On the Grid : Via Tevere

"Named after the street in Naples where the owner's passion for pizza began, Via Tevere is a lovely pizzeria that never seems to be lacking a crowd. The main feature of the menu is authentically prepared, thin crust Neapolitan pizza cooked in an instant in a traditional domed wood oven, the focal point of the restaurant. There are also other Italian staples like pasta, antipasti as well as sumptuous desserts though pizza really is the focus here. If you're looking to eat in the restaurant be prepared for a wait during peak times though I've found, if you order pizza to go, you can often get them out faster than you'd get a limp sandwich at Subway." - Asterios Moutsokapas

So glad Via Tevere opened a new spot on Main. Easily the best pizza in the city, and now even easier to get. The dough is always spot on! Chewy, perfectly cooked, with a bit of char and tons of flavour. Toppings are fresh and balanced, nothing overdone, just quality ingredients handled right. The patio’s great too. It faces the street and has a mix of sunny and shady tables, so whether you’re trying to tan or trying cool off, you’re set. The staff are always super welcoming and honestly just great people all around. Happy hour’s a bonus. Five bucks off pizza makes it even more worth it. Definitely one of those places you keep coming back to. WE LOVE VIA TEVERE!!

Absolute must try! Extremely friendly staff that made our dinning experience amazing. The whole restaurant smells like pizza and you can see your pizza being made. Our waiter Alana was very friendly and handle our large group like a champ. I highly recommend coming here for your next pizza craving

I normally eat at the Via Tevera near Commercial but when I found out the Main location had vegan cannoli and tiramisu... well, I had to drive the extra distance to try. Both did not disappoint, I mean, it's been over 15 years since I've had a cannoli but they were on point and the tiramisu was delish too. The pizza, well it never disappoints, the best in Vancouver I've tried so far and the Main location delivers quality and taste just like the Victoria one, same great toppings to choose from (rapini!), same great vegan cheese, must be made in house it's very unique and not processed tasting. They also have the Vecchia Romagna that I usually get a glass of when I'm waiting for my order... Salute e grazie!!!

Delicious food as always. The fun part of Via’s two locations are that they are not exactly alike. Same delicious food, different part of the city, different vibe, slightly different menu. It is a tradition to go to Via with my son and his Godmother. It’s great to be able to make a reservation especially on an occasion when there’s more than 4 people in your party.

Google
THE best pizza in Vancouver! Both the atmosphere and service were of high standard. Thank you for making my weekend special.

The pizza dough is really tasty and baked perfectly, on the other hand the sauce needs a bit more salt and better type of salami. Quite solid pizza but for from great.

I had the chance to visit Via Tevere Pizzeria on Main Street, and overall, it was a fine experience. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service was kind and attentive. One standout was their willingness to accommodate our feedback—when we found the croutons (or bread pieces) in our salad way too hard, they kindly deducted it from our bill, which was appreciated. As for the food, the pizza was good, but I wouldn’t say it stood out as particularly memorable compared to some other great local spots like Spacca Napoli in Port Moody. I was also surprised that they didn’t have balsamic vinaigrette, which I personally find to be a staple option. That said, if you’re in the area and craving Neapolitan-style pizza, it’s still a solid choice, and the staff’s hospitality definitely added to the experience. Would I go out of my way to return? Maybe not, but I wouldn’t rule it out either!

The crust is crispy but still chewy in the middle, the toppings are super fresh, and the cheese… wow. Staff are friendly, the vibe is chill, and I swear the smell alone is worth it

Yelp
I went here on a Friday night with a large group. Happy hour was available from 4-6pm with drink and food deals. I definitely recommend coming in at that time. All the food was delicious, with chewy pizza crusts and fresh ingredients. There are many vegan options, just ask your server! The night ended with tiramisu and cannoli. It is a small space so come early to grab a table.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had since traveling to Naples! We started off with the Caesar salad, which was delicious. It was a generous portion and we enjoyed the homemade croutons. Next, we tried the Napoletana Pizza and it was perfection. It was similar to a margherita pizza, but with anchovies added. The anchovies were a nice touch and didn't make the pizza overwhelmingly salty like I've experienced at other places. The dough was incredible - it had a delicious flavor and was perfectly chewy. It was lightly charred and cooked perfectly in the wood-fired oven. The marinara was bright and flavorful, contributing to a perfect pizza! I loved cutting our own slices with scissors. :) The service was top-notch - my water glass never got half empty lol. They also have a nice beer selection - the pilsner paired well with the pizza. Overall, Via Tevere is a terrific pizzeria in Vancouver!

Yelp
Very solid option for Neapolitan style pizza in Mount Pleasant area. We've ordered in and for take out a couple times here and either way the pizza has been very good. Great dough and ingredients in all the pizzas we've tried (margherita, prosciutto and arugula, capricciosa). I do prefer a slightly crispier crust personally but it is a minor point. Ambiance is cozy and casual. Service is pretty on it. Wine pours are generous and reasonably priced. Great new addition to the area - will be back and looking forward to trying more of the menu!

Yelp
Get the Gatto pizza! You're gonna love it. The staff were friendly and the service was good as well.

Yelp
Excellent pizza, salads and garlic knots. Service was great. Reasonable prices. Small and intimate.

Yelp
If you have eaten at Via Tevere on Victoria you will know what to expect. Great pizza. Decent wine by the glass, half carafe or bottle. Fun service. And no reservations so perhaps a short wait. The decor is lighter than at Victoria and the pizza oven is more tucked away, so the vibe is a little different. A little sterile maybe. But the pizza is still awesome so who cares!!

Yelp
Pizza was fantastic! We tried four different varieties including one with cashew mozzarella. All were very different from each other and very tasty.

Yelp
We ordered take out tonight and it was AMAZING pizza. When trying a new pizza place, you have to go with the basics for a true evaluation: pepperoni (Sacrilegio) and Margherita. Very enthusiastic YES on both! The best part? The sauce. Very excited to have Via Tavere in the neighbourhood. We will be back...soon! Dining in next time!
