Vicente Foods

Vicente Foods is a nice local market with an old-fashioned charm, yet it still feels fresh, clean, and well-organized. It was my first time shopping here, and I really liked how easy it was to get in and out, with convenient parking right in front. The store has a good size—not too small, not overwhelming—and everything is nicely stocked and tidy. The staff is friendly, and the whole place gives off a welcoming, neighborhood vibe. Located in the heart of Brentwood, it’s a solid spot for everyday shopping if you like that mix of old-school feel with a touch of modern convenience.

Most European supermarket I’ve been to in the States. Extremely well curated, super clean, and the friendliest staff. The prepared food is absolutely delicious. And the bakery, my gosh, I can’t even put into words how perfect everything tastes - so European. The perfect sweetness! My favorite supermarket by far!

convenience and quality for brentwood moms, but man at a hefty price. the only reason i come here is to buy last minute ingredients in a hurry and of course to support a small business/ local gem. i love how the grocery store has kept its retro atmosphere. its like stepping back in time every time i walk in. even the grocery carts that fit like keys exactly into the check-out aisles (completely full service) were maintained. a lovely blast from the past.

I was looking for this specific coffee, and no one, not even Whole Foods, sells it in the 90403 area. I went to the Califia Farms website, which says they sell it here. The website also shows that this coffee is sold at a Whole Foods near my home, but that is untrue. Anyway, thank you, Vicente Foods, for selling it here! -free, accessible parking -they don’t take EBT - Nice and attentive staff! Great customer service. The checkout line moved FAST!

A great super market that has all that you need! It's hard to shop around the West Side esp in a Whole Foods or Erewhon because their items are specific and very health conscious m. Sometimes you just need a few items that aren't the super natural, organic, healthy stuff! The store is organize and has a lot of stuff. Great variety of items, produce and selections. I have had their ready to go package food items and they are okay. Their seafood salad needed a lot more lemon, but wasn't bad. Orange chicken... not good, or at least I wasn't a fan. They have a bakery in the back and the Parisian chocolate cake is 10/10! Their shopping carts are nice since it's higher and you don't have to bend down to place items in but some of them naturally steer to the right or left so you have to be mindful of that.

I love shopping here when I am in Brentwood. Its better than Whole Foods. Its a little slice of yummy

Nice clean neat market with all the groceries and meats- high quality. But the lady at the bakery this morning was not very nice, I mean $5 a cookie and no welcoming feeling. The cakes are beautiful and good though. My friends and I did enjoy the rest of the store

Love Vicente Foods! This market has everything you could want, even hard to find items. The quality of fruits and vegetables is also noticeable, you can really tell how much care they put into choosing the freshest items. Butcher also provides only the best meats. On top of this, they are attentive to their checkout lines, so there is rarely a wait. Friendly staff as well!

Awesome lunch spot when you want to avoid cringe tip. Good for people on the go. My new lunch rotation in Brentwood! They have cabbage rolls for $8. I love them so much. So comforting for lunch under $10.

Great customer service convenient parking. They have every brand you can think of from a to Z a wonderful deli, meat, market and Private bakery. I had the German chocolate cake slice there was way to much chocolate and a small amount of cake for $ 6.00 I'll pass not good fresh bread from the bakery, the prices are five times the amount it's definitely for the rich & famous of Bentwood with the exception of having everything you want and easy access outstanding customer service, especially in the deli section There's a fantastic Black man who is super helpful kind considerate just wonderful he's outstanding in the deli section making all the wonderful suggestions they also have a outstanding black Manager that's dresses so professional l always leave with everything l need he makes sure of that there isn't anything that they don't have, but my favorite is the produce section outstanding great management at this store

Good but not great. The produce department always has fresh vegetables and fruit. The store usually has a backup checker that assists to avoid long lines. The pricing on most items is above average and not necessarily commensurate with the quality of purchase. For example, I purchased a sandwich for $17 that included two meager slices of a pickle and a portion of potato salad served in a minicup. I'm glad this grocery is here for convenience and as a backup for the major chains that are nearby. But the high expense at this store is why I avoid shopping here on a regular basis.

