Viajero Hostel Cali & Salsa School

I just returned from my second time at the Viajero in Cali. They were freshly in their new location which has a much nicer bar and pool - some stuff is still under construction but it's gonna be amazing and is already very good. Really though, the people are what make it. The whole team are just the kindest people. From Karen, Maria and Alfredo on reception, making you feel like part of the family, to Camila making me special tea at the bar, the kind and professional cleaning team and Karin always creating a vibe for drinks or activities in the evening... And then the salsa. I started my salsa journey with Sofia in October and it has been such a life changer that I've already been back once and will return again in February. All the teachers are great and daily free class is so fun, but special shout out to Sofia and Vanessa who are literal angels. Os extraño a todos.

Location is really good. Room and beds are clean. Activities are really fun. Staff is AMAZING. Commun area are nice. BUT for the price of this hostel many things are not okay. You only have the entire bathroom (Toilet, shower..) in the dorms, which make a lot of noises when someone (or you) need to wake up early or come back late. Floor also is making a lot of noises. Everyone in my dorms were sleeping bad because of it. Because it was underconstruction no kitchen, but I pay the same price has the one that do have a kitchen and not construction noise ? I couldn’t afford and wanted to go to the restaurant everyday so they gave me 20% discount in the restaurant on the hostel but still not fair. Still pay the same price for the private salsa class and got the salsa class in a room (Love the teacher Vanessa btw!) because the local was also under construction. On top on that, hot shower it’s you and your luck ! As an advice, activities should be said in advance, before the day of it for the people that organize themself with salsa class in advance.

The beds are very comfortable, and there are lockers spacious enough to fit your whole backpack. The breakfast is delicious, and the restaurant, pool, and bar area make it easy to meet and connect with other travelers. They organize plenty of activities every single day to foster real connections among guests. Every staff member was friendly and helpful — truly lovely people. Special thanks to Karin, Camila, and Valentina, but honestly, everyone contributed to an amazing experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I went last September 2025 and It was a good experience. It was a lively atmosphere, lots of music and party for young people between 20's and early 30's. I stayed in my own room; however, I wasn't able to sleep well because I was close to the pool and the women bathroom,. Noise all the time, except from 1:00 am to 6:00 am. The Staff were excellent, really sweet, kind and nice people: Thanks Karen, Camila and Ana. The Staff from the bar were amazing and you can have the best limonada de coco from the area. Recommended if you are ready to party and not to sleep that much ;)

For Cali-style salsa classes 🕺 We highly recommend that you book Juan Hernández at the reception! He coaches professional teams and just won the World Championship in the Grupo Estilo Cabaret category 🏅 But most important, he is the sweetest with beginners, endlessly patient, pedagogical, and always good vibe ! (Always ask for the small room so you don’t have to share the hour with other private lesson couples in the big room...) Thanks to Maria, Valentina and Orlando who made our stay unforgettable ! ❤️ About the kitchen, here you can cook !A very special thanks to Karen, Francy, Jacqueline, Nancy y Mafe who are the soul of the hostel 🙏☀️ They take care of all the spaces, and especially the kitchen, even when travelers are not always respectful and careful...

Having just got off the bus and stepping into the hostel, I can say the receptionist energy was amazing. The hostel looks very beautiful and very social. I love that they have a pool, most hostels don’t. I love that. It’s a one stop shot for anything you need and vibe are amazing. so far it’s been exceptional and I would Karen has been the MVP of this stop so far ! Management please recognize her amazing spirit job

Probably shouldn't be writing a review hungry but when the waitress doesn't tell you to take your receipt over to the kitchen to actually order your own food because she's busy gassing with friends... 2 dorms are closed being fumigated because they have an infestation of bed bugs. Customers are obviously unhappy about it. They have a big and a small dance room, both with mirrors. Worn out yoga mats they let you use for free. When arriving I wasn't told where toilets, showers etc are or when the bar closes. Pretty awful. Lots of cleaners cleaning when I wanted a shower this morning but why wouldnt you clean at 8am. Burger was very good. They have many activities on. Gringo Tuesday bus trip is a con, the chap who runs it charges women less, the free drink on the bus is one vomit inducing horrendous 'cocktail'. The music throughout the evening from the bus to the bar is...so poor words can't describe.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we enjoyed it very much. All staff were very friendly and approachable. We can recommend to go out with Karín (he is the party promoter guy), all the evenings were so much fun and he knows the best spots. Besides that you should book some private salsa lessons with Ivan!
