Via-Mar Restaurant

Everything was very pricey. Food was trash. I spent $132 on Two shrimp cocktails and a burrito with 6 beers. This is the 3rd time I come here and last time. I regret coming here for the food every time. The only thing good are the chips and dip, and cold beer.

Everything was Deelicious and on point. Tortillas were handmade and Deelicious. Café de olla and Cucumber Water were Deelicious. I highly recommend this Restaurant in Baldwin Park to Everyone. They also had Kereoke at the Bar. On the other side of Restaurant in case you don't want too much noise. Outside seating is also available.

I had an excellent experience at Via-Mar Restaurant this past Wednesday! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. A special thank you to our waitress Vanesa, who went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Her attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism truly elevated the entire dining experience. Highly recommend this place—I’ll definitely be coming back!

Via Mar is one of my favorite restaurants. It is in Baldwin Park so close to home. They have daily specials. Margarita Mondays, happy hour daily from 4pm to 8pm and just an all around good vibe. Here are some pics of my favorite items.

Maria with the purple hair provided excellent customer service. The food presentations tells you it's going to be good. I love the sauces they have for the tostada. The pineapple sauce for the salmon. The beans and salsa together is so good.

First time here. Place is nice. Multiple TV's for a game. Staff was super nice. Big servings as well

Tasty steak and seafood. This place gives quality in their foods good served hot. The seafood is amazing. This is a nice 😊 place with different options.

I loved this place I was craving seafood and was looking on line to see where to eat I wasn't sure about thos place because of the stars but it was a Friday and after 5 and this place was not far from my house so I told my hubby let's try a new place and man I'm so glad we did the food was great my favorite was the oysters dressed up they where so good the drinks where awesome I'm glad I went when it was happy hour only had to pay 5 dollars for my drink if I had to complain about anything I would say it was the lobster not the size just to me they over cooked it but it was still good me and my honey will be back soon.

I went yesterday with my family and the good the vibe was great and my server Vanessa had such a good server and made my experience better.

This place is amazing!! March 28 2025 12 noon I ordered a 7 mares caldo, hands down it was definitely the best caldo I have ever had. It was delicious!! The restaurant is clean, and the service was outstanding, even though they were really busy they were very curious and polite. Kitchen, extremely efficient as I did not wait long for my food and best of all it was piping hot and they don't scimp on the seafood, it was loaded. But the service was the highlight of my visit/meal. Thank you for a great experience. I definitely recommend this place, and I will be back!! RS

For what me and my family were looking for it was perfect. Came in on Saturday evening and it was a little busy. Amazing service from start to finish. Love their aquatic decor. My kids loved the live lobster tank. Amazing happy hour specials. My michelada was great and don't sleep on their blended margaritas. The fish and shrimp ceviche was solid. Fresh and tasty. My children shared a deep fried shrimp plate. We also shared a salmon and shrimp plate. Honestly no complaints. Fresh,hot and full of flavor. We ended having a couple drinks at their patio. It was karaoke night and the ambience was amazing. Over all a great experience for us.

Came here for happy hour (Mon-Fri 4-8pm) to enjoy some drinks and food and WOW! New off the menu drink made by Maria, the Jamaica Margarita is my new summer drink that is a MUST TRY! Amazing service, food, and drinks!

Came here because I had seen that they have a Happy Hour that goes pretty late. I was in the area so I stopped by. The HH is for drinks only: beers and margaritas but they did give me chips and salsa for free. The salsa was good but they gave me a cup of their refried beans and they were very good. At $7 for huge mug, the Modelo Negro was a great deal. I wish they had some light food options but the chips and salsa was a good offering. The place is huge and nicely decorated. I had been here years ago for a Groupon coupon I had purchased. I remember walking in and it was so packed that I was like "what's going on" and then I was reminded that it was Cinco de Mayo. Would love to come back and try the food.

I've came here for several years starting back in 2015. It's always been a good experience but today was the exception. No place with seafood grill in the name should be serving prepackaged frozen baby shrimp in a shrimp cocktail, and that's exactly what I got today. I've ordered a shrimp cocktail several times throughout the years and it's always been decent with large shrimp. Today, however; i was presented with a flavorless shrimp cocktail. I don't know what caused the changed. But for 20+ dollars a cocktail i expected regular cooked shrimp. Not baby prepackaged frozen shrimp with no flavor. The server, although nice, said the cooks said; this was how they do their shrimp cocktails. I don't know when that started... Needless to say, I was disappointed and will probably not be coming back any time soon.