Great meat and service. Purchased Brisket (my family loves brisket). I needed all the fat removed. Which the recipe calls for, and is very difficult to do. When I picked up my order, it was perfect. From calling and ordering to picking up was very smooth. Everyone was very helpful and nice. It is a great market. Probably a little more expensive than other markets?

We love the store so much! It has such a small town field. So many of the employees have worked here a really long time and they are warm and genuine. Whenever we are in the neighborhood to check up on the certified organic margarita, mix supply. We always enjoy shopping here. It's the best!

I came to Vicente's to purchase a specific product. The store reminds me of a neighborhood grocery. The aisles were all stocked and clean. Store was well organized. Prices are a bit higher that the other regional stores, but I'm ok with that to support local businesses. I didn't purchase any fruits/vegetables on this visit. If I still lived in SaMo, I'd come more often, but I live down in Del Rey now.

The meats section of this market is the best in the area, which is saying alot considering it's one of the nicest neighborhoods in America. Everything else is overpriced, which is bizzare because there's lots of markets in this neighborhood. My friend was cooking a bbq tomorrow, and I figured why not shop here. My friend actually lives in Culver city, but we decided to come to this place because it's much more swanky. We also came here because this place also has Peter Luger steak sauce, and as far as I know this place is the only place in Los Angeles that sells this sauce. It's July the 4th tomorrow, why not live it up and have a bbq.

They have Spumoni ice cream! A mixture of chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio ice cream with chocolate chips. You have to try it then you will understand it.

This was our grocery store when we lived nearby. We love their fresh wagyu meat selection and their avocados are some of the tastiest and creamiest I have had. This is a hard feat to achieve as we have the farmers market across the street on Sundays which usually always has a fantastic selection. But my all time favorite item here is the orange juice. It's like crack. I don't know how they do it but it's always perfectly sweet and made fresh in house, I've seen the worker at the machine. I've had to drive from our new home to pick some up because no one can make juice this good.

Vicente Foods is one of my favorite groceries. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have great gourmet and Kosher products selection. And from time to time we bump into celebrities

They have been there forever but no reviews here? Service is excellent. Parking plentiful. Always crowded. Best produce deli bakery meats. Quality comes with a price. Come support your local business rather than national chains.

After years of searching, my quest for Sara Lee's Butter Streusel Coffee Cake has been fulfilled: it can be found at the wonderful (and exorbitantly expensive) Vicente Foods. I had been searching for this frozen food item for years at the lesser grocery stores around town, but to no avail. When the friendly cashier informed me over the phone that they not only carried the item, but it was in stock, I jumped in my car and made a beeline for Brentwood. I also picked up a pint of Russian ice cream from the frozen aisle...who knew?

It's always a pleasure to stop in. The selection is unique and interesting and the cashiers are always so genuinely nice. We love the classic architecture of the building and the vintage original details , I hope they continue to keep its timeless charm and independent spirit!

I shop here all the time. Has all my needs. And makes my boss's happy. Service is great.

I give up on this awful grocery store. Always filthy pricing is always outrageous, but the worse part is the staff. The worst customer service workers in Los Angeles.My favorite malfunction was 7 people in line and no other registers open in the middle of the day... I enjoyed their sushi but the continued decline in professionalism is just too much to continue giving money to people who don't deserve it.

I have been going here my whole life. My mom has been going here since she was in high school. I go grocery shopping here at least twice a week and it is my first choice for grocery shopping. Their fish and meat are fresh and their produce is of good quality. When it comes to covid-19 they have been extremely precautions by only allowing so many people in at a time and requiring masks. I have never seen someone inside not wearing a mask including staff. My advice would be to pick what time you go wisely because you could be waiting in a line. Most of the time there is no line or a very short line though. It seems that the weekend around 11/12 seem to be very busy. i'd suggest morning weekday or evening weekday (i was surprised how even more empty it was at 6pm on a friday!)

