth and creamy, however I didn't taste too much of the Bailey's. The employee told me that for just $1 more, I could get another scoop, however I decided to just stay with the single scoop. That is a better value though, especially if you want to try another flavor. They have at least 21 flavors to choose from. Their unique flavors are inspired by local Hawaiian tastes such as mango, green tea with mochi, etc. Very cool! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and craving something sweet!
google avatar

Angel H.

Yelp
I haven't been here in ages. I don't come to this area very often. We were at Noods and decided to stop by for dessert after. The interior was just like I remembered it. It was bright and welcoming. All of their gelatos are homemade in small batches. I love that they have different flavors than other gelato places. The hubby got fierce chocolate and cookies n cream in a waffle cone. I got the black sesame and green tea with mochi in a cup. They hubby enjoyed his cone and my gelato was also yummy. I love the black sesame flavor. I grew up eating black sesame paste. The green tea was just as good with soft pieces of mochi in it. I highly recommend those two flavors.
google avatar

Felicitas L.

Yelp
Fresh gelato just hits different! Loved the creative flavors & how they are not stingy with samples. I got the strawberry balsamic & earl grey. Both were strong in flavor & left me wanting more! Husband got Frosted Flakes which was just ok. Tasted a lot like just milk. No actual cereal on it. Pro tip: if you're getting 2 scoops anyways, adding the 3rd is like 0.50 extra!
google avatar

Peggy L.

Yelp
Love their gelato selection - I'd go for any dark chocolate, Oreo or fruity sorbet. Quick and friendly service at a heartbeat! It can be busy but there's always a spot for seating or seating outdoor. You can take ice cream sandwiches and pints home!! Win-win!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
DELICIOUS. The staff are very friendly and let me try just about every flavor of gelato. They also answered questions and gave their personal recommendations. The shop is clean, bright, and inviting with the smell of waffle cones as you open the door. I HAVE to come back to get a full scoop of different flavors. Today I went with the almond cookie which was PURE delicious nostalgia. I remember eating almond cookies growing up and the ice cream tasted EXACTLY like that. It was a perfect balance of soft, sweet, salty, and crunchy. The cones are freshly made and they are AMAZING!!! I left feeling super happy and I know I'll be back for another dose of dopamine and a delicious treat. It is a little on the pricier side BUT it is handmade, local, and WORTH it.
google avatar

Alexis X.

Yelp
Food: Maybe it was a bad batch but the Gelato flavors we got had NO TASTE!!! I ordered the coffee flavor in their homemade cone. I could barely taste the coffee flavor; all I could taste were the candy bits inside the Gelato. Their cone was so bland. Service: The service was really good. They had plenty of workers and were quick to assist. Their dine-in area is a decent size. It's big enough for the right amount of tables. I don't like when restaurants leave their supplies in their dining area for everyone to see. It makes the place look messy and unorganized. They have a bunch of supplies and stuff in the corner where we sat in the open dining area. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Prices are high and it's not worth paying $5.50 for a scoop of Gelato with no flavor and an extra $1.50 for a cone with no taste.
google avatar

Yelp
It's been awhile since we've been to Via and am pretty impressed and super happy with the amount of Vegan sorbettos!! Being lactose intolerant there are not many options of spots to go to. The okinawan sweet potato sorbetto was a winner! Paired it with the haupia sorbetto for a sweet potato haupia mix and it was perfect! Haupia was awesome but the sweet potato was impressive! The sweet potato sorbetto has a coconut base and checked with the staff that it is always available, if it's not in the showcase display you can ask for it! A good and bad thing lol because now that I know that we may be back much more! Thank you for having so many vegan options!!! Definitely appreciate it and will be back! All the workers were helpful and awesome service! If you haven't been here yet, check it out! Their sorbettos and gelatos are delicious!!

Yelp
A place I've been to many years ago, the quality of the gelato they serve is still consistent to this day, and the shop has gotten more colorful with even more art decorating it. The employees were very kind and overall it's a must-stop if you're looking to find a cool snack in Kaimuki with great atmosphere - Miguel Morales Photography

Yelp
Yum! My daughter & son in law's favorite. Went there with a small group. Fun friendly and yummy flavors!

Yelp
Was craving something sweet and it was the first hot day after 3 weeks of on-off rain throughout the day and my boyfriend suggested this place. One thing we noticed was the fact that they use metal spoons as their testers instead of disposable spoons. Not sure why this was so strange to us, but it does help with the waste reduction. I forgot what my boyfriend got but I Ordered the matcha Oreo with Mochi toppings. The matcha wasn't overpowering and it had a good balance of sweetness and creaminess. The Mochi was chewy and didn't have that hard bite that you get when it sits out for awhile and becomes stale. I wish I got a bigger size, but that just means we'll have to come back!

Yelp
One of the only dessert places open pretty late on Waialae after dinner or drinking at one of the bars so I've been here a couple times. Always a variety of flavors and maybe one or two of the basic flavors if you don't wanna try something different. Flavors are true to the names. Tonight I got the coffee toffee and dulce de leches. Really sweet but definitely delicious. The only thing that throws me off every time I come here is that there's a sign on the cup sizes that says 1 scoop for keiki and adults get 2 scoops for a $1 more and I always think that I'm not allowed to get 1 scoop because I'm an adult lol. Babooze moment every time but just FYI adults can get the single scoop! LOL
