Pretty place and not overpacked. Lovely paintings of Jane Austen related stuff. Only one room, so a quiet break if you're in the city centre and just want to calm down.

The Lost Spells is a really beautiful interactive exhibition for children and adults. The paintings are incredible and all the sounds and books and toys make it a a lovely experience.

A beautiful old gallery of eclectic pictures with exhibitions of contemporary, local artists. I particularly enjoyed the dome with female sculptures and gallery of porcelain and glass.

A lovely gallery with friendly docents who offer lots of information about the artists, and the history of Bath. It's not stuffy or stodgy but relaxed and good for the whole family.

Wonderful little gallery. The permanent collection is FREE to visit, so don't be fooled by what Google maps says - the 'ticket price' is ONLY for SPECIAL exhibits. The permanent collection is of a small size, and absolutely perfect for a 45 minute visit. There are no 'famous' works (though there are 2 or 3 'big names'), and most of the pieces, from across 7 centuries, have a historical connection to Bath. The curation was well-done, with a good amount of information on each piece available on their website, but not crowding each wall. Lots of activities for kids; very family-friendly.

Having gone to the Edinburgh modern 1&2 galleries. I found this art gallery to be underwhelming and boring of what was on show. Just random paintings of few artists that painted landscapes plus the Abbey which had visited Bath and had those on show. It would be more interesting and more value if the gallery had artists that had a story behind them or the gallery had researched some individuals to ask to put their paintings scalptures on show. The facilities were clean and tidy and kids interaction spot is good. I’m glad I went but no value at £8. I won’t be returning unless have something more interesting to see

The Bath Artists event is getting better every year. This year the entries were stunning. So many fascinating sculptures as well as the usual paintings. Nearly bought a ceramic vase.

Visited in mid-October. Although the upper floor was closed, the main exhibition room showcased a stunning collection of artwork. Each piece was truly captivating—a real feast for the eyes. It was difficult to choose a favorite for voting, as every artwork felt like a masterpiece in its own right.

Not the best gallery, the admission just for a small area is not worth it. The free part on the second floor is pretty interesting. You can roam around freely.

We stopped here for many reasons: it was sweltering out, the permanent collection is free to peruse, and my mom heard they had a Thomas Gainsborough. Count us in! We were welcomed immediately upon entering and never felt any sense of pressure to hurry through the gallery. If anything, we could have (and maybe should have) stayed a bit longer to take it all in - there's plenty of seats in which to sit back and do so. But I appreciate all that we saw, including (but not limited to): 'The Bride of Death' painting by Thomas Jones Barker (I was taken with all the symbolism within what is essentially one story frame), Edwin Whitney-Smith's 'The Scarab' bronze statue, and - much to my surprise - the white cabinets against the walls of the room that are positively filled with pullout drawers housing watercolors and pencil sketches of Bath, Somerset, and England (one in particular caught my eye: it was the view looking down on Bath from Alexandra Park, and I had literally just come from the same physical vantage point [and couldn't help but compare my modern day phone photo to the piece of art from the 1800's). I am sure that if we were locals that we'd attend any number of the amazing community focused events they host throughout the year as well. Here's the thing: if art is not your thing... don't come. However: if you love art, even if you just kinda like art, if history and/or art are at all fascinating to you, if you only really like one artist and they carry one of their pieces, you should absolutely come here. It's not an all day affair (the gallery is actually quite small), so give yourself an hour or two and enjoy just another corner of how incredible the city of Bath really is.

This is a charming art gallery that we stumbled on quite unexpectedly after a morning of sightseeing. The most interesting feature was the statute of Queen Victoria above the portal, commemorating her 60 years on the throne. The upper gallery is very well curated and there is a respectable collection of ceramics and paintings to take in. The organization is thoughtful as it takes a survey approach of art through the ages. One of the curators was on hand as we were going through the exhibit, and she happened to call our attention to a couple of cabinets with pull-out drawers where drawings are stored to protect them from exposure to air/light. I appreciated being able to look at these, as they are not always on view to the public. While not as large as other museums, I would definitely recommend this gallery for anyone in need of an infusion of culture who might be short on time.

The gallery is in the centre of the city, part of the building with the Guildhall. It's FREE to go in, downstairs is a changing exhibition space, exhibitions tend to be on for two or three weeks. Upstairs is the permanent collection of a wide range of paintings and some ceramics, displayed as a thourgh-the-ages journey. I know very little about art, but it's a lovely peaceful place to spend some time, and as it's free (though donations are welcome) you can look at a few pictures and come back another time to see others. Contributions can be made on the way out.

Spent a genuinely delightful half hour wandering around the upper gallery here and was almost more angry at myself for not visting before than I was in actually enjoying myself. Well presented, excellent variety of styles and medium. Pleasant staff and the main hall is child-friendly! Completely recommended as a real oasis of culture in that part of Bath where pausing and taking a breath seems to be postively discouraged.

Very pleasing gallery situated in a very imposing building. Very well laid out and well lit. My friend and I were impressed with diversity of exhibited art works.....! Recommended.. Particular interest is the work of Philip Gray....beautiful! His work draws you right into the painting, and I love the use of light....Thank you

Nice little free art gallery right down by the baths and the cathedral. They have a rotating exhibit downstairs and some historic paintings upstairs. Definitely worth a walk through if you're visiting bath.

its raining what are you going to do? GET SOME CULTURE IN! its a lovely free gallery with a mix of styles that you can go look at relax in the quiet even take a book. but dont miss out.