Great grocery store to find quality produce and meats. Store isn't that big so be careful going through the aisles. They have an amazing bakery section in the back too. The carts they have are quite creative and are designed to fit behind the register easily and through the checkout side. Staff is the friendliest. Parking lot is quite full these days but I can always find something.

This is the most racist store I have been. Been here so many times. If you don't look like a white person. Or dress in suit. Staff, specially cashier they won't greed to you. They just ignore what ever your saying. Today I was there and I ask a cashier if she knows where I can find an item. She just told me to go and look for it. I just turned around and left the store. Never coming back here.

Produce rotten - ordered and everything was rotten and spoiled. For such high price and failed in quality. I don't recommend this store. Ralphs has better quality than here.

One of the few places that has a real meat department with actual butchers on staff. The trend these days at the large supermarkets is to hire a single butcher for the day. He or she will come in very early - cut and package meat - and then leave in the early afternoon - well before most people shop for dinner. The people you encounter behind the meat counter these days are unlikely to be butchers. Try asking them to custom cut anything for you and you'll quickly learn that they can't - a combination of union rules and supermarkets unwilling to pay for real butchers. So what you typically see at most supermarkets is someone merely wearing a butcher's apron. A normal store clerk disguised as a butcher. In contrast, Vicente has a real staff of butchers. No disguises here. If you want a center cut prime filet or a properly tied lamb shoulder roast or a three bone kurobata pork roast you can ask any of the people wearing a butcher's apron. They are actually butchers and will be happy to do any of the above and more. No disguises here. Vicente Foods also sells types and grades of meat that are quickly and sadly disappearing from most markets. There is plenty of prime beef and American wagyu from Snake River Farms. Also an airliner cut of chicken breast. All of the above costs more as it should. Ultimately, whether markets like Vicente (or Bob's in Santa Monica) continue to have service meat departments in actual practice - rather than as just an advertising slogan - is up to us consumers.

I am always confused by the scowls I get at check out. Maybe it's me? I highly doubt it. Seems like management there is always disgruntled and ultimately rude - given the ridiculous prices this seems counter intuitive. Taking my business elsewhere for the most part.

Vicente Foods used to be my premier market. In the last year I've been very disappointed with several places within the market. The picture of the flowers you see below did not come from Vicente Foods. It came from Bristol Farms which charges $6.99for these gorgeous sunflowers. There's any food you cannot even find good sunflowers much less at that price. Their vendor is now bundling miss matched old flowers together and charging between 19 and $24 a bundle. Unfortunately your produce is also rockhard and they do not have ripened fruits. Again, Bristol Farms save the day. And Mamalo's bakery Croissants are not the quality they used to be.

Viktor Benes' in the northwest corner of Vicente Foods probably won't have any, either, but you may as well keep heading their way because they will have a much more substantial assortment of freshly made cakes, cookies, pastries and breads for you to pick and choose from! One of my new favorites, VB's "Chocolate Truffle Cake" is infinitely more satisfying than the meager, local delivery things we've been reluctantly putting away lately. This special treat also gives the increasingly harder-to-find Entenmann's chocolate cake a serious run for its money! The "Raspberry Danish" doesn't have as glamorous a look or sheen as the truffle cake, but its inherent goodness will shine right through. And the "Chocolate Scone" is another simple treat with an explosion of mini chocolate chips that made it easier for me to go without my favorite chocolate croissant this time. What a sweet find in a small space with a big taste! For European-American bakery fare that's not too flashy and tastes like home, there's no better place to make a quick stop than Viktor Benes'! Pick up a big cake or a box of delicious treats worthy enough to pass off as your own, or be honest and refer your loved ones to Alicia and the friendly staff at Viktor Benes' Continental Bakery in Brentwood.

