What a great place! We didn’t get our waitresses name but she was efficient and very attentive. The owner made an appearance in the dining room a couple of times, asking us how everything was and checking in on everyone! Such a nice gesture! The food was EXCELLENT! My salad was cut in perfect bite size pieces (some Italian restaurants leave the vegetables too big) awesome portion sizes and awesome prices! Highly recommend!

I’ve been a patron of Via Roma II since moving to the Upper Freehold area in 2006, and despite highly rated pizzerias like DeLorenzos and Papas nearby, I keep getting Via Roma II’s pizza for the family. The pizzeria was originally started by relative of the Papas Tomato pie in Robbinsville, so the dough and sauce are similar. Interestingly, when Via Roma’s pizza is reheated in the toaster over, the crust is better in that it’s crunchier. Their Tomato Pie is excellent…, get it with garlic…, yum. Their Tomato Pie sausage and pepperoni pies are excellent. The pie is usually ready in 15 minutes when ordering by phone. They have an attached dine-in restaurant too. Very nice owners who will accommodate almost anything you want including gluten-free dough…!

These guys at Via Roma 2 definitely have some great gluten free pizza. The crust isn't super thin like most places and it holds up pretty damn well. Even a gluten loving friend said he couldn't tell the difference and said he might actually prefer the gluten free pie. If you find yourself in Allentown NJ I would say you should definitely stop in. Mario who works behind the counter is very friendly and very helpful. We got Extra Cheese and Pepperoni as well as Garlic and Black Olives. Well worth the drive and we will definitely be back.

Review update: so lately the food has not been that good. Different people making things? Tomatoe pie has been very stale and dry. Wife who has Celiac, loved the gluten free calzone the first time she got it and last few times, until last night. She said it was completely tasteless and the dough was almost bitter. Was she served bad/expired gluten free dough that it was bitter? She ended up throwing 3/4 of it away. I got a cheesesteak for the first time ever from here. While it did taste good, it was really the most pathetic cheesesteak I’ve ever gotten from anywhere. It was completely all roll with barely any meat in it. For $10 I expect better. You can literally get a cheesesteak from a place like Meatheadz for $14 who serves fresh ribeye and a pound of it in every sandwich. This sandwich literally only had about 4 oz of meat spread out on the roll. I would never order this again. Ok, first off, this place, I’ve lived 5 minutes from for practically over 30 years. How long they’ve been there, I have no idea. I’ve driven by plenty times with a glance but never cared to stop in. I recently saw a post on the Facebook group “Jersey Pizza Joints” referencing ties of this place to Papa’s Tomato Pies and how good they were when they stopped in for them. So I had to go and try them out. I stopped in and ordered a sausage and garlic Trenton tomato pie. Which I was told by the guy their tomato pies already have garlic. Cool, just add the sausage. Also ordered a plain Trenton tomato pie. I will say it’s probably been a good year or two that I last had a Papa’s pie for memory comparison but OMG! These pies were tremendous!! Cooked perfect, thin, crisp, great flavor and absolutely delicious! Kudos to whoever it was that made my pies! I posted this review and pics on the Facebook group because this place deserves recognition. I’m no one special but every little bit helps to get the word out! Via Roma gained a new customer!

I haven't been here yet but wondering if this is the same owners of the Toms River location? I would really like to come and have that same dining experience again!! So so sad Toms River closed down but always loved how the owner would come out and talk to us!

Kudos to u for making our first experience a memorable one!!!!

Yelp
We were Out & About yesterday, stopped at Via Roma II for a couple of quick slices because we were both starving. We felt my wife's Margherita slice was better than my pepperoni slice, I thought mine was only a slight upgrade from Gas station quality pizza. But pictures of whole pies posted from other Yelpers look decent, I imagine if we come back again, we'd order a pizza rather then having re-heated slices. So a 3 Star Rating for the present.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner on way back to Ohio from Statue of Liberty. Our meals were amazing. Portions were large and tasted like Nonna's home cooking. Home made garlic bread and huge fresh salad served with meal. Service was excellent. And Pasta Fagiol was amazing. We will go back for pizza based on recommend of people at next table!!