The pastor tacos were packed with flavor -- perfectly seasoned, juicy, and with just the right amount of char. And the gobernador tacos? Next level! So rich and cheesy with fresh shrimp and that delicious grilled tortilla. Everything was fresh and made with care. Easily some of the best tacos I've had -- can't wait to come back for more!

Ambiance is little hacienda/patio style. Clean and so far quiet on a Sunday mid day early afternoon. We order the shrimp plate, different sauces, tortillas homemade style. Service was great, attentive, fast, our server was helpful and happy to serve us. We will be coming back.

The food is good and love that it's not super expensive. The service is not so bad just have to wait a bit longer since they are busy. We chose to eat outside to watch a game but there were a lot of flys during that time. Really will go inside next time.

$7 Cadillac Margaritas on Mondays and they're nice and strong. 3 and i was stoopid. They give you chips, salsa and spicy beans as a starter. Happy hour every day and a great mix of music (Luis Miguel, Bowie, Grupo Firme, Miguel Bosé, Don Henley, Eric Carmen, Tears for Fears, Metallica). This place slaps.

I was in for lunch visiting from San Diego, man this place a is the best breakfast in Los Angeles, we got chilaquiles, chille relleno with egg, great prices !!!! Man cheapest lunch ever,

Food is always great, the service (waitress) was very helpful and accommodating. For all these reasons is why we keep coming back. I highly recommend Via Mar.

Great margaritas! Seafood is great. Try the shrimp ceviche! Red cheese enchiladas are delicious. They have the BEST complimentary chips/salsa/bean dip!

The food at this place is delicious. So far, I have tried the beef fajitas, the chicken fajitas, and the fish fajitas very good and delicious. I also tried the wet fish burrito, which is also good and delicious. I highly recommend this place. You also get great service from beautiful sweet Maria.

The place was clean and with a good ambiance. The waiter who served us was very attentive and respectful. And lastly the food was to die for, the fresh tortilla chips with a he bean dip and salsa was good tasteful. My menudo was clean and not greasy at all with an excellent flavor. Tons of meat and little hominy. My husband ordered the shrimp fajitas, they were so good. And the tortillas where handmade there. Great place to come and eat!

I bought a charola de ceviche de camaron to take to the beach. It is the WORST ceviche I have ever tried. I am not a picky person, therefore it was gross! It did not have enough lemon. No salt at all. Overall, it had NO FLAVOR!! Do not waste your money here so disappointing.

I've been coming here for some time now and I have to say I love the food here. I am obsessed with their fajitas and molcajetes. Their staff is incredibly chill and funny. The ambiance outdoor bar has a Tulum esthetic. I took my girl here and she loved it as well. Definitely a must-see if you're in town.

Rode here with a friend. He loves this place. It was my first time. We walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. Someone came by and dropped off menus. A bit later chips salsa and bean dip. A bit later they took our drink order. A bit later they took our food order. A bit later or drinks came. A bit later or food. Everything took so very long. It wasn't even busy. Had to ask for everything. Refills. Napkins. Etc. It was like pulling teeth. But not painful. If that makes sense. That being said, it was delicious. The workers there were all friendly. They just didn't come by often. I ordered the seafood pineapple thermidor. Salmon, shrimp, octopus and melted cheese served inside a hollow halved pineapple. A side of diabla sauce. So tasty. I also got a pint of bud light. That was also fresh and tasty. We sat next to a regular who didn't even order. They knew his order when he walked in. A green chile carnitas burrito. I will try that next time. All they need to do in my opinion is have the workers make rounds more often to check on the guests. Reverting seemed to take ten minutes. From getting a refill to getting the check. To picking up the check. To bringing it back lol

I love Via Mar been coming here since the 1980's and I have never been disappointed. I try different dishes and always love what ordered. My favorite are the fish tacos and the Shrimp ceviche. Carne asada plate is also amazing. The molcajete is also a must have. Great service delicious food. We come here at least once a week. Love it

I hard shrimp cocktail and fish taco. It was pretty good. The avocado was fresh. My friend liked the fish skillet. Probably trying that next time.

Not sure if they'r are new owners, but this was most definitely a 180 and not in a good way. This was our go to hang out. We went in today our drinks didn't come until after our meal was served burrito was cold , mimosa order came out half glasses because "they ran out of champagne " Oyster shots were not what we're used to on top of that they'r was a baby crab in my oyster shot "gross ass fuck" . It seemed it was not the servers fault but a reflection on poor management. By far the worst experience at Via Mar. I hope they can really work on this because it was a go to spot for all of my friends and I.