Have you ever bit into a Sumo? I tackled one, and I got floored. No, I didn't get crushed by a Japanese body smasher. The Sumo is a new Japanese developed citrus that I saw at Vicente Foods and nowhere else. I ripped it in half with my bare hands and ate it up. It's a combination of a navel orange and mandarin. The result is a rough skinned orange colored round fruit. The top is humped like tangelo with a cute little belly button. Funny looking, juicy and sweet, but expensive at $3.99 a pound. You can read more about it here www.sumocitrus.com I was in Brentwood to visit a friend, This market is all about finding a wide variety of the atypical and sometimes the best of everything. Employees are really very cool and helpful. There are always two registers open. Some stock and straighten shelves, but when there is a line, they open more registers. it's like Lucky's old "3's a Crowd" policy. Employees answer even dumb questions and not make you feel dumb. I heard an old lady ask an employee "I boiled eggs last Sunday. Are they still edible?" "Yes, ma'm" he said with a smile . One negative here - you can't get cash back unless you have an account there. As mentioned last time here, the steaks are prime cut, the best available, well marbeled and properly aged. Most stores and restaurants, only use the lower (but still decent) grade Choice cut. You can watch them cut and package them - no hiding here. The butchers told me that all the fish arrives fresh 6 days a week from the best fish distributors in LA. Some sushi places can't even claim that. It was great to walk by a fish department that didn't smell fishy. The bright, plump king salmon filets were $24,.99 a pound, as were the less expensive fresh tilapia ($10 a lb) and orange roughy ($13 a pound). Selections vary daily They have lots of Kosher food, including kosher sushi. Their sushi is made through the day for lunch, and more for dinne. What is not sold that day is thrown away that night. Probably lots of alley cats or college students in their dumpsters. Lots of ethnics foods, too from Japan, China, Mexico, Spain, and other places. Their produce department is awesome. Employees regularly pick out any rotten, moldy, or unripe fruit, even in their blueberry boxes. Every berry was perfect in appearance and not even Photo shopped.. IMO, they're even more anal about this than Gelson's or Whole Foods. Some of their prices were actually better than Albertson's, with slices of seedless watermelon at 89 cents pound which was $1.20 a pound last week at Albertson's. Plus, Their green Chilean pluots were really sweeter than expected at $2.50 lb. The produce looked almost as good as Farmer's Market stuff. Most of their stuff is local, though the produce is from all over the world. They have a great huge pharmacy, with lots of alternative stuff, a great bakery with a good variety of cookies, breads, artistic cakes. Last time here, I had some outstanding NY style pastries. They have their own deli featuring potato salad and cole slaw, sandwiches, etc. Everything is made on the premises, like cole slaw, fruit, and potato salad, and so good. I even saw them cutting a whole just cooked turkey. Overall this is like a Gelson's or a Whole Foods, but it's NOT a chain. It's a 50 year old neighborhood market with lots of super rich, super picky clientele with better service than the other two aforementioned places. You will feel slightly pampered coming here.

We have been coming here for specialty items for a few years now--it's in our neighborhood. They have some items that are hard to find elsewhere like Strawberry Gatorade. Stopped in last night at 9 for some things, and to pick up some Strawberry Gatorade. Unusually, the Strawberry Gatorade happened to be on sale when we got there, and we were going to get a few anyway. It's unusual to have sale things at this store, and we never minded their high prices too much on the stuff we want. The Strawberry Gatorade was sold out and the clerk confirmed no stock. At checkout, I asked the cashier for a "rain check" and he said sure thing but called "Anna?" to do it. She came over and proceeded to tell me that she can't write a rain check, that I have to come back on Tuesday and speak to the store General Manager to authorize one. Let me state this one more time so there is no mistake to anyone reading this: I was told by "Anna" the person in charge of the store at 9 pm last night that a customer must request a rain check for an out of stock sale item from the Store General Manager. That she and other store employees have "no authority" to issue one. I told her that I cannot make a special trip back to the store during the business day to request a rain check. She then turned away, and walked down the aisle. I could not believe this is the store policy! Either she did not want to write one, or maybe it's time for a new store General Manager if that individual made this rule. Why can't the clerk at the register upon confirming no supply just write a rain check quickly? Why does this need to turn into a special project? This is poor customer service, and generally when you encounter this type of behavior, it's usually the sign of greater problems in the operation of the business. If we operated this business and had a General Manager making policies that inconvenience our customers and moreover waste the GM's time on menial matters like a rain check, in Donald Trump's Phraseology: "You're Fired!"