Yelp
The Pizza at Via Roma II is way underrated. It has its roots in their Trenton Tomato Pie and the developed by the same family as the highly regarded Papa's Tomato Pie in Hamilton. The thin dough and similar sauce is reminiscent of Papa's, but I like it more because when the slices are reheated at home in the oven, the crust becomes more crunchy for some reason and improves in texture. The sausage pie is especially great because it uses a fennel based mix that brings out authentic goodness. The large pie prices are still very reasonable compared to the surrounding pizzerias in the Hamilton-Trenton area. The service is great from the current owner Romeo, who will custom make any pie you want, even gluten-free dough. Give it a try and I'm confident you'll keep coming back....!

Yelp
Delicious slices. My husband went while I was in PT and got me a slice. They were fast, hot and tasty. Will return.

Yelp
First time here and it's such a cute little hole in the wall Italian restaurant. The vodka rigatoni was so good!! My sister had the gluten free Stromboli and loved it! Definitely will be back!!

Yelp
When we stayed in this part of Jersey and consulted Yelp for restaurants the majority of places that came up were Italian and pizza joints. So when in Rome.... Via Roma II appears to be a small local pizza place with a full Italian menu. It looked like a family operation. We ate in the dining room, which was pretty empty, but there were plenty of take out orders in process. Our order was simple: Meatballs to start, meatball hoagie, plain pizza, and meatball pizza. Yes, lots of meatballs and we were lucky the meatballs were very good! The pizza did not did disappoint. It had a thin crust, sweet sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. Service was friendly and our food arrived promptly. Good choice for a fast and reasonable dinner

Yelp
The food is always decent and they do offer delivery. Cautionary tale though : this place used to deliver with their own drivers, now they use SLICE. Definitely pick up your food and DO NOT have it delivered. All the toppings came off my pizza like this dude hit his breaks too hard or something. Shame on me for tipping BEFORE I got my food. Won't ever get delivery again.

Chrissie V.

Yelp
Disgusting. Had grubhub deliver and the chicken tenders were sent and had been on someone else's plate already and they reused them. had sauce and a piece of melted cheese on them. when i called to tell them they said they always cut them in half to make sure they are cooked. What restaurant doesn't have safe serve practices in place to measure the temperature of food and not cut up a plate of chicken tenders. DISGUSTING. WILL NEVER RETURN OR RECOMMEND

Yelp
I scheduled my order for pick up at a specific time because we want the food to be hot but our order must have been sitting for at least 20+ minutes because it was not hot. I think having the food hot may have compensated for the subpar quality. Think restaurants have scaled back on the ingredients because the chicken parma pizza hardly had any cheese, the wings would have been good if it was hot. Overall none of the family members and guests liked the food so we won't be returning.

Yelp
Food is pretty darn good, I really like their Calazones and Veggie Rolls. Gotta try the "Greg-A-Roni" Calazone with Buffalo chicken and pepperoni. Certainly not health food but oh so good! Healthy and great is the Veggie Roll and Giardano Boli with whole wheat dough.

Yelp
Go into villa Roma almost every day today the slice was a bit small so I asked for another and was told no asked for his name and sead "you not getting my job buddy" then I sead I wunt you to call your boss he stood with a cocky smile and told me "have a nice day" so I sead I wunt you to call your boss so I can talk to him then I've never been cursed at by a restaurant employee ever until today he sead "get the fuckout" and insulted me up and down with all kinds of profanity and threatening me with the police because I wunted a bigger slice employee refused his(tall muscular brown hair)name asked the waitress(blond with blue eyes) and so did she there people don't get the restaurant business and I really hope for the owners sake they see this and they both lose the jobs never seen something like this was a happy customer and now I will never go back after being treated that way

Yelp
Good pizza the rest was rather subpar. Not a lot of options in the Robbinsville area so when looking for simple takeout thought I would give Via Roma a try. Sausage pizza, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Pizza on point, thin crust good ratio of toppings and cheese. The salad and garlic bread were a fail. Once I got to my hotel the takeout cup of dressing lid fell off and my takeout bag was covered in dressing. Very bland salad with romaine, few croutons and some Parmesan shavings placed on top. Dressing was standard bulk jug variety. The garlic bread has a good spice blend in it but mine was burnt pretty bad. Tasty pizza but I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
good place, it's small but has a pizza room and a sit down room. Food is very good, I was very surprised. The owner is extremely nice, as is the staff. Their prices went up a few months ago but still a little cheaper than la piazza. Waitstaff is very friendly and I've only had positive experiences here. Only thing is when it's busy, due to their small kitchen and stuff, the food may take a little bit longer. overall, very nice people and pretty good food. The remodel was a welcomed change. Very happy with this place.