Horrible service today . Food looks like they just tossed it on the plate . The waitress Kathleen HORRIBLE. I waited for her to return to my table to get my card for 15 min after waiting in her to finish flirting with the customers and complaining about her job I decided to go pay up front myself . I over heard her talking to another waitress that the people on table 1 ( the table I was seated at ) took off without paying the bill . I had to let her know that the bill was paid . The owner stood right in the middle of the accusations she made against me and said nothing !

The shrimp taco dorado's are amazing. They serve them dorados style which traps the stuffing while you eat them. The sauce and cabbage garnish that they put on top of the tacos perfectly combines all the flavors.

Delicious food, great authentic Mexican food. Margaritas are pretty good also. Prior to COVID the $1.00 beers were very enticing!

For some reason we get the same waitress. Which, if you are not a loca she guves U just ok service, because she needs to help. Definitely not going back.

We've come here so many times in the past and it's been 3 separate visits where we've come only to see the restaurant empty. We decided to give it another try on 5 de Mayo and it was completely dead. Via Mar, get with the program or you'll eventually have to fully shut down.

This place was great back then but my daughter my wife and me we went in today and the service was shit and besides there was a bug in my drink I will never ever go again

We decided to visit Via Mar on a Friday. Having been here before, we brought another couple as we raved over the delicious beans that were served along with the chips and salsa. We were greeted by a very nice server named Maria with curly dark blue hair and a friendly smile. She was a good listener, very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. There was music playing and we were surrounded by TV's playing, Baseball, Soccer and UFC fights... A little something for everyone. Our food came to our table quickly, and was just as good as it looked. I'm lying....it was better! Fresh, hot and delicious! Our guests were impressed with the food and service. We can't wait to go back and will ask to be served by Maria again!!

Lupita, our server was excellent. The food was great. We are coming back tomorrow. We loved the caldo 7 mares and the salmon and shrimp plate was superb.

My burrito came with a surprise in it, I didn't realize it til I got home and wanted to finish my burrito. I almost died when I realized this big thing was in my burrito and in my mouth. This is so disgusting , who knows where this piece of metal came from. I don't recommend this restaurant anymore. I called the restaurant and left a message to speak with owner and or manager and I have not received a call back yet!!

Their food had no flavor I had got the shrimp enchiladas with extra rice and the price was expensive.... The food tasted nothing like the picture looked never again will I go there. My friend got the shrimp cocktail she said it was nasty for $20 the only thing she did somewhat like was the mojara.

My boyfriend went on a rainy day to get a takeout he paid $ 32.85 for two soups we got more bones then meat when it was a beef stew it also had one carrot , small potato and a small piece of squash for sure we won't go back !!

My husband and I love their carnitas tacos and fish ceviche. We have been coming here for years, and will continue to be one of our favorite restaurants around our office.

A safe restaurant to go now during COVID 19! I was little concerned about dinning our but Via Mar is taking all precautions to keep us safe from face shields and mast to sanitizing units every 10 feet. Food was incredible! I am from a beach town and trust me nothing better than seafood from back home but Via Mar is very close to the quality of seafood that I am used to. I recommend the micheladas! Ceviches are really good and big portions. I will be back soon! Congratulations Via Mar Family! MD

I been coming here for years! Via-mar is great happy hour spot! The drinks are delicious especially the margaritas. They have a wide selection of margaritas under 5bucks! The happy hour is from 4-7 every day and they offer free chips and salsa alongside with bean dip!! (Heaven) The outside karaoke is really popular and fun. Whether alone or with a big group you'll have a good time. I'm a sucker for enchiladas and I have to say I absolutely love getting their enchiladas! They are so mouth watering and cheesy! Occasionally I've gotten them cold which sucks just remind them to bring them out when they are fresh! The service has always been good.

So this time around I am giving Via-Mar three stars. The service was great. The location was clean. There was no contactless menus. The drinks were good. I had the piña colada's and I must say that the alcohol ratio was good. Not too weak not too strong. The food, I was not very impressed with. Had the jaiva enchiladas and definitely a must pass. Do not recommend this dish to anyone. I had it with the red sauce which had a good taste. The problem was that with every bite all I could taste was nothing but onion. It had large pieces of raw onion. So much onion that there was no jaiva taste whatsoever. I like onion as much as the next person. If called for, yes mixed in my food but in reasonable amounts. I even tried picking some out to see if that would help but not possible. All I can say is that next time I'll be trying something different and that the jaiva enchiladas are being crossed off with a thick, black permanent marker.

Had the green chili enchiladas with shredded beef, rice and beans. Plenty to share with someone. We order a shrimp Cocktail and is was great.

My favorite Guacamole Dip was 86...: ( Caviche de Camaron & Carne Asada Tacos were good.