Good variety and selection of products but more expensive than other grocery stores for the exact same products which I just can't justify. The aisles are quite narrow making it hard to navigate with shopping carts. The staff was pleasant enough but nothing out of the norm. Private parking lot like most other grocery stores. Clean place but with those prices I probably won't be coming here much.

The best turkeys in the city Travel across town every Thanksgiving to buy one. The best meat and produce in town. Small and quaint feeling of a community market.‍

Our family has been doing our marketing at Vicente Foods for over 20 years. They are always stocked with what we need, and if they aren't they get it for me. Their butcher department, deli section and produce are best in the city bar none!!! You will not find kinder or more helpful people. We feel so lucky to have them as our families market and the little market in our community.

How the great have fallen. Ordered a pastrami sandwich on rye, which over the years have been delicious. This time a surly female worker served me. I should have been suspicious when I saw her take a large cold piece of "pastrami" out of a plastic bag and slice it. Uneatable... -cold, very fatty, difficult to chew and tasteless. The potato salad was ok, and there two chunks of tired pickles included. For 14.95 we barely ate any of it. The deli at Vicente Foods is inly a shadow of what it used to be, at least for pastrami...

Vincente Foods is located in the heart of Brentwood. It's a scaled down version of Whole Foods with a more local feel. It has good selections of rare finds. It has a copious cheese selection. It also has a small bakery, meat and sea food section. I even saw Chilean Sea Bass, which I never see anymore.

I love this market! A little pricy but it's a neighborhood market and I love supporting. They have a good selection and random things you look for that Whole Foods down the street does not. Love the bakery, best desserts! They have all last minute things you need for cooking and more plus easy parking. I always go here =)

Here's the deal, I don't generally review grocery stores. BUT this is the Mac Daddy of small personal grocery stores! I don't care if it's expensive. It good food baby who cares eat up enjoy! The confession: I have had the hardest time getting near perfect ice cream and chocolate chip cookies for months. I find them and then stores stop caring them. This is a serious and grave problem. At 11:00PM each evening I have my ice cream and cookies. Period this is more important than sex. Then the heavens opened and presented to me Vicente Foods. My prayers were answered. Not only do they carry my sugar fix also many great spices, meats, sushi that are hard to find. The produce section is small though well stocked with premium fruits and veggies. The store staff is extremely helpful and available to answer any questions. This is hard to find in most grocery stores these days and very much appreciated. Yelpers beware, have included photos of my wonderful snacks. You have been warned if they start running out of these items I will chain myself to the store freezers and shelves to protect my stash.

What would make this great shopping emporium even greater? If the smaller red shopping carts were moved near the entrance and people who are only buying 7 or 8 items could use those instead of the giant ones that are forever blocking the aisles. Make Vicente Foods greater!!

Love getting baked goods here. Located towards the back of the store. They have shelves of delicious treats to choose from. I love their chocolate brownies and their apple tarts. I heard they had a mean creme brulee too. They always seem to sell out fast. Getting that next time. Staff is always friendly and helpful if you can't decide. I always try to get something new when I come here. Everything is so delicious!

It's a tale of two markets. The meats and butcher are unparalleled in range and price. Best quality and selection around. But the rest of the market, while all high quality, is so egregiously overpriced it's hard to fathom.

I shop at Vicente Foods often. The meat department is well stocked and packaged fresh everyday. It maybe a little pricey but you can always find what you are looking for. Everyone who works there is Super Nice!! Love the Deli!! And of course Viktor Benes Pastries.

Great market, been coming here for many many years. Definitely pricey, but the produce is very fresh.. also love the viktor benes bakery inside the store. They have the best cakes and pastries!