Yelp
They have the BEST (bar none) Gluten Free Calzone ever!! Great, friendly staff too and very nice atmosphere.

Yelp
The Chicken Saltimbucco is off the charts good. Topped with a Marsala Cream Sauce. Chicken Parm Sandwich was great also, French Fries were exceptionally good, for some reason. Probably new/clean fryer oil. High recommend this little known secret.

Yelp
Excellent pizza and salad, very decent Mahi Mahi. We were lucky to happen on this restaurant after the New Jersey Turnpike was shutdown to to a bad accident. The kids had pizza and i sampled it. This was the best pizzas I've had in a long time. Very thin and crispy crust and and excellent flavor. 4 toppings were very generous and well proportioned. I'm not from New Jersey Area, but it's hard to find pizza like this where I'm from. rhe parents had the special grilled Mahi mahi special. It was a bit dry, but definitely good. The side salad was well sized and very fresh and refreshing on a hot summer day. The grilled vegetables were very good, but a bit too oily. The fried potatoe wedges were really out of place. Great meal for the price

Yelp
Decent food but not great. Very small kitchen so food choices are limited and typically premade. We had hot antipaste salad that was not fully cooked. But the entrees were good. Basically a pizza place with alternatives. Lots of parking on side if front lot is full.

Yelp
My husband's favorite local spot. The food is great, the people are great and you can order out or dine in the nice dining room or sit and have a quick slice at the bistro tables. Everyone here is very friendly. No delivery, but it's local, so just stop in.

Yelp
Stopped here for a slice or 2 a month or so back. Cool little spot. Not much to report aside the pizza was a solid B which I assume equates to 4 stars.

Yelp
Another visit here, this time for lunch called in and got a honey mustard chicken wrap which was beautiful light delicious and fresh! The salad was amazing I wolfed this down I could eat this seven days a week!

Yelp
The best kept secret!! The salads and antipasta are really good!! Different styles of pizza , including Brooklyn and tomatoe pie. Eat in or take out..we really enjoy the food here.

Yelp
Great pizza and dinners and they deliver ! Very good thin crust jersey style pizza . Clean place with nice staff. I would recommend it to anyone !

Yelp
just had dinner on Saturday eve (9/17 at via Roma, yardville/allentown road. ordered veal parm. ate about 1/2 of it & took the rest home. had the rest for dinner on Monday nite. opon examining the veal (breaded) found 7/8" of bread crumbs & a piece of veal the thickness of two sheets of paper. for some reason the food here has gone down hill for the past 6 mo's. it has now hit the bottom of the barrel with bread crumb veal patty & no veal. wouldn't recommend to anyone to have a dinner there. if you do, check out the veal parm (no veal) and chicken parm (no chicken). if you do, ask "where is the veal/chicken)?????????????"

Yelp
Love this place! Has great food and service and never disappointed, they re designed there siting area with a modern but still pizza touch. Also they got all new menu and new Gluten Free dishes great for my wife! Not to mention they go free wifi too! No choices are limited and very fresh meals great for everyone to enjoy. If you try this place you will always go back!

Yelp
I live in Allentown, nj. Never really gad a problem with this place till about 2 years ago....I ordered a speciality salad that had about 6 or 7 special added things in it....it costs about 11.00 dollars...when I got home only 3 of the 6or 7 were in it, yet I was charged full price...the owner who is there always could of easily told me when I picked it up that they were out of things and reduced the price, but NO he just let me walk out fully knowing what I ordered was not what I got....tonight I ordered a medium pie with mushrooms and they told me twenty minutes....I went there 15 minutes later and it was under two other take out pizzas...I looked at it when I got home and thought "wow, it just looked average, I showed it to my husband and his response was " it looks like they made it for the lunch crowd and nobody bought it...then I looked under it and you could tell it was a little greasy, like it sat for a while....I will from now on travel a mile more and go to La Piazza, where it is always great.....Via Roma is closer and less crowed which is why I went there...now I can understand why they are less crowded...to bad they are shady.....
